Here's a B-Movie Hero based on Ash from Army of Darkness. I've been wanting to make this for awhile, and the movie was on a few nights ago, so I sorta got inspired.

Check out the custom sounds for this guy, courtesy of Bruce Campbell delivering all of those classic one liners. Also, thanks to Bjorn for the holster and axe props. Enjoy.:)

That movie is great! But shouldn't the chainsaw be his hand?

Nice unit. :goodjob:

I was thinking the same myself about the chainsaw, but this unit still rocks! And the film wasn't half bad either

This is after he builds his iron hand. Notice the right hand is metal. I know it's small at civ scale.

Wasn't he still able to take the metal hand off, and put in the chainsaw instead?

Yes, I'll give you that, but that would have been overly complicated to animate.

@ Odin, they can use him if they want...

Nice unit Navy, perhaps you could give him a sword mode too?

Probably not for this one, but I am tempted to make Bad Ash...

The sword one could fit pirate mods and the like of that, because of his clothing :p.

This unit definitely gets a prominent place in my Non Sequitur Mod (use any old unit/tech icon/LH etc that strikes my fancy). "well, I was going to do one, ...someday"
:goodjob: Sam Raimi is one of my favorite directors, and Army of Darkness was my intro to him.

For a second there I thought it was the Pokemon guy, and considered putting him in the Playground Mod.

Then I saw his gun.

Great job though.

N-Dawg, this unit is great. I had actually started a Army of Darkness mod a while back. I had a map done and was looking to do the tech tree when my computer had some problems. I am now inspired to pick it back up. Hail to the King, baby! :king:

Yeah, really I will take a look at what I have left. I watched the movie every weekend for a month while working on this. The poster is on my wall. This scenario is a must.

I thought about giving up, but then Sheila said, "but what of the things we shared, the sweets words you spoke?"

"Ah, that's what we call pillowtalk baby."

William, Thanks. I think an Army of Darkness scenario would be pretty cool. Aaglo has definitely made enough skeletons for the deadites, and there are plenty of great units from the middle ages as well as cities, techs, etc... If you're really thinking about doing this, I can help out (maybe with a Bad Ash or Witch unit). Let me know.

Well, I think his hand was actually just metal, and he was always just holding the chainsaw that it appeared to be one. Optical illusion of sorts.

This is an awesome unit, I don't really have a use for it, but it's still VERY cool!

This is a great movie and I would be very interested in an Army of Darkness Scenario. I'm not much of a modder though, so I wouldn't be of much help :(

I thought that too. Never heard of this chap, but he looks great, like all your units...

@NavyDawg he's very cool! :cool:

Ever thought of doing some histrical units? or it is allways going to be modern, fantasy and futuristic!? :mischief:

"Good.... Bad.... I'M the guy with the gun!"

"Look, Pal! The only things you're leading right now are Jack and S***... And Jack just left town."

"Hail to the King, Baby!"

Best freakin' unit EVER.

BTW, if those three Ash quotes from "Army of Darkness" look familliar to those who are not familliar with the movie, it's because Firaxis included refernces to them as easter eggs in Civ III (Good... Bad... You're the one with the Nukes, Hail to the <insert leader title here> baby! are said by the military and domestic advisors, and The only things your leading now are Jack and Spit, and Jack just left town is what some of the AI civs say when taunting you after a conquest or domination defeat.)

Dude, you'Re talking to the guy who owns the DIRECTOR'S CUT DVD of "Army of Darkness" It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I'm really estatic about seeing Ash in his Civ III incarnation (especially your wonderful job).

@ Hikaro, I'm a big fan too, but don't have the director's cut. Does it have new footage? I like this movie because it has very high replay value. No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old.

@ Ares, glad you liked the sounds. The hardest part was picking which lines to not include. "Gimme some sugar baby" came close, but I'll save that for Bad Ash (if I make it...).

"I'm bad Ash, and you're good Ash. You're a goody-little-too shoes!"

I watched the movie twice last night I was so inspired. Luckily I DLed the unit the other day before my internet was cut. I love the sound clips you put in. N-Dawg, could you tell me where you got them from? A soundbite site or just captured on your computer? I have been wondering how to capture my on sound bites from DVDs.

I think with the great discoveries that have been made with teleportation recently, it could nicely be done to simulate the Deadite rush. I had to redo the map, but have worked out a techtree based on the movie timeline and used special terrains to promote AI behaviour to follow the script. I would like to see how the game could be a scenario but still randomize where the Necronomicon can appear to boost the replay value. Once my home computer is back on line I will start a thread and we can discuss this. All are welcome. I must say EFZI is what inspired me, but for me this Ash unit has meant pushing back other projects and get an AoF mod completed.

Hikaro, does your DVD have him actually say, "Good, bad, I'm the one........",? because in mine after he shots Bad Ash, he just says in his cool way, "I ain't that good." I always thought this was a mistake people made. At any rate, this best B-movie of all time cracks me up when I remember playing Duke Nuke'm and vice versa.

One version has the "Good... Bad.... I'm the guy with the gun" and the directors has teh "I aint that good" or vice versa.... I remember distinctly it was different.

N. Dawg: Yeah, the Director's cut has a rather different ending and a few slightly different takes on some of the scenes.
