View Full Version : See ya, folks
godotnut Mar 05, 2007, 06:10 PM Real life stuff has forced me to take a break from gaming, so I won't be around much for a while. I'm calling it a "hiatus." I know this is nothing to the vast majority, but I've made some friends here, and I felt bad just stopping posting without saying anything. I'll miss this fine community of Civ fans. Hopefully, I'll see you all later when I finish my dissertation.
Oh, and by the way, I got my ass kicked in the recent Deity GOTM. Guess the Quecha rush wasn't such a good idea.
Airny Mar 05, 2007, 09:12 PM I hope to see you back again and appreciate your efforts.
You pushed civ4 to a new limit especially by showing us how to use the cultural victory on high levels.
A dissertation seems like a reasonable cause for a break. ;-)
Erkon Mar 05, 2007, 09:33 PM Good luck! What field will your PhD be in?
godotnut Mar 05, 2007, 09:54 PM @Erkon:
My dissertation is on the American poet Walt Whitman. I just wasn't getting enough work done with my Civ obsession. I need to go cold turkey for a while.
I hope to be back soon!
Lexad Mar 05, 2007, 11:43 PM Good luck! Hoping to see you later.
No Quechue rush didn't turn out to be a good idea either :D
Htadus Mar 06, 2007, 01:38 AM Good luck! Hoping to see you later.
No Quechue rush didn't turn out to be a good idea either :D
I agree with Lexad and you about the rush. Good luck in your studies godotnut.
jesusin Mar 06, 2007, 05:33 AM I wish you the best of lucks.
We will miss you.
Thrallia Mar 06, 2007, 10:21 AM good luck godonut.
Markus5 Mar 06, 2007, 11:37 AM Best of luck. It was your cultural strategy that led to my first cultural victory. Not deity, but emperor. Still, for me, I was pleased. Again, good luck.
Conquistador 63 Mar 06, 2007, 01:47 PM @Erkon:
My dissertation is on the American poet Walt Whitman.
Now I understand why you're the cultural victory guru! :D It would seem odd if your PhD were in Rocket Science.
Good luck and come back soon!
da_Vinci Mar 06, 2007, 01:49 PM @ godotnut: "Great Humanist born in Iowa" (in time for the caucuses?) will be announced soon I am sure! Good luck on the diss. :goodjob:

Jove Mar 06, 2007, 04:52 PM I would have expected your dissertation to be on Samuel Beckett, but it probably won't mix well with a lot of civving regardless. Good luck!
AlanH Mar 07, 2007, 03:06 AM Good luck, godotnut. Look forward to seeing you again when you're a PhD :wavey:
Vynd Mar 07, 2007, 07:22 AM Good luck with your dissertation godotnut! I recommend a totally peaceful cultural or diplomatic approach to the grad school challenge. A military victory seems unlikely.
KMadCandy Mar 07, 2007, 09:02 AM best of luck! thank you for your generosity posting tips/guides/tactics, i learned a lot from you.
ngraner42 Mar 07, 2007, 07:13 PM You will be missed and not just due to your great avatar.
godotnut Mar 09, 2007, 04:07 AM What a tremendous online community.
Other games have their bells & whistles, but Civ has always--and still has--the best fan base.
You all are the greatest, but I really need to get some work done!
