For those of you who don't know, Firaxis announced a new expansion pack for July, Civ 4 : Beyond The Sword

I think it has a few features that could really make this mod better:

- Sixteen new leaderheads
- Corporations (I imagine a bit like religion but they make more money)
- Better espionage
- Random events (natural disasters etc...)
- 5 new wonders
- New UN resolutions/revamped UN

And many more

Imagine playing RFC with this #drools#

Rhye, will we see a Beyond the Sword alpha version of your mod very fast after release like in Warlords?

PLEASE?

Talkie_Toaster
Mar 28, 2007, 03:18 PM
I doubt it'll be that fast, Rhye's slowed down somewhat. He will have finished his "secret" project by then, though, since it's going to be on BTS :p

So we can always hope...

Hitti-Litti
Mar 28, 2007, 03:26 PM
Hey, we all know that his secret project is a scenario for this expansion. He got the code for Warlords early(a playtester), and converted RFC to it. So now we'll have to wait for RFC:BS. :mischief:

Maybe us loyal followers of Rhyeism will be allowed a sneak peak?

4 months is just going to be too damn long.

Look at it this way: it's the end of March, so unless it's not released until July 28, it's really only about three months.

Thanks for remembering Phallus, good days past behind, may I also remind everyone, new and old, that it was about these days that I started creating the Babylonian Assets, which without the help of some buddys in the forum (Gunner, SilverKnight are among the many that helped me gather ideas ;) ) wouldn't have seen light. Good days gone by :crazyeye:. The work was created after the news about Warlords expanding the civ limit... coincidence? I don't think so.

It seems that Behind the Sword will sum up Civ4 for good, I'm gessing it'll be equivalent to Conquests in its time...

Anyway, better go back now, I just wanted to tell my good friends over here that I still exist, and that I miss the forum dearly... I'm too busy studying for my up-coming exams, and quite frankly I can say that I haven't been playing Civ for the past month and a half.
You can guess that I haven't been doing much modding aswell (I still have the five incomplete Ziggurats plus the City Art and the Abbassid University on halt for those who asked for them ;), GeoModder if you're reading this I'm sorry for letting you wait for so long, but I can't promise anything now after being hooked for 2 months .

I hope you guys are doing well, I'll be making a Mesopotamian comeback after Civ4: Behind the Sword, so it shouldn't be long :).

The answer to that would actually be "Call to Power." :p

I do agree though that the BtS mechanic does sound better than CtP's.

I think they meen the third now, not like the third one they have had. so Moscow is the capital, then something else is the second capital and I am guessing the third capital is a joke, like a play on them having two...

...can a russian tell me if I am wrong please?

Do you think Rhyse and fall of civilzation could come in the standard BtS box as and official scenario? That would be a thought...

I wonder if the dutch or potrugese or khemer are going to make an apperance in Rhyse BtS.

No St' Petersburg was the capital of the Tsar's Russia, the Communists moved it to Moscow to deal with the invasions of the Whites (they were unsuprisingly called the Reds)

 Yes, of course, but before Peter the Great Founded St. Pietrsburgh and moved the capital there, The Principalty of Moscow was the core of old Russia before that, think of Iwan the Terrible if you need a name to connect to.

The dutch could be a minor civ like the celts. The portugese colonies could give european south america more representation.

I have one question: why Netherlands is better than Poland? It was quite important but have less place in Europe than Poland and in many games it would fall before settling first colonial city.

Edungeon
Apr 22, 2007, 10:18 AM
Netherlands could settle all Indonesia, and was a Comercial Great Power, but Portugal is higher in my wishlist.

And we are talking about the BtS changes, and netherlands is confirmed in BtS... =)

There isn't room for Portugal nor Holland.
Do you think we'll get Holland in the game (with 2 plots available) but we can't have Korea (8 plots available).

Btw I would find it odd that the capital of Holland would be Johannesburg, New Amsterdam or Jakarta.

I'd prefer an improved ecology model to the addition of any new civ. If you want more civs in densely populated areas, you need a larger world map (like Rhye's civ3 one). That in turn means longer loading times, a lot of reballancing, etc. If you want to do it, feel free to do it. For me new civs don't really add anything gameplay wise, which would justify longer loading times.
On the other hand don't you think that erosion, lack of (drinkable) water, global warming (that is not caused by nukes but CO2, etc) is an important thing that is even less represented in civ4 than in the previous franchise. Pollution clearing was stupid, pollution leading to global climate change wasn't.

coko
Apr 23, 2007, 10:38 AM
Well, it is less represented for the difficult it brings into the game, in how to handle it, it was removed to make the game more...easier in all terms.

Edungeon
Apr 23, 2007, 10:55 AM
And pollution will only matter in the last 30 turns of the game, not very important for me, normally you quit or already won by this date.

And if the Kael mod to speed CIV really improve the speed of the RFC, Rhye can put some new civs =)

Wilhelm II
Apr 23, 2007, 10:56 AM
I know. People have their real life to deal with the drawbacks and hardships of life and PC games to play out the perfect and omnipotent being they always wanted to be.:)

I always liked the pollution challenge of the industrial and modern age, though. Probably I'm the only one.:D

The Everard
Apr 24, 2007, 07:00 AM
Well I would really like to see global warming put in (NOT caused by nukes.)
I might also be cool if for some improvementless spaces could add health to you city - you couldnt turn the tibetan wilderness into a vaste industrial mining area and get away with it. Or perhaps some improvemnet like mines should add 0.25 unhealthiness.

What do you think?
