Ok I started on a bad spot isolated on a cold continent. I have too many cities on the continent because I dont want any other civ to settle in it. My units are going on strike. I have alot of millitary units because of barbarian cities and units. My research is set to 0% so I cant dicover Currency in a long while. My cities are just producing units, and this just adds to the striking problem. Is there any way possible to have my cities to do nothing?

Or work only commerce tiles. But yeah, before Currency, Alpha, and Music, build units and disband.

click on the city bar illustrated by the red arrow. When it is highlighted hit the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 key above asdf jkl; . You then hit escape, go about your normal business, then end turn :) .

Here's how (but it's not pretty): ALT-right-click on a city. This actually selects all cities. Select to build a building that is already built in the city that you want to build nothing. ESC out. Go back and fix all the cities that you didn't want to build that building.

Whip libraries in all your cities then start running scientists everywhere, if you can't do that you probably have lost the game.

Presumably he's built all the buildings he can.

Anyway, couldn't you just build a military unit, and kill him as soon as he's born? That wouldn't cost a maintenance, would it?

Ok, thanks for your help. I Killed the units that were just made so I wouldn't have to pay for them.

don't you have currency?
just build wealth.
Even it's only a few coins, it's better than nothing.

Assign your cities to build wonders. When the wonders are built in other cities across the globe, you work will be disbanded and you get money.

Yeah. I had to build wealth and research in my Aztec Game. I had financial neighbours and it was difficult to catch them.

btw. the hardest emperor game I had. No gold, gems, no ivory. Only silk. Spiritual was rescue for me. And I catched AI's in power quite fast. Building army does not last so long as it seems.

just build wonders in the cities you don't want anything in. As they get completed by other civs, you'll get the gold. And if you complete them, you'll have the wonders.
