 Whoops. Thanks and fixed.
NKVD Mar 25, 2007, 11:00 AM cartographer for me...
ice2k4 Mar 25, 2007, 12:14 PM cartographer for me...Cartographer is an unofficial position, usually the deputy of someone. (In this demogames case it seems to be the chieftain.) Once the Chieftain is elected ask him for the position as cartographer.

dutchfire Mar 26, 2007, 12:40 PM It might be an idea to put declined after all people who have accepted other nominations.
For example I've accepted my nomination for elder of the capital, and therefor declined my nomination for elder of the second city.

Done.

CivGeneral Mar 26, 2007, 03:26 PM Might want to update the Public Defender since I just self-nominated (Though I take it you were updating while I was giving my long paragraph statement ;) )

Since Cartographer and history office are unofficial...does this mean people can run for those two and an official seat?
CivGeneral Mar 26, 2007, 04:25 PM Since Cartographer and history office are unofficial...does this mean people can run for those two and an official seat?
Its silent on the issue, but it referance mainly the elected offices. But yet people in unofficial office are still restricted on running for just one office just like any other person.

No, Cartographer is a position that is handed out or appointed by the Chieftain. In other words you'll have to wait and see who becomes the Chieftain for our 2nd term and him or her for the position.
Scratch that. I must be thinking on a past DG. My mistake.
DaveShack Mar 26, 2007, 06:31 PM I think the struck-out answer is correct. Checking laws... ;)
Edit: Appointed non-official positions like Deputy (anything), Election Office, Historian, and Cartographer are not elected. The limitation is on running for more than one elected office. So neither currently holding one of these appointed positions, nor the intent to hold one, has any effect on running for an elected office.
The above is just my opinion of course, you'd need to ask the Judiciary if you want a formal opinion.
NKVD Mar 26, 2007, 09:03 PM so i'm asking them... :)
I dont really want to run for an office unless somebody wants me somewhere except for History (which seems death right now) and cartography which is a hobby for me. I'm seeing CivGeneral wanting to become chief justice...err deputy something, so i see my chance! :)
Methos Mar 27, 2007, 05:15 AM Final Update. Nominations are now closed and polls will open shortly.

DaveShack Mar 27, 2007, 11:50 AM I have a question of fairness regarding when nominations closed. The nomination threads said they would close by "2pm on March 27th (1900 GMT)" but were actually closed around 3am. Isn't this a bit unfair to those who thought they had until later today to accept their nominations?
Methos Mar 27, 2007, 12:53 PM I have a question of fairness regarding when nominations closed. The nomination threads said they would close by "2pm on March 27th (1900 GMT)" but were actually closed around 3am. Isn't this a bit unfair to those who thought they had until later today to accept their nominations?
The actual statement was:
The election poll will be posted by 2:00 pm (1900 GMT) on March 27th and will list all accepted nominations, in order of acceptance.
My actual statement dealt with when I would have the polls posted by. I knew for a fact I would have the polls out no later than 2:00 pm, but I was hoping to have them out prior to leaving for work. It was also my understanding that nomination threads were to be open for three days, which is 72 hours. If you check my nomination threads they were closed after the 72 hour mark.
I do apologize as I did not make it clear when the nomination threads would close, nor did I make it clear when the polls would start. I was going more off the latest time I knew they would be posted by. I just happen to have enough time prior to work to get them up.
Even though I did not make myself clear, and I apologize for that, the nomination threads were open for the allotted time as stated in our laws.
dutchfire Mar 28, 2007, 10:11 AM Dave, how many registered voters are there?
DaveShack Mar 28, 2007, 01:18 PM The user group has 124 members, obviously most of which aren't actually voting.
NKVD Mar 28, 2007, 08:06 PM The user group has 124 members, obviously most of which aren't actually voting.
even less than you think since I voted 9 times...
