Which site shall be the location of our next city, as shown on the maps in the OP?

Poll is public, open for 3 2 days.

Edit: you'd think an engineer ought to be able to subtract dates.:hammer2:

I like your last option! Much better than "None of the Above"

That does make you wonder how many here have the ability to vote, but don't want to? Or they got the ability to vote in order to see the results?

Both are very good and needed. The question is what first.

Voted north to priorize production and defense.

I'd agree with fed, the north site provides us with a better defense, based on the current knowlege of where our opponents are it acts as a buffer, meaning they'll have more yasutani (I love that word) land to march through before they can reach our capital. Also because the north site is closer to the opponent it is in more immediate danger of being settled by the AI.

Both of these are good locations, but I think the two-gold location should be our second city. We can get this city growing faster than the North location, and more important can more quickly make this a powerhouse commerce and science city.

Our mid-term research goal is COL so we can grab Confucianism. We are still many techs away from this so we’ll need to ramp our research rate so that the AI doesn’t beat us to it. The two-gold city (should we call it Twin Peaks?) alone will soon be able to fuel much faster research than our capital and the North location combined. The fact that this city gives us access to horses is just icing on the cake.

The argument that the North location has important strategic value is well-taken. We should definitely settle this spot as our third city. However, we haven't yet seen the borders of the AI so it's unlikely that it will be ready to nab this spot before we'll have produced a third settler.

Horses first, we need to get chariots out against barbs asap.

As a strategic 3rd city, I'd kinda like to see the copper to the NW included in the mix. That will be a good followon discussion. :D

There was an error in poll creation, it was meant to end before the play session. The ending date has been adjusted accordingly.

Second city to north first then 3rd city to east. I might change the decision regarding the 3rd city if there is metal around......

Yes you can, but it might be good to wait until we're near to completing another settler.

well some people were complaining about the fastness of chosing the elder, the name of the city and i guess is location if not officially the one that lost the poll for the second city spot...
