View Full Version : Warlords Pitboss Teamer - Inland Sea - 4vs4vs4vs4
Klammi Mar 30, 2007, 03:32 AM Hi folks, I'm going to launch a new Warlords Pitboss game in some days. In difference to most of the other games I play in, this is a complete new challenge which will need some more communication between the players.
The team finding procedure will be the following:
-I wait until 16 players have joined the game
-Then I will shuffle the players and put them together to teams
-Now the teammembers have some time to choose their civs
-When all have done this the game is set up and launched
Current state: Game is full.. Teams choose their civ
TEAM ONE:
GFletch
CB Droege
IanDC
Plattfuss
TEAM TWO:
Oyzar
ahandac
Maydrock
MitiuIoan
TEAM THREE:
classical_hero
bjarkekr
g_storrow
NeoVertigo
TEAM FOUR:
Klammi
Johns
Prinz_Vlad
VincentThe88
I have hosted a seperate board for that game where all players have to register. By setting group-memberships it would be able for all teams to have seperate rooms to make their briefings and open discussion threads for general purpose.
Game settings:
Map: Inland Sea
Size: Large
Climate: Rocky
Sea Level: Low
Era: Ancient
Speed: Normal
World Frap: Flat
Resources: Standard
Multiplayer Options:
Simultaneous Turn
Turn Timer: 24h
Game Options:
No Barbarians
No Tech Trading
Always War
No Tribal Villages
All Victories are activated
Feel free to join, but be aware of that this is not only playing turns... it's a Teamer. You should schedule some time for discussion with your teammates.
All you have to do to join is to make a short post here and to register at the seperate board at:
http://klammi.homedns.org/teamer
basmans_grob Mar 30, 2007, 05:00 AM Are 16 players going to fit on a standard map?
Klammi Mar 30, 2007, 06:13 AM Are 16 players going to fit on a standard map?
Yes, they do. I set up the game and the capitols still have an accurate distance to each other. I also tried a large and huge map but in my mind the distance is too far. Helping each other would be harder and the game lasts much longer. So I have choosen standard.
Johnhs Mar 30, 2007, 07:12 AM Sounds interesting. Sign me up, plse.
IanDC Mar 30, 2007, 11:50 AM Interested
Maydrock Mar 30, 2007, 01:09 PM I would like to join.
Klammi Mar 31, 2007, 06:19 AM OK, like I have threaten I hosted a seperate board for this game to enable privacy group-management for the team briefings.
You have to register at http://klammi.homedns.org/teamer in the case you want to join the game.
Thanks so far for the players having joined yet. I hope we fill up the last 11 slots soon so that game can start.
classical_hero Mar 31, 2007, 06:55 AM I will join this and Soon I will join that site.

Hi oyzar. It's no problem if this is your first Pitboss Game, you are welcome. As you read the turn timer is set to 24hours. When all players have finished their turn its flipping over earlier.
There will be enough space to build further cities. But since this is standard size you have to place them thoughtful. I suppose 3-6 cities each civ is possible, but we will see.
Klammi Apr 02, 2007, 02:31 PM Are 16 players going to fit on a standard map?
Yes, they do. I set up the game and the capitols still have an accurate distance to each other. I also tried a large and huge map but in my mind the distance is too far. Helping each other would be harder and the game lasts much longer. So I have choosen standard.
I once again made some tests with the map size. I came to the conlusion that it might is better to set it one step up, since the capitols are very close to each other this might leads to an aggressive start. To avoid this a bit I changed Map Size to Large.
Prinz_Vlad Apr 03, 2007, 07:13 AM OK I'll join your game ^^
greeds from StudiVz ;)
Klammi Apr 03, 2007, 09:02 AM A warm welcome to Prinz_Vlad in the civfanatics community :goodjob:. I acquired him from a german students board.
Mītiu Ioan Apr 04, 2007, 07:28 AM Count me in too. :)
But ... only 2-3 days after Easter ... if possible ... ;)
Regards
classical_hero Apr 04, 2007, 08:31 AM can you put a list of the sign ups on the OP?

Since not all slots are filled up, the game will not start before Easter. I will be away, too. So earliest start will be in one week.
Klammi Apr 04, 2007, 02:12 PM can you put a list of the sign ups on the OP?
Done, thanks for the hint.
g_storrow Apr 05, 2007, 07:38 AM Would love to play.
plattfuss Apr 06, 2007, 09:12 AM If you still have a spot left I am in too
VincentThe88 Apr 06, 2007, 10:14 AM Just registered now.
VincentThe88 Apr 06, 2007, 10:30 AM Question: When it comes time for civ choosing, what will determine the order?
Klammi Apr 06, 2007, 10:57 AM what order do you mean?
VincentThe88 Apr 06, 2007, 11:09 AM Order that we pick our civ in.
IanDC Apr 06, 2007, 11:44 AM I'd suggest duplicates allowed but not on the same team ?
bjarkekr Apr 06, 2007, 03:55 PM I would like to join... If we need to communicate much with team members then it might be a good idea to write our timezones down somewhere and team up by that.
Im in gmt+1
Klammi Apr 07, 2007, 02:35 AM Order that we pick our civ in.
As I wrote in the first post their will be some time for each team to choose their civs. This is done seperate in each team and PMed to me. Then I willl publish the results and start the game.
Klammi Apr 07, 2007, 02:38 AM I'd suggest duplicates allowed but not on the same team ?
Thats also what I thought about. Since the civ choice isn't public duplicates in general are possbile. Duplicates in teams might would not be a good idea, but if any team wish that they should try.

