If you finish researching both, stop play.
As for scout movement, roughly follow the scout path illustrated in the picture. Use your judgment, to unveil the most land and keep the scout alive. We wont need to worry about uncovering more land around those gold mines, since our next scout finishes before we build a settler. My path will reveal some land to our west as well as capture two goody huts.
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/2817/scoutpath1gy0.jpg
City production and what not is left to Chieftess.
With the second scout built, I'd like to see it move east as well as reveal that eastern land near the gold mines. Direct him at your own discretion.
Anything I left out?
Chieftess Mar 09, 2007, 06:17 AM Turn 6 - Make sure the wheat is used, along with a forested-grassland on a river.
Build queue: Scout, Warrior (until size 2) Worker, continue warrior
After the worker -
1 - Irragate wheat
2 - Irragate grassland 1SW of the city.
3 - Mine the forested hill. We should do this when building a settler. This step depends on if we have Bronze Working.

[03/10 08:04] <DaveShack> keeping agriculture as tech, scout as production, so no preturn
moves
[03/10 08:06] <DaveShack> checked settings, ready to hit enter
[03/10 08:06] <Chieftess> What are the end of turn stats?
[03/10 08:07] <DaveShack> Turn 0, 3800BC, 0g +0gpt, ag(4)
[03/10 08:08] <DaveShack> scout(3) growth(6)
[03/10 08:08] <Chieftess> Crabengwë!
[03/10 08:08] <Chieftess> That's "Press it!" to the new people.
[03/10 08:08] <Chieftess> Another old demogame custom.
[03/10 08:08] <x730195> I didn't know anyone spoke Mongolian
[03/10 08:10] <DaveShack> it's Sindarin or Quenya, don't remember which variety
[03/10 08:10] <Chieftess> Quenya.
[03/10 08:11] <DaveShack> scout NW (Ice's plan was approximate and this reveals an extra
tile)
[03/10 08:11] <Chieftess> Back in the day, Curufinwe was the Culture Advisor in the old
demogames. He loved to put Quenyan words into the game.
[03/10 08:11] <Chieftess> One of which, was "Crabingwe"
[03/10 08:12] <DaveShack> nothing new. end of Turn 1, 3760BC, 0+0gpt, scout(2) growth(5),
pressing enter
[03/10 08:13] <DaveShack> scout 2SW reveals rest of tiles around northern gold, both are
plains
[03/10 08:14] <DaveShack> end of turn 2, 0+0gpt, ag(2), scout (1), growth (3), pressing
enter
[03/10 08:15] <DaveShack> IBT scout->warrior (7)
[03/10 08:16] <DaveShack> don't remember, what's the trick for unit names?
[03/10 08:16] <Chieftess> Click on the line of text on the lower-left I think
[03/10 08:17] <Chieftess> where it says "Scout".
[03/10 08:17] <DaveShack> aha, gotta be right on the name
[03/10 08:17] <Chieftess> So if you named the scout " "... :)
[03/10 08:18] <DaveShack> new scout labelled Scout 2 (for now) and moves SW+SE, gonna reveal
the coast before heading NE
[03/10 08:18] <DaveShack> Scout 1 approaches village
[03/10 08:19] <x730195> was there a poll to name the scouts? ;-)
[03/10 08:19] <DaveShack> no, so there being no instructions (nor rule) the DP's discretion
is to keep them straight lol
[03/10 08:20] <Chieftess> You would've loved the early demogames. Some wanted to micromanage
everything like that. :)
[03/10 08:20] <DaveShack> no drumroll ?
[03/10 08:20] <Chieftess> [11:19] <@DaveShack> no, so there being no instructions (nor rule)
the DP's
[03/10 08:20] <Chieftess> discretion is to keep them straight lol
[03/10 08:20] <Chieftess> Don't you just love that rule? :D
[03/10 08:20] <Chieftess> *drumroll*
[03/10 08:20] * Chieftess hopes for a tech!
[03/10 08:20] <DaveShack> the villagers are friendly and give us 49 gold coins
[03/10 08:20] <DaveShack> evidently they know mining
[03/10 08:21] <Chieftess> Maybe they just panned for gold.
[03/10 08:21] <DaveShack> true
[03/10 08:21] <Grant2004> well make them tell us about it :)
[03/10 08:22] <DaveShack> end of turn 3, 3680 BC, 49g+0gpt, ag(1), warrior(7), growth(3)
must have been 4 before
[03/10 08:23] <DaveShack> pressing it
[03/10 08:23] <Chieftess> Crabengwë!
