Well, there appears to have been a simple solution to the kernel panics on my dual 800 when running Civ III. Replace the motherboard. I brought it in after my ethernet port died and got a replacement under warranty. Looks like Civ III was the miner's canary here. :D

I too had to have the motherboard replaced on my dual 80. I experienced kernel panics to the tune of about 1 an hour.

Now it's running along dandy with nary a trouble in sight.
