View Full Version : How to Mod Terrain Animation?

Hello, sorry but I searched and couldn't find out how to do this, I am just starting modding.

Specifically I wanted to change the graphics on the map for forest and jungle to stop them from swaying in the wind (same graphic, no animation, to see if that helps my poor computer run the game faster). I plan to do the same for all the other animations like burning sands, smoke, ocean, xp glow, etc...

I don't see how to do this in the xml files, but maybe I am looking in the wrong place. Any clues to what files I need to change would be *greatly* appreciated.

Cheers!

I believe there is an option to do this under the game "Preferences"... at work right now, so can't check the name of the option unfortunately... maybe someone who has the game handy can point you to the exact option.

I already have that option checked, as well as the 'effects disabled' option. But those only seem to turn off certain terrain animations (pastures and camps is all I can see).

In the xml for the terrain feature art there is <bAnimated> tag which I changed to 0, but that doesn't seem to have an effect. Most of the terrains and features don't even have this tag.

I am playing Fall from Heaven II, but I think the problem is same in vanilla Civ4 at least for forests and jungles.

I am not sure how that option works with together with the animations, because in Fall from heaven II the windmills for ashen veil are still animated even with that option checked while they are actually frozen in vanilla civ4.
