How Best to use the City Council? (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=215086)
Workers (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=215758)

Goals:
City Specialization: Reorganizing, or at least setting a standard of how our cities are laid out in the empire.

Government:
Office of Warlord: To create a leader to maintain our military.
Research:
Alphabet: So that we may gain the advantage of tech trading over our neighbors and to boost our power above and beyond that of our neighbors.
Code of Laws: So that we may build courthouses to help manage the costs of our empire and gain the blessings of a higher power.

Note: The above will be continually updated as the term continues and is currently not complete. Hopefully I can update it more with my intentions in the next couple of days. Thank you.

MR. Chieftain...

I would like for you to add "Discuss and start the process of city specialization" to the governments goals. Last game we never got around to it. I feel if we start now we may actually get started and may get our 2 cities on the road to specialized functions.

Will do. The bad thing is I created the discussion in the Term 2 City Council thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=214683), but forgot to add it on my list of goals.

Mr Chieftain,

The Election Results sticky in the main forum and Office Index in the offices forum have not been updated with this term's information. We could also use someone to organize an information office. I'm not volunteering for that job, just suggesting something is needed.

Regards,
Citizen DaveShack

Since no one has chimed in about it, I'll allow you NKVD to hold the history office for Term 2 as well as your Cartography position. I've heard no one else mention an interest in it, so the job is yours for Term 2.

Agreed. Joe Harker, you have the responsibility during Term 2 of the Information Office.

I'm not clear on who issued orders for the 3rd city in the past turnchat. Was it:
- the Elder of the city?
- the Chieftain?
- the DP? (same as Chieftain?)?

Couldn't really tell from the summary.

Anyway, would a Library or Granary be a better effort for City #3 and let the other cities build and send fighting units? This would help 3 get bigger culturally and physically sooner.

The Elder didn't post orders, therefor the DP was responsible.

Correct, the Elder CivGeneral never gave orders for his city, so I, as DP, chose them for him. Dutch and I discussed it in the chat and ended up with a warrior.

I don't think the Elder could be appointed until the city was settled, so the end result was correct anyway. :)

Dutch and I discussed it in the chat and ended up with a warrior.

Careful with that "discussed it in the chat" thing, the Honorable Temporary Justice might take issue with it. :mischief:

Deputy DaveShack,

What will we be researching next? Horsebackriding, Ironworking, or something else?

I suggest Iron Working, it's cheaper than HBR, and it will locate iron.

I agree with iron working especially as iron will play an important part in our miltary though the middle ages, although horse archers i have found are more useful than swordsmen although i have only used them in multiplayer games where the oppements only build axemen.

Since there hasn't been a poll, it's gonna be tough determining what the people want.

Do we want to delay the game session so we can put it to a vote?

It looks like Iron working is the top choice right now... so I could just go with that.

However, we also have no instructions for Trades yet....

Worker Orders/Suggestions

Key: Brown - Road network to be built

First - Road from the River 2 tiles SE of the Third City up to the City itself. Then road the cattle and gold. Farm the Cattle first and then Mine the gold.

I'll buy the road to the city first, but then doesn't it make sense to build the pasture next? We can use the increased production from the cows much sooner than we need the health benefits. Worry about the road after we get the extra food/hammers.

There seems to be some consensus on archery for pottery, and nothing else.

Apr 16, 2007, 06:14 PM
I'm going to postpone this game session until the 18th, to allow for a poll to better clarify our next tech. Looking at the discussion there did not seem to be a clear consensus as to which tech that should be, and there is no poll for that tech. I will start a new poll in order to allow for a vote on the matter.

I also would like if the Acting Chieftain to give more concise instructions for Trades and Worker assignments. However there does appear to be a consensus for trades (Pottery for Archery), that I can use as a guide, along with Elders' improvement requests.

The next turnchat (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=218062)has been announced, please post your instruction before Monday 23 April 14.00 GMT.

If no instructions are posted, the DP is in charge of orders. Just for your information, this is what I will do if that happens:

Follow the priesthood -> Code of Laws path (unless there's a poll with a different outcome)

Worker #1 cottage the floodplain near city #1, start a road to the copper
Worker #2 go to the floodplain and cottage it
Worker #3 mine the gold, road the plains, help worker #1

Suggest to Elder Dutchfire to immediately switch to Oracle in NoneOfTheAbove
If Oracle will take fewer turns than CoL, then start HBR -> IW and take CoL when Oracle completes.
Else if Oracle will take more turns than CoL, then start CoL -> HBR, take Civil Service when Oracle completes.

If Oracle completed by another civ, switch to CoL, if we're not already researching it.

To make these instructions just a bit clearer,

- what action should the DP take if Oracle and CoL will take the same number of turns?
- given that someone may beat us to the Oracle, perhaps researching CoL makes sense even if we *might* get it a turn or two sooner via the Oracle. That way we lock in the arrival of CoL and if we succeed in building the Oracle, we get CS as a bonus. The worst case may be almost building the Oracle and then having to start CoL at that late date.

I disagree, if we decide to try and get CoL via the Oracle then we should stick to that and not "waste" :science: on CoL that we can better spend on other techs.

I don't have a real strong feeling on this, but if we can get CoL in about the same time either way, it seems like a better deal to use the Oracle for CS (1144 hammers) rather than CoL (500 hammers). This is assuming that we have the choice of both of these from the Oracle, something I don't really understand.

As the term is coming to an end you all already know I plan on leaving. Unfortunately here lately I'm finding myself neglecting my duties almost totally here in the DG. I don't feel this is right to our nation, so I think I'm going to go ahead and pass on my responsibilities as Chieftain to DaveShack now.

I apologize, but I figure this is best for the game and me.

Several things that I meant to finish, but didn't:
Amendment to the Office of Warlord: I believe it's ready for polling.
Chieftess's TCIT: I was really happy she postponed, as I wasn't ready. Hopefully DS can get to this before tomorrow.

There's others, but those I know are needed quickly.
