Did anyone of you see the English settle South Africa in the last Vanilla version? In my game when I was using the last version England did not settle South Africa, it (South Africa) went to Spain (I mean, was settled by Spain) instead, and in my another game it is already 1800's and South Africa is empty...

Or is it just me?

If the AI settled in an empty Spain, she probably did it just for using its "common sense". You know, not everything is scripted. If you were England, won't you do the same?

If the AI settled in an empty Spain

I meant that Spain settled in South Africa, instead of Argentina. The latter was settled by Romans...a werid game that was. :crazyeye:

Rome does seem to take South America often in my games

Appropriate since it's LATIN America, ROFL...

Come to think of it, since Latin countries (Roman offshoots) went and conquered the Americas, why can't the mothership, hehe...

PLUS, IIRC 1 out 5 Argentinians and 1 out 6 Brazilians is of Italian origin!

(conspiracy: I think our Italian master coded it in... but don't tell him we're onto him)

I think romans go after Argentina just because it's a good ground to settle. And I have also seen Spanish on Africa. But this is apropiate to history: there was an Spanish Guinea, if you can remember, where today is Equatorial Guinea, on central africa, where Spain usually settles. They usually conquer the barb city of Mbanza Kongo, that was conquered by Portuguese in the XVIth century. Think that, in this mod, Spanish represent also Portuguese, who had huge presence on Africa.