[03/10 08:23] <DaveShack> Scout 1 bravely defends the villagers against a wolf, kills it
without injury
[03/10 08:24] <DaveShack> we learn the secrets of agriculture and turn our thoughts to
mining
[03/10 08:24] * Strider blinks
[03/10 08:25] * DaveShack checks the Chieftain's map to see where the path should go
[03/10 08:25] <DaveShack> g'day Strider
[03/10 08:26] <DaveShack> Scout 1 SW, discovers there are cows 2W of the gold :D
[03/10 08:26] <Grant2004> nice that should be useful
[03/10 08:27] <DaveShack> scout 2 SE, nothing remarkable about the coast
[03/10 08:27] <Chieftess> Sounds like a good city site.
[03/10 08:28] <DaveShack> End of turn 4, 3640 BC, 49g+0gpt, mining(7), warrior(6), growth
(2), pressing enter
[03/10 08:29] <DaveShack> scout 2 2NE, more cows
[03/10 08:30] <Chieftess> wow. :D
[03/10 08:30] <DaveShack> this is looking like some pretty darn good land! :D
[03/10 08:30] <Grant2004> well if we don't have horses we can always ride those into battle
[03/10 08:31] <DaveShack> scout 1 W+NW, another rice near the NW river
[03/10 08:31] <DaveShack> end of turn 5, taking some screenies
[03/10 08:33] <Chieftess> Certainly better than DG1.
[03/10 08:33] <Chieftess> Civ4 DG1 that is.
[03/10 08:34] <DaveShack>
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/26840/C4DG2_BC3600_Turn5.Civ4SavedGame
[03/10 08:37] * DaveShack hopes imageshack upload also fits in memory
[03/10 08:39] <DaveShack> TCIT updated with screenies
[03/10 08:39] <DaveShack> any save comments?
[03/10 08:39] <Chieftess> not yet - haven't downloaded it
[03/10 08:39] <DaveShack> of course on game turn 9, not much to see ;)
[03/10 08:40] <Grant2004> looks good to me
[03/10 08:40] <Chieftess> true
[03/10 08:40] <Chieftess> it's loading.
[03/10 08:41] <Chieftess> Just make sure the new worked tile is a grassland forested river.
[03/10 08:42] <Chieftess> Press it!
[03/10 08:42] <DaveShack> checking the tile values, it doesn't even matter if we work the
wheat yet, it's still 2f1h same as a forest grass
[03/10 08:43] <DaveShack> end of turn 5, 3600BC, 49g+0gpt, mining(6), warrior(5), growth(1),
pressing it
[03/10 08:44] <DaveShack> <Insert Nation Name> News Flash DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE RECEIVED
[03/10 08:45] <DaveShack> "Greetings. I'm Napoleon, Emperor, Marshal, and First Citizen of
France. You can call me "Little Corporal,", but then I'll have to kill you.
[03/10 08:46] <Grant2004> Oh Napoleon, that's going to be interesting
[03/10 08:46] <DaveShack> Our response "There shall be peace in our time!" (under breath at
least until we know how we stand) lol
[03/10 08:46] <Chieftess> Bonjour!
[03/10 08:47] <DaveShack> Also, scout 2 was attacked by wolves, and survived (0.7 strength,
1/2 exp)
[03/10 08:48] <DaveShack> score: Napolean 65, us 51
[03/10 08:48] <DaveShack> full set of demographics screenies
[03/10 08:49] <DaveShack> There are no instructions to stop if we meet someone
[03/10 08:49] <DaveShack> Since war is the only possible diplo move so early, and the people
thirst for knowledge of the world, might as well continue
[03/10 08:51] * DaveShack gets breakfast from microwave, the beep is getting annoying
[03/10 08:51] * Grant2004 has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving)
[03/10 08:54] <DaveShack> The Frenchman is a warrior and came from the W or NW
[03/10 08:55] <DaveShack> scout 1 continues N, scout 2 NE, nothing new revealed

(queued warrior in 3)
[03/10 08:57] <x730195> did you upload the screenies?