The teams are put together by random. Their will be no timezone check.
What I thought about for balancing the teams is to ask everyone to give a short self-assessment about their skill.
For that I will only ask the following question:
A: Do you rather think you are a noob and hope that their will be someone skilled who coordinate the team
OR
B: You think you are the one to coordinate a team and give hints to the less skilled player.
I will open a new thread for that in our board.
VincentThe88 Apr 07, 2007, 02:54 AM Thats also what I thought about. Since the civ choice isn't public duplicates in general are possbile. Duplicates in teams might would not be a good idea, but if any team wish that they should try.
Ah, that answers me. I was not aware that duplicates were possible.
Klammi Apr 07, 2007, 03:04 AM From now on their is only ONE slot left. I will be away till Monday afternoon and might will not be able to quick answer your questions.
By the way I wish you all nice Easter!

NeoVertigo Apr 07, 2007, 02:46 PM i would like to join this one
cemason Apr 07, 2007, 06:15 PM I'm interested...Is there a spot left?
Klammi Apr 08, 2007, 02:39 AM Sorry, cemason, we are full. NeoVertigo got the last slot
Koelle Apr 08, 2007, 11:48 AM Bis zum nächsten mal also
plattfuss Apr 08, 2007, 01:21 PM It might be good to have a waiting list of 1 or 2 players in case somebody cant make it.
Klammi Apr 10, 2007, 05:34 AM If a player does not show until Thursday he will get dropped and the players I had to reject will take their seat. This are cemason and Koelle so far.
Mītiu Ioan Apr 10, 2007, 07:54 AM I'm here boys !! :)
g_storrow Apr 11, 2007, 04:06 AM where on thursday?
Klammi Apr 11, 2007, 04:21 AM I kicked ahandac out of the game due to the following reasons:
1. He did not subscribed to this thread with a short post as I told you all to do to join
2. He registered to the seperate board but never has gone their to check the progress
3. I wrote a PM to him and gave him time till today noon to answer, I got no reply.
I will write a PM to cemason. He should take his seat.
cemason Apr 11, 2007, 10:43 AM Hey-replied to your PM. I'm in if you have the spot^_^
Johnhs Apr 11, 2007, 10:47 AM Hey, welcome, Cemason.
Another one together, he. :)
Klammi Apr 11, 2007, 11:00 AM Your account is activated. Welcome to the game!

GFletch Apr 14, 2007, 02:58 AM Klammi, sent you a PM.

Rycheman Apr 15, 2007, 07:29 AM Just replied to Klammi's PM, hope i've made it in time to take last slot.Registered on private board and am waiting on my account being activated.Good luck everyone, especially team 1!
g_storrow Jun 05, 2007, 11:23 AM What has happened to the founder?
oyzar Jun 05, 2007, 11:35 AM what do you mean? have anything happened? the game is running just fine no?
Edit: he got eliminated?
plattfuss Jun 05, 2007, 07:59 PM The great Russian empire was extinguished by an Incan tribe that was lucky to find horses right next to its capital. I offered (and am still offering via reload) to wait with the attack on Klammi's last city until one of his teammates can gift him a city but up to now didnt get any response.
Klammi Jun 05, 2007, 11:47 PM Sorry plattfuss, thanks for your offer but I didn't want to take it. I'm dead, that's it. You did a great job surprising me. The game started really bad for me and now came to a fast end. I just connected to the chopper next to me, my spears should kick your ass but popped out three turns too late.
Since Vincent still is on holiday or somewhere else I will play the Koreans until he is back.
plattfuss Jun 06, 2007, 03:42 AM Well, thats good sportsmanship from your side. :)
Eclipse4449 Jun 08, 2007, 10:22 PM How is this game going? I've never played a pitboss game yet and I'm really looking for a chance to do so.
If you have a minute could you describe how you play your turn, what a turn is like or is it a round?
Is there an available slot?
Mauer Jun 14, 2007, 07:05 PM Klammi! You started a game w/o telling me! :p , tell me about future ones if you don't mind :D
Rycheman Jun 15, 2007, 04:52 AM Klammi! You started a game w/o telling me! :p , tell me about future ones if you don't mind :D
You missed out on a great game.Although Klammi's Russian empire is no more , he did a great job setting this game up.:goodjob:
Rycheman Jun 27, 2007, 10:02 AM Just to let my team know i've lost my internet connection at the moment due to severe weather problems storms/floods.Don't know when i'll be able to log in again to take my turns. In the meantime can one of my team mates please take my turns for me.Thanks.I'll get back to the game when AOL restore my connection.

It's covered, thought you might have been hit by that.
Rycheman Jun 30, 2007, 04:21 AM Thanks for that Ian.I've just had my Broadband connection restored, hopefully i'll have no further problems.
classical_hero Aug 01, 2007, 05:27 AM I can't connect to the game or the team forums, which means that something is down.
Klammi Aug 01, 2007, 05:32 AM thank you for the advice, will fix this immediately
classical_hero Aug 01, 2007, 05:46 AM Thanks, things are working again.
deleatur Aug 09, 2007, 10:28 AM For I am here...just in time to get pounded. ;)
I will also join the other forum when I get a chance.
Klammi Aug 10, 2007, 02:54 AM The registration is enabled. Please join our board so that i can disable it asap.
da_Vinci Aug 10, 2007, 03:30 PM I have been approached to fill a void in team 3, pending approval by all of the members (and successfully passing the drug test and body cavity search, I suppose  )
So that is what the pending registration is about on the .org site.
Are there any rules posted somewhere that I should be reading?
And what would be the process for "jumping in" if I am approved?
Oh, and what Civ version is this (my dual install may come in handy), and are you using any HOF mods?
dV
addendum: It appears that I am the long sought-after replacement for Neo that Classical Hero was refering to on the other forum.
Never done pitboss before, so if there is a primer on the mechanics, that would be helpful too.
