Downloaded latest patch via the games upgrade facility, but then nothing happened. How do you install it? Restarted game but the upgrade hasn't happened. Any ideas would be good.

Download the patch directly, there is a stickied thread on this at the top of the forum. EDIT: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=209695 gallego May 16, 2007, 04:35 PM I think the game's upgrade tool downloads the windows patch. When I used it, I got a .exe file that I couldn't run in /documents/Civilization 4 Warlords/Patch. Maybe Aspyr could fix it to link to a mac patch in the mac version? ChiefSparkY May 21, 2007, 07:20 PM You'd think, wouldn't you? 5150 May 23, 2007, 08:07 PM They haven't been able to do much else right. Why expect them to get the simple things correct? benjiface Jun 07, 2007, 12:48 PM Ghosteyes- I have had the same problem. Downloaded the patch, but it hasn't seemed to take effect. For example, Khans and Quin's pictures still haven't been switched. I registered just so that maybe one of the more experienced Mac guys could shed some light on our situation. Should I download the patch again? How do I install it? How can I see if the patch has been applied? Somebody help! Thanks, benjiface narmox Jun 07, 2007, 01:26 PM Ghosteyes- I have had the same problem. Downloaded the patch, but it hasn't seemed to take effect. Simplified: don't use the in-game patching utility, download the stand-alone patch and install that. Narmox benjiface Jun 07, 2007, 10:07 PM Read the first reply in this very thread. It said it was installing it on the Hard Drive and still no luck. Any suggestions? Bazzalisk Jun 08, 2007, 02:17 AM Well, I had read that link before. I read it again. Downloaded the same patch. If your right-click on the "patch" file (or ctrl-click, I guess) and select "Show Contents" somewhere buried inside it is a Civ IV executable. Pull that out and drag it to wherever you installed Civ IV on the Hard-drive, replacing the current executable with it. AlanH Jun 08, 2007, 08:31 AM You can tell whether the patch has been applied by selecting the executable in the Finder and using Get Info in the File menu (or Command-I) to check its version information. The bit in brackets is the build number and represents the patch level. For Civilization IV at patch level C you should get Version: 1.61 (25318) For CivIV Warlords at patch level B you should get Version: 2.08 (25430) (a) Do you have multiple copies of the application on your hard drive? (b) If your Civ4 application folder is saved in a strange place on your hard drive, or has been moved, the patch installer may have put the update files in s silly place. Use Spotlight to see if 'Civilization IV' has appeared anywhere else on your hard drive. benjiface Jun 08, 2007, 10:35 AM Alright, these are good suggestions. I will have to check on this when I get home. I will let you know if I can figure it out. I appreciate you guys trying to put this in lehman's terms, as I need it simple to understand it! Thanks, benjiface benjiface Jun 30, 2007, 02:29 PM Well, I read that suggested sticky for the hundreth time. I even checked on my version of the game. I have got the patched version of both Warlords and Civ- and yet still, the game does not seem to have applied the changes that were supposed to take place. For example, the switched pictures of Khan and Huang remain incorrect and unswitched. Also, my game map occasionally blacks out the resources and units every so often. I am frustrated. Any suggestions? |
