I'll post what we have here soon. If you have any XML knowledge and are interested in helping, please download this and help us to debug.

We have one very persistant and nasty bug that isn't going away, and it crashes the game right before an actual game is about to start.

Was looking under the assumption it was for Warlords, and later looked it was for Vanilla, darn.

May I suggest you start making it for Warlords, now, while you havent got so much data and files, alot easier to convert then? Just my opinion.

I would help ya, but someone who edits your stuff puts a square box at the end of each tag, and i am not used to that and "to me" i cant edit correctly then(to jumbled up), and besides it VANILLA:blush: .
I tried.

How's your bug search going thomas? I have a hard time believing it's from that file, but there's a first time for everything.

thomas.berubeg
Apr 30, 2007, 01:08 PM
really? i'm still going through it... most of the people we've talked to seem to think it is in that file.

if you want, you can take look... good luck, and thanks.

Why do you think its in that file?

thomas.berubeg
May 01, 2007, 01:33 PM
 i honestly don't remember... we had figured it out back in november. perhapes Elda king remembers. i've since then tried periodically to go through it to find the error. it was only at chugginator's urging that i decided to redo that file.

i found something strange in it though: the vanilla version doesn't have 16 references for each leader. isabella, i beleive, only has twelve and frederique has fourteen. any idea why?

May 01, 2007, 01:34 PM
Frederique?

Any specific reason that the <Response> tag is in quite a number of times more inserted then the </Response> tag? In the CIVDiplomacyinfo.XML file I mean?

thomas.berubeg
May 01, 2007, 02:12 PM
no... i never noticed that... do you mean in ours or in the vanilla file?

GeoModder
May 02, 2007, 08:30 AM
In the ARDA mod diplofile.
Is it normal the mod can only start with a worldbuilder map so to speak?
In any case, there is indeed a xml alert (LEADER_)for the diplomacy file when starting up the mod, and it blocks the mod from starting up. The two other xml errors don't do this (or so it seems).

 what do you mean by this?

GeoModder
May 02, 2007, 01:12 PM
Well, I can't choose a maptype, so it must be from a premade map, no?

thomas.berubeg
May 02, 2007, 01:14 PM
I've always been able to choose a map type  we want this mod to work with the normal map generator. we don';t want this to be specifically middle-earth.

i'll have to look into that, thanks.

sicnerely,
thomas

Might be because I copied from the wrong .ini file. I needed to create one since the download only has an Assets folder. :)

i am redoing it, though i don;t really have the time too today. i'll send it to you when i finish.

Mmm, this might be the cause of a bug.
In the civipedia, I can select info about a barbarian civ. But this barbarian civ has no diplo quotes in the bugfile.
Could it be that since you guys made this barbarian civ accessible in civpedia, but has no contact links ingame it breaks down? I think it's worth trying to remove the barb civ from the pedia and look what gives.

Try this out before you redo the file. ;)

thomas.berubeg
May 02, 2007, 02:38 PM
i'll try that tomorrow: the barbs show up as a playable civ in the civ selection screen too: any idea why that is?

edit: i just checked: nowhere in the civilizationinfos file does it say that the barbs should be playable:

<bPlayable>0</bPlayable>
<bAIPlayable>0</bAIPlayable>

<Leader>
<LeaderName>LEADER_BARBARIAN</LeaderName>
<bLeaderAvailability>0</bLeaderAvailability>
</Leader>

Any idea what is going on?

GeoModder
May 02, 2007, 02:47 PM
Nope. Just gave you guys a possible reason why the mod CTD's. I'm not about to delve mucher deeper into this with 3 other mods awaiting my attention. :)

Aww... But if we see it from the bright side, have you heard of the swedish car koinsegg? koinsegg is a luxory sports car brand and each car is special. Anyway, the maker of the car builded the first one, then the garage burned down to the ground - whith the car. So he builded it again, but that time whith new and better finesses and so on. Maybe this mod can be like koinsegg...

I hope... i've finsihed my part of redoing the civs, i'll upload it here later today.

Just a reminder to those checking out the Mod for the first time. This is very out of date information. Please check out the threads dated for 2009. We are mainly in the Discussion stage of restarting this Mod!

Thanks, and enjoy!
