Ok, if Theodore Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson were in a fight, which one would win? Both are pretty badass presidents. On the one hand, Roosevelt was a Judo Brown Belt and went on many dangerous hunting expeditions. On the other hand, Jackson was born in a log cabin (very manly) and had a bullet lodged in his chest from a duel for most of his life (after being shot in the duel, Jackson proceeded to take his shot and killed the man). Both men were respected military figures and both were considered to be the every-man's president. This might be a tough choice, both are exceptionally manly and it might be hard to choose. Thoughts?

Depends on the setting, in a more formal Boxing/wrestling I think Theo would, In a pistol duel or a brawl Jackson would win

In a physical battle, I'd say Roosevelt. Jackson was 6 foot one, but really scrawny, and Roosevelt kept himself in good shape.

The Bull Moose has my money. His idea of fun would be to get from point A to point B in a straight line: this meant climbing trees in the way, swimming through streams, cutting through brush, etc. Before becoming president, he was a deputy sheriff in North Dakota.

TR has an even bigger advantage if this fight is by age of becoming president; Roosevelt was 19 years younger than Old Hickory when he entered the Oval Office.

If it is by absolute age, then TR would probably win any time during the last half of the 19th Century . . .

If they're both in peak physical condition and it's just a fist-fight, I think Jackson would win. He makes up for in physicality and strength what Roosevelt has in courage. TR wouldn't go down easily, that's for sure, but Jackson would win in the long run.

I guess the question I really wanted to ask is:
Which one do you think is more badass?

Jackson was 6 foot 1 and only weighed about 140 lbs. I don't think he'd win a fistfight.

You forgot to mention that T.R. saw combat in the Spanish-American War & A.J. saw combat in an Indian war & the war of 1812.

Also, A.J. had 3 musket balls in him when he entered the Presidency. One was from a duel. T.R. was shot while President & gave a speech while bleeding from the chest before seeing a doctor.

As far as who's the toughest, it's too close to call. In hand to hand fighting, T.R. has it. In a gunfight, it's too close to call.

Yup. T.R. was built like a brick wall.

If it were a fistfight, my money would be on The Trust Buster, for reasons mentioned above, the biggest of which being that Old Hickory was a stick, and TR worked out every day.

As for a duel at ten paces, I'd put my money on Jackson, but wouldn't be terribly surprised if Teddy won.

As a foreigner, I've only heard of Roosevelt, so I guess he gets my vote :p

You ought to have heard of Andrew Jackson, I would think. He's the guy that beat the limey... ah, British, invading force at New Orleans in the War of 1812. Very tough. My vote still goes for Roosevelt, though.

You may have him confused with the other Roosevelt.
