Last night my roommate and I played on a modern start on prince on standard map. Turns out when we build the first city, most of the ancient to medieval structures are already complete. Also the AI tends to go for tech, economy than military. We slaughter Mana Musa and Catherine in 8 turns w/ tanks. So far the game is easy, but Louis and Gandhi have 2 tech on us and built some space components

I do when I play America, It just doesn't seem right playing America in the stone age. I tend to just go for conquest or domination though, can't help you with a space race.

Exactly my point, it's like someone has done most of the hard work already, and you're just finishing it off. I think it's more fun to make an empire out of nothing!

I have never done anything other than a stone age start in any version of Civilisation, for the reasons mentioned above.

Sometimes it is fun playing future era. U start with 3 settlers, each city you build immediately have some basic improvement. U can switch to any civics u want in the very 1st turn (state property, yummy!) . Then, it is an all out WAR!!

The AI is not programmed to play future/modern era settings I guess. Rush them with those modern units and u could beat them easily. For those who only play Ancient era, u should try a tiny map/modern era start, it is fun and took away some of boredom.

Its the best way to get a chance to use all the modern units, also the relgions being given at random is pretty cool since Izzy won't always have Buddhism etc.

Yeah, It kinda sucks always finishing the game at around 1700AD and not being able to use the cool units (my sig!)

And what about the religions? There are no religions at all?
