This is a game that my mate and I have been playing in a team with the AI's also being paired in teams. Space victory has been disabled. I am controlling Augustus.

It's 1828 AD and hardly any wars have been fought. All of us have been isolated on continents until Astronomy with the exception of two continents to the far west where passage was possible and a war was fought in which Stalin lost a few cities that were razed.
I recently fought a war with Hannibal, taking three of his cities but sadly losing one of them again. I sued for peace as I ran out of steam to continue the war (I only had one trebuchet left). Now I am thinking that keeping his capital was a :smoke: move (read: silly) but I expected to keep Leptis, which was why I didn't raze Carthage.

Where should the game go from here? Should I beeline to new military techs and attempt to conquer all of Hannibal? Or should I quickly rebuild my military and attempt to retake Leptis in another war to secure Carthage? If Carthage is lost in a revolt, what happens to the units inside? Are they lost?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Depends on how close you are to the military tech and which one it is and your opponents surviving defenders. If you're close to say cavalry and your opponent is still at maceman or muskets then go to cavalry. If you're close to tanks and bombers then I say wait. If both you and your opponent are close in tech or the enemies defense was sufficiently weakened then I say regroup your armies and try to overwhelm them. Wen a city revolts your defenders are hurt by it but I don't believe they are destroyed even if your city switches hands.

After some more pondering, I think Steel would be a great idea to quickly build some Cannons. That shouldn't take more than half a dozen turns to research. Cannons have the same strength as Grenadiers IIRC and would be great at cracking open their defence as I have no units with City Raider. Infantry is still too long away as we are lacking several pre-requisites for Assembly Line.

One of my main problems in the previous war was that I had no CR units at all from previous wars which placed me into a difficult situation I am not used to being in (I tend to always go for an early war but being isolated that was not possible) - hardly any units with decent promotions.