[03/10 08:57] <DaveShack> have uploaded the turn 5 ones, all the demographic pages would be
pretty time consuming and I have a 9:30 hard stop
[03/10 08:59] <DaveShack> scout 2 now S of the two gold on a forest, will need to heal
before trying to cross the desert to survive animal attacks
[03/10 09:00] <DaveShack> scout 1 sees there are cows near the other villagers

[03/10 09:01] <x730195> rrrrrrrrrrrr
[03/10 09:02] <DaveShack> is given a gift of 55 gold pieces
[03/10 09:03] * Grant2004 has joined #turnchat
[03/10 09:03] * Chieftess sets mode: +v Grant2004
[03/10 09:03] <DaveShack> scout 2 takes one more short march to a forest hill, and sees more
silks and some lions (2 tiles away)
[03/10 09:04] <DaveShack> end of turn 8, 3480 BC, 104g+0gpt, mining(3)
[03/10 09:04] <DaveShack> <Insert Nation Name> News Flash ANOTHER DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE

[03/10 09:05] <Chieftess> Guten Tag!
[03/10 09:06] <DaveShack> it looks like Germany is also to the W or NW
[03/10 09:07] <DaveShack> The Germans and French have met
[03/10 09:10] <DaveShack> end of turn 9, 3440 BC, 104g+0gpt, mining(2)
[03/10 09:10] <DaveShack> scout 2 nervously watches lions circling the hill
[03/10 09:11] <DaveShack> scout 1 moves into a forest and discovers there was a panther
waiting to pounce if they'd gone to the grass tile instead
[03/10 09:12] <Chieftess> Lots of animals.
[03/10 09:12] <DaveShack> End of turn 10, 3400 BC, 104g+0gpt, Mining(1), saving and
uploading
[03/10 09:14] <DaveShack>
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/26840/C4DG2_BC3400_Turn10.Civ4SavedGame
[03/10 09:14] <Chieftess> opening
[03/10 09:15] <Strider> I haven't seen this in a long time..
[03/10 09:15] <Strider> Brings back memories..
[03/10 09:15] <Chieftess> Press it!
[03/10 09:15] <DaveShack> not enough culture yet, but it's a start at having real chats
again :)
[03/10 09:15] <Strider> That's actually what I was thinking CT ;)
[03/10 09:16] * Chieftess would have the Random Music Generator, but Windows Media 11
doesn't like any of the radio file formats...
[03/10 09:16] <Strider> Get winamp..
[03/10 09:17] * Strider needs to find a script for that..
[03/10 09:17] <Strider> The one I use to have only works with Winamp 3..
[03/10 09:18] <DaveShack> <Insert Nation Name> News Flash On a sad day for <insert nation
name> we have heard rumours that world traveller and successful diplomat Scout 1 was
ambushed by panthers in the forest, and eaten
[03/10 09:18] <DaveShack> :(
[03/10 09:18] <Strider> Insert nation name?
[03/10 09:19] <Chieftess> Ouch.
[03/10 09:19] <DaveShack> we don't have a name yet
[03/10 09:19] <x730195> lion ate scout??
[03/10 09:20] <DaveShack> panther -- they're nasty beasties. IIRC only bears are stronger
[03/10 09:20] <x730195> oh... what colors should your message have been?
[03/10 09:20] <x730195> black on dark blue is hard to read
[03/10 09:21] <DaveShack> it's light cyan on dark blue, but can be changed easily -- thanks
for the feedback :)
[03/10 09:21] <x730195> the first part is cyan, but the message itself was black
[03/10 09:21] <x730195> looking for settings on my end
[03/10 09:21] <DaveShack> Mining completes and we have no next tech decided
[03/10 09:21] <Chieftess> I saw it as cyan on dark blue, then normal text, but bold.
[03/10 09:21] <DaveShack> the text was bold black with no background, but your client might
have carried the background for the 1st part over
[03/10 09:22] <Strider> CT: The CreativeSound media console is REALLY good for organizing
music, but you have to buy a creative sound product inorder to download it.
[03/10 09:23] <DaveShack> End of turn 11, 104g+0gpt, BW (placeholder, 14), enter NOT hit,
saving and uploading
[03/10 09:24] <DaveShack>
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/26840/C4DG2_BC3360_Turn11.Civ4SavedGame
[03/10 09:25] <DaveShack> this is handy, I have to stop now anyway
[03/10 09:25] <x730195> well done. now we have more stuff to debate. ;-)
[03/10 09:25] <Chieftess> Now Playing: "Somebody told me" - Killers
[03/10 09:25] * DaveShack takes 6YO daughter to studio for birthday photos :)
[03/10 09:25] <Chieftess> Must've been the panthers.
[03/10 09:26] <Chieftess> Just when I get my Random Music Generator set up...
[03/10 09:26] <Grant2004> Good job Dave, I'm sure the citizens will be happy to see the
progress
[03/10 09:26] * Grant2004 has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving)
