Is vanilla Vista-compatible? If it is, BtS will be too. (Read: I don't know for sure, but chances are really, really good that it will be.)

Vanilla and Warlords run perfectly on Vista, so I'll be very disappointed if BtS doesn't run on Vista.

Can't imagine what type of high-end computer can run a huge map BtS game on Vista without any slow down in modern era.

You'd be suprised, you don;t need -that- much of a beast to run a huge game of Civ on Vista.

I cannot get Realism Warlords to run on Vista. Can get to start screen but then it goes directly to You Lost. Any ideas?

I have Windows Vista and both Civilization IV and Warlords work perfectly.

SO Vista Is considerably bigger then XP Im guessin? Sucks we can't make any head way with these Huge maps. A soon as the average computers specs start to creep up, we get thrown back with another raised platform. (-Vista -Added content of BtW-)

All new computers will have Vista so thats like stamping em with a handicap right of the assembly line making older XP systems that much closer to playing huge maps the same.

ALso if its not like CIv3, where performance improved with Xpaks, then all the added content placed on those same huge maps will slow us down from where we where playing Warlords levels of data. Thats just considering if all variables remain the same, Like say you loaded a save from Modern on WArlords over to BtS to resume play. All those extra units, added wonders, new diplo choices, techs, resources, all that extra stuff will make that same game very much heavier in comparison.

I image these two setbacks if we take em, will send us back quite aways from where we've progessed (patches, upgrades, new computers) meaning back to the heavy complaints again :(

When adding Vista and Xpak, The ones who were able to just get by with teh skin of their teeth will finnaly be nudged into ocasional annoyances when playing huge maps. The less fortunate who already put up with delays will cave under excess laggage or spend more cash for upgrades.

Well...my personal experience of Warlords, on a low-end system, is that it turned out to be considerably faster for me than Vanilla was. So perhaps there is hope.
