View Full Version : City View
Takfloyd Apr 10, 2007, 05:34 PM I just wanted to know if someone has yet managed to make it possible to see the City View screen in mods and scenarios for C3C. I know it's hardcoded stuff, but it has to be possible to use a trainer or something to make it possible.
Modding is a lot cooler if you can see your creations...
Anyone?
d.highland Apr 10, 2007, 05:41 PM Not possible.
1. It'd crash the game.
2. Impossible to break hardcoded game sequences, unless you are a hacker working for the Underground Chinese Resistance xD
3. It'd crash the game.

Plotinus Apr 11, 2007, 01:33 AM If you name your mod or scenario "Conquests" then I believe it will work.
Takfloyd Apr 11, 2007, 02:01 AM Yeah, I figured that would work like it did in Vanilla, because the game won't know it's a mod. Then again, maybe it checks the files to make sure...
I might give it a try anyway.
Virote_Considon Apr 11, 2007, 05:33 AM Unfortunately, I do not think that is the case. I called a scenario "conquests", and didn't add/delete any improvements, and I still didn't get the City View or the Palace to come up :(
Takfloyd Apr 11, 2007, 07:52 AM What he meant was that if you replace the stuff in the main game folder, called "Conquests", with new stuff, it will still work.

Oh I see now. Many thanks both of you.
I tried following this advice by renaming the BIC and file for the mod 'Conquests' and it failed of course.
THis sounds more reasonable, but we should expect any player designed buildings to show up in the city view ;) Somewhere I heard duplicates of vannila building are shown.
Civinator Apr 11, 2007, 10:41 AM It seems, this question now appears about all 14 days::)

If you try this way -which often ends in a complete new install because the files are messed - make backup copies before you change something. You not only must rename your scenario biq to the conquest biq but also harmonize all other files, that this new conquest biq needs. This means you must also exchange and rename a lot of text and graphic files.
The cityview only shows the old buildings. These graphics can be coutiously changed to other graphics, but I have never seen somebody in adding successfully new graphics to the old ones in a mod or scenario.
