View Full Version : FFH2 Warlord edition Khadras2007 Mar 28, 2007, 10:40 AM Does exist FFH2 compatible with Civ4 Warlord? If yes, please give me the download link! Kael Mar 28, 2007, 10:43 AM From the FAQ: Q: Are there plans to update Fall from Heaven to run with the Warlords expansion? A: No, there are a few features in Warlords that we have backported to Fall from Heaven but we won't be making Fall from Heaven into a Warlords mod because we don't feel that the new features justify the time it would take to convert and we don't want to require players to have to have Warlords to play Fall from Heaven. Players with Warlords installed can still play Fall from Heaven if they use their vanilla Civ4 CD. We will be porting Fall from Heaven to the Beyond the Sword codebase when it is released. MrUnderhill Mar 28, 2007, 11:20 AM We will be porting Fall from Heaven to the Beyond the Sword codebase when it is released. What's that? cvlowe Mar 28, 2007, 11:30 AM From the FAQ: Q: Are there plans to update Fall from Heaven to run with the Warlords expansion? THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! :D I bought the chronicles boxed set- which is advertised as including every expansion pack- only to find I was fooled by amazon.com & Firaxis false advertising. Every expansion pack EXCEPT warlords. :aargh: :gripe:  [pissed] Warlords had been out 9 months before chronicles- so the only excuse for that was a greedy money-grub. I refuse to ever buy warlords on principle. I don't care if the box set cost another 20 to include it- the reason I waited 6 months for the box set was so I would have all the Civilizations in one nice box. I also second the question- what is Beyond the Sword? MrUnderhill Mar 28, 2007, 11:33 AM [EDIT:] Never mind. :) cvlowe Mar 28, 2007, 11:38 AM Now that was one heck of a typo  Thanks Mr. Underhill:D mindlar Mar 28, 2007, 11:48 AM I also second the question- what is Beyond the Sword? As best I can tell it is the expansion pack that was announced today. http://www.firaxis.com/games/game_detail.php?gameid=16 BeefontheBone Mar 28, 2007, 11:49 AM You sure you should be saying that, Kael? EDIT: Never mind, hadn't realised they'd announced it :) MayNilad Man Mar 28, 2007, 11:56 AM Mmm... If FfH isn't included, Armageddon will ensue. BeefontheBone Mar 28, 2007, 12:01 PM Why would an unfinished mod be included? They've been talking about improved modability by all accounts, so I was expecting Kael to switch over. Apart from anything else, the corporations model and the removal of the civ limit will make a big difference to FfH. cvlowe Mar 28, 2007, 12:08 PM How exactly would corporations fit into a fantasy game? Nikis-Knight Mar 28, 2007, 12:13 PM sounds cool. We'll find a use for corporations. MayNilad Man Mar 28, 2007, 12:20 PM Guild would make good alternative to corporations. @Beefonthebone: when I bought conquests and installed it, it contained DyP which also wasn't completed. Love Mar 28, 2007, 12:26 PM OOC Beyond the swords look very cool MayNilad Man Mar 28, 2007, 12:30 PM double post Nimbus Mar 29, 2007, 03:14 PM We will be porting Fall from Heaven to the Beyond the Sword codebase when it is released. Stupid question time, Does this mean we will have to buy the Beyond The Sword expansion pack to continue playing FfH2 in the future, or will this be more like Warlords where you picked some of the code to import but we did not need to get the expansion pack. Celeborn Mar 29, 2007, 03:30 PM I have a sneaky suspicion that it is the former, Nimbus. Nikis-Knight Mar 29, 2007, 03:39 PM Stupid question time, Does this mean we will have to buy the Beyond The Sword expansion pack to continue playing FfH2 in the future, or will this be more like Warlords where you picked some of the code to import but we did not need to get the expansion pack. Not, of course, to continue playing the version you have, or those that come between now and then, but all the new versions thereafter (or at some point afterwords) will require BtS if it meets Kael's expectations and we port over. loki1232 Mar 29, 2007, 04:24 PM Probably we'll finish up fire with vanilla civ 4 and then shadow will be BTS. JDexter Mar 29, 2007, 04:57 PM ...which is a good thing, since (I hope) many improvements will come with the expansion that can and should be used for the ultimate modding/FfH experience. :) MagisterCultuum Mar 29, 2007, 04:59 PM I thought that Kael said that ffh would move to bts after the final version is complete. feydras Mar 29, 2007, 05:20 PM Hopefully updating to BtS will make FfH work with the latest pitboss. That would be reason enough to do it IMO. I don't think it is too much to ask for people to buy the expansion and support Firaxis a bit. We certainly get our money's worth out of the FfH team's free content. - feydras coko Mar 29, 2007, 05:34 PM Sounds great! Good reason to get this expansion then :) MagisterCultuum Mar 29, 2007, 06:09 PM This upset me at first, since I wasted some money (actually a gift card) on Warlords and haven't play it since I found my original CD. I bought it thinking it would let me continue playing FfH. However, after reading what will be added to BtS I am gland. I especially like the ability to start later into the game. I was going to suggest adding something like this to FfH soon, since it takes even longer to play, but I guess it might be best to leave that work to the people who are getting paid for it. I usually need to give myself and several rivals a few dozen great people at the start of the game to speed the early game. I therefore rarely play as Cassiel, since each Great person I add to my first city lowers the potential to generate Adventurers. Maybe this could also let you start a game as Hyborem or Basium, entering a world that has been auto-played until you were summoned. Arpymaster Mar 30, 2007, 05:26 AM I will buy the BtS if I need it to play FFH2. As someone said before, it's not that much for such a great-super mod cvlowe Mar 30, 2007, 09:05 AM OK probably the wrong forum to ask this in, but since it follows the current discussion, here goes... Does anybody know if BtS will require Warlords? BeefontheBone Mar 30, 2007, 10:42 AM If the Civ 3 expansions are anything to go by, probably not, particularly since Warlords is in addition to the regular install, not on top of it. Not quite sure how they'll work out what to do with people who have both - it may well include Warlords' content for simplicity, like C3C did. cvlowe Mar 30, 2007, 11:04 AM Maybe they should sell a "chronicles" expansion- Warlords, BtS, and a DVD case that can hold 4 CDs so it will still all fit neatly in my box set :) Kael Mar 30, 2007, 11:36 AM OK probably the wrong forum to ask this in, but since it follows the current discussion, here goes... Does anybody know if BtS will require Warlords? You would need someone from Firaxis to answer that for you. AlazkanAssassin Mar 30, 2007, 11:49 AM To quote the official press release: Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword from 2K will require the full version of Sid Meier's Civilization IV to play and will be released for PC in July 2007, retailing for $29.99 JDexter Mar 31, 2007, 04:30 PM Maybe this could also let you start a game as Hyborem or Basium, entering a world that has been auto-played until you were summoned. This is already possible, look at the Rhye's and Fall of Civilization mod (pretty good one, but more like a historically correct vanilla, not containing any fantasy elements). You pick a civ and the game is autoplayed until the birth-date of the chosen civ (i.e. Greeks at 1800 BC, USA 1750AD or so). Would be cool, but probably quite some work to integrate. MagisterCultuum Mar 31, 2007, 05:48 PM I know it is possible already. I was going to suggest integrating part of Rhye's code, but if they would just have to undo this later it might be easier just to wait until the expansion. Kael Mar 31, 2007, 06:19 PM Hyborem and Basium are rewarded races, you have to play to earn them. I dont think it would be very satisfying to let the AI play forward until they create them. Better to let the player plan it out. |
