Hi all,

I apologise if this has already been posted here, but I've not seen it if it has. This is just a simple poll to find how old most Civ4 players are . It is also a public poll....

Yeah this has been done many times.

The average Civ player is older than that of other games I think.

I'm 42. It's kind of scary to see myself in an age bracket ending in 50!

This is the third or fourth thread on this subject, and I just love to announce my age and stake a claim to being the oldest poster.

I'm 22. I'm surprised at the results here. The average age is much higher than I would have guessed.

Wow - amazing, 73 years and playing Civ!! I thought there would be more players of my age (17)...but it seems that most of you are a little older...

Civ has generally always had a slightly more mature demographic than most games.

The average Civ player is older than that of other games I think.

and the average CFC reader/poster isn't necessarily the average civ player ;)

someone asked my great-aunt at her birthday party (about 10 years ago or so) how old she was. she replied "one should never ask a lady her age." she was over 80 at the time, i find that so cute! *giggle*

Games are getting higher and higher average ages.
I remember the early days of Star Wars Galaxies...
Swear the average age was 35.

Then the patch came and the average age is "Duhh I like Star Wars. :D im gonna meet captain KIRK! YAYZ!"

And I'm the same age as my nose but older than my teeth.
Oh such a cheesy refference, possibly giving away my nationality.

I love the funky syntax. What's your Age? Vote Now. I just WISH I could vote on how old I wanted to be. It's just not that easy, dangit!

The Almighty dF
Mar 29, 2007, 12:55 PM
I tried that once.
Gave up after Florida kept me stuck between 22 and 68 for months. Probably still some hard feelings on both sides.

That and when it comes to age, I believe I'm a communist. When I age, I think everyone else should age too.

Yes, I remember a very large one in the Civ3 Discussions a year or two ago. I think there were 700+ votes (!), looking similar to this one. I meant "if this has been posted here" as being the Civ4 discussion forum (but maybe its been posted here too?). Seems pretty much the same as the ages for Civ3 players at the moment. Keep voting :D!!

I will be turning 25 today, and the Civ franchise has grown up with me: Civ I, Civ II, Colonization, Civ III, and now Civ IV (I skipped Alpha Centauri... don't like sci-fi). I would have been eleven when I started playing CivI when it first came out. I normally don't play video games, but this one stuck. I will be very concerned, though, if I am 50 and I am still trying to figure out ways to torture Monty.

Jamesds
Apr 04, 2007, 03:06 AM
Yes, since the majority are 19-30, on hindsight I should have split it into 19-24 and 24-30. And then some of you 19/20 year olds wouldn't be offended at being in the category with 30 year olds :)

I am 16 years old, and I've always been fascinated by history. When I was a kid I used to rent CD-ROMs of the Presidents and learn about them, also I had a huge atlas that I would play with, arbitrarily redrawing boundaries (I always combined the Dakotas), imagining a potential World War III and who would be on whose side, stuff like that.

So when I found Civilization, it was little surprise that I was immediately hooked.

Going to play it till I am alive, I think :)

56 years old (well, actually 20,541 days today). Started playing wargames with maps and cardboard unit counters (board games) in 1964.

Yes, Civ is the only computer game I play. Rise of Nations was quite dissatisfying, couldn't get the hang of Rome Total War.
