As several of our community are involved in this project, (Rhye and Blake come to mind, can't prove that 'o course) we may as well voice some ideas that can be put into the expansion.

So, to start off.

I REALLY have reservations about the apostolic palace. If it's intended to REPLACE the UN, it could be a disaster as introducing such power early would limit gameplay options.

Also, if it was included with the UN, that brings up a host of other issues. Mainly around having one not overside the other. However, if it's supposed to be religiously based - and it sounds like it - Only members of the faith of the owner should be allowed to particpate.

Example. I'm Buhddist. I build it, but only fellow relgious allies can be part of it - and only they can be bound by it. Any thoughts/ideas?

New stats, more demographics, losses per war etc! Not needed but cool nonetheless!

You might wanna hold off the complaints until we get some real information about it ...

that would just be against the way of internet forums for gaming. or texans. shoot first, ask later. say, what are doing undermining that?

I'm just speculating, but I'm guessing that the Apostolic Palace will be obsoleted by the U.N., and will have fewer/different options for resolutions (no nuclear non-proliferation treaty or world civics, for example).

Well, duh. Of course it'll only affect civs of the owner's religion, adding a whole new reason to spread your religion. And I doubt it's going to replace the UN.

I think according to the Press Release, Diplomatic Victory will be possible through the Apostolic Palace. Yeah, it makes a lot of sense that it would make religion-wide changes. I imagine the U.N. would still exist, but that Apostolic Palace would end up being obsoleted by the time the UN comes into power.

Apostolic Palace sounds like it will invoke the long requested (not by me but I don't care either way) religous victory disguised as a diplomatic victory.

I'm not complaining. What about my comment says that. It's simply an idea thread regarding anything you'd like to see.

I think it would be really cool. I always felt it was a bit lacking that religion only affected bilateral relations, not multilateral ones. Perhaps now a religious block could launch a holy war...

Same here. July ain't that far away, either. Weeks go by fast when you're at the office 10 hours a day.

I wonder if maybe the A. Palace goes obsolete sometime before the UN?

And what's this "losses per war" thing? Early wars are already tough enough on my economy without additional "losses."

It probably becomes obsolete with the free religion civic.

July certainly isn't that far away, but I think most people would say that working 10 hours a day doesn't make the weeks go by all that fast. ;-)

Sounds likely to me. A "mini-UN" per religion would be realistic and add some nice diplomatic fun to the middle game.

FIX MULTIPLAYER!!! That is one of my request for the expansion. I would also like to be able to play with all 34 civs in a multiplayer earth game.

I'm more interested in the espionage upgrades. will spending money to steal techs be viable?

But they should still have the option, I play mine with 18 on huge all the time and have played with 24 huge with no problems. I am not sure how 34 would go but why not give the option?

Wow please list your specs please. A lot of us are dying to know what it takes for 24 on a huge map flawlessly

I got, a AMD 3700+, 2GB of Ram (Which IMO is the most important thing) GE Force 6150 graphics card (bad graphics card but no problems for this game) Nothing real special,

I think the problem most people have is Ram, and viruses/spam on the CPU which slows it down. My CPU is fairly new and I don't think has very much spam or viruses on it.

I just realized something. If Spaceships are now in launching pads, we'll be seeing a reemergance of the "scuttle the launch" military missions from earlier Civs.

Yeah, I have a few suggestions.

New Civs: First, I'm not gonna say much on new civs other than I'd like to see the Hebrew Civ (afterall the game does incorporate Judaism but not the actual founding civ for that religion).

New Technologies: I'd like more late stage techs before I'm stuck with researching only future tech, something to add a futuristic twist to the game at the very end besides space exploration. A tech involving meteorology would be cool. I'd like a few more techs that would make it sensible to add energy-weapon based military units, orbital weapons platforms, etc.

New Buildings/Tiles & Improvements/Wonders: A water treatment plant to add more health points for large cities, a geothermally active tile and geothermal plants for increased gold per tile, a Space Station Project (to increase production of space ship) and a Fusion Power Plant wonder to provide power to all cities regardless of location and allow for selling of power to rival civs. A weather satellite project to counter effects of random events at sea. *Edit* I'd also like to add a research station tile improvement that could be built in non-city radius tiles to overall increase research point production for your entire civilization, this could be associated with a new unit, let's call it the "researcher" which would be required to "work" the tile so the benefit of the research station could be utilized and the effect could be an additional 5 research points added to your total research output and a small increase in maintenance costs to offset the benefit slightly (for balancing sake).

Random Events: A Volcano tile would be a nice addition to add a random volcanic eruption, this tile should be associated with the afore mentioned geothermally active tiles. Adding earthquakes in association with this tile feature would also be cool. Hurricanes along coastlines. Locality specific epidemics (to affect a few cities within a certain radius of the point of origin, and maybe a few Pandemics to add a random effect on a global scale (originating with cities that engage in a large amount of trade with foreign cities, thereby spreading an epidemic. The airport would tie in nicely with this event). Tsunamis would be a nice random event in association with earthquakes at sea. Losing ships to storms while at sea would be cool with the effect being limited by more advanced technology, meteorology tech and the weather satellite project. Wild fires in heavily forested regions or in palins/grassland squares. Economic collapses would be cool. Large scale revolts of cities resulting in generating a new civ while in game as a result of widespread unhappiness would also be cool. And of course we can't forget the all important meteor impact event, no planet killers please, just a random event capable of wiping out 3 or 4 cities on large maps and maybe 1 or 2 cities on smaller maps, followed by earthquakes, wildfires, and tsunamis if associated with coastal or ocean squares.

New Resources: Rubber in jungle squares to add a little extra shield production in otherwise unproductive squares. Salt peter for gunpowder units. Cotton and Tobacco as luxury goods. And Tungsten for use in spaceship production.

These are just some ideas I'd like to see incorporated into an expansion pack or a new Civ game for that matter.

Hey, I'm just making suggestions. No demands to see them in the game at all. These are just ideas I've been collecting up for some time.
