Welcome to the April 2007 Monthly Tech Icon Makers Challenge!

This happens to be the one year anniversary of holding this challenge

So here are the rules:

1. Everyone may enter a tech icon, as long as:
1A:The submitter is the creator of the Tech Icon
1B:The Tech Icon is the first working version and is therefore new, not posted before the month of the competition either on this website, nor on any other.
1C:The new Tech Icon must be available for download for the civ community.
1D:Cut ‘n pasters can also join.
1E:Upon submission of your entry a GIF,JPEG, or PNG preview of both the large and small Tech Icon must be provided! Two seperate images one 128x128 and one 32x32 please.
1F:Only one entry per person, per month please. You may change your entry at any time during the month before the Jury thread is launched.
2. There is no theme in this competition. Any tech icon can participate!

3. The tech icon maker can choose any tech icon he wants. For inspiration and ideas the first page of the call thread of that month may contain some request by other members.

4. A link to the tech icon together with a preview needs to be posted in this thread April 31, 2007. After that a jury thread will be launched in which the winner will be decided by a 1 week poll.
4a. The Tech Icon file must be posted in the graphics modpack sub-forum in either a new thread or in your library.Do not post the files directly in the competition thread, use a link to your thread. If you plan on doing a lot of graphics I would strongly suggest starting your own library thread. The main reason for this is that if you only post the files in the competition thread people wont be able to find them easily later on.
4b. The preview must be posted as an image not an attachment. This makes it easy for me to add it to the preview thread and jury thread with out having to download the file re-save it as a gif and upload it to image shack myself to make a proper preview.

5. This is supposed to be a friendly competition between gentlemen (m/f ). Please stay friendly to each other at all times...

As for the trophy for the last contest that'll be done tomorrow I guess  My eyes are almost shut for today.

Let the requesting begin...

made for Sword_of_Geddon's Dawn of Tomorrow (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=210154) mod as posted in his Tech Icon Request thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=211135).

This icon's thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5307241) in the graphics subforum. Discussion should preferably be in SoG's requests thread, since it was made to fit his needs.

Download Here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=4537)
The zip contains large & small icons (pcx), the preview (gif), and the palette.

Wow, they are all great.

I have made one to replace Astronomy, but I never upload anything to share, so I wouldn't know how to do it (specially making a read me file).

Well I think I actually know what to do, just the read me file that would be a problem.

Do you guys have a read me file with it, or is just the files?

I dont include a read me file with Tech Icons...only with more complex stuff like Improvements/wonders (and sometimes not even then)

Well, thats great for now, but I think that if William isn't going to run this competition in its entirety, then someone else should do it (Or we SHOULD try to get ahold of Storm Grunt and try to get him back)

OT: LMR, when the spell check told me your name was "misspelled" the closest match was "Bombard"?????? My Spell checker is FUBAR

@Spacer: You and me must be using the same spell check!

It annoys me, because I set it to English (UK), and it still refuses to accept the English spellings, it only accepts the American ones... *grumble, grumble*. Of course, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have that problem ;)

No, although now i can see it very much looks like it. Didn't even cross my mind when i was posting it...

OT: My computer doesnt even try and offer a suggestion... :( but it is on aussie spelling, so its probably too lazy to do it :D

@ Virote...I tend to use real English spellings (Theatre, colour, flavour etc...) to be Ironic(wrong word?)...I find it amusing that we(them?) Americans consider the way British people talk, to be weird or quaint. While at the same time, we have all but destroyed the English language (And all but demand that others do the same)

@William...7 days since you've been online...you only have 5 to post the poll thread...if its not up by noon on the 1st, I will make it. If that happens, Im taking over the competition. I will try to get ahold of Storm Grunt, and get him back running it

You shouldn't really worry about that ;) You may have changed some of the spelling, but all in all it's the British that modified (or destroyed, if you wish) their language. It's a natural process, as languages evolve, but immigrants are naturally resistant to such changes. I've heard a linguist joke that American English is more British than the British English... because it's closer to English of 17th century than the BE.
Sorry for the OT I just have a little crush the subject ;)

 yup, we are in dire need of some consistent commitment here!

This is the first time I upload, so let me know if I miss anything.

If I miss something is to bad too, because tomorrow is my birthday, so I'll be on a mini vacation. But I'll probably be back here tonight.
