I have this weird situation: my friends are augustus and monty. I get this message from monty saying "stop trading with augustus." I go to check why he hates augi and see... a total of +3 with no negative modifiers and annoyed! How is this possible? This is warlords 2.08, no mods, no aggressive ai.

How do you check to see how much exactly how much they like each other? Also, some leaders are harder to please. For example, +1 with Gandhi I think makes him pleased. However, Frederick takes till +3. I guess Monty is hard to please. He's arguably one of THE HARDEST to please

On the foreign advisor screen, where it shows the relationships between each leader, click on an opponent. Then, when you hover over another one, you'll see how he feels about (and why) the leader you clicked on.
czechdude, there are also hidden modifiers that don't show up like the rest of them. I'm not sure what they are specifically, but there's talk around the forum about the warmonger bonus, where AI Julius Caesar and AI Montezuma will get along better-than-average because they're both of the same attitude about war. Builders also like each other more than non-builders. Contrariwise, I imagine that builders would have hidden negative modifiers toward warmongers - like you saw. The other factor is that some leaders are predisposed one way or another in general, and I think that gets stronger as you move up in difficulty. An example is whenever I meet Tokugawa, he's annoyed with me, when other leaders would usually just be cautious right off the bat. I'm not absolutely sure about the details of any of this, but that's the general idea.

As linked in my sig there are a lot of hidden modifiers mainly derived from the personalities of the two AIs involved so it is quite possible that at +3 monty hate augustus:
e.g.: Monty starts with -1 against everyone. Then the game looks at the PeaceAttitude of both - in Montys case it could be 0-3 and in Augustus' case 8-11 (explained in the attitude thread), now in worst case: Monty 0 Augustus 11 this results in a mutual attitude modifier of -7 so in this case Monty would have -1 -7 +3 = -5 which is annoyed :)

Do those hidden modifiers apply to the human players as well? In other words: would Monty like me better if I would play as Huayna Capac than he would if I had played has Alexander?

some do, some don't - however the game just asks (isHuman)? and if so does not bother to look at what leader you play (so it does not make a difference whom you play) - there are however some modifiers that are rank dependent (that apply to all) or dificulty/setting dependent that only apply to human players... Have a look at Attitude explained in my sig for a complete parse ;)

I did look at your excel file and the post in your sig, but there were just waaaay too many numbers there. :crazyeye:
I do appreciate the effort gone in making it though. :goodjob: Where would the average civ-player like me be without people going out of their way to find out about this sort of stuff?
