View Full Version : New Unit: Sumerian Infantry (April 12, 2007)
utahjazz7 Apr 12, 2007, 07:36 PM Here is a Sumerian Infantry unit, basically a spearman replacement. It was requested by Mithadan. It's my first unit in eight months, so if anything isn't working properly, let me know. I hope I got everything right though. :)
edit: As far as I know, there were no coordination efforts between aaglo, R8XFT, Sword_Of_Geddon, and I to all release units today. It is kind of interesting that it happened this way though.

Partizanac Apr 12, 2007, 08:03 PM Does this mean, the great utahjazz7 is back??
:goodjob::thumbsup: Great Unit!
odintheking Apr 12, 2007, 08:22 PM Holy crap! Four unit releases in one day? Two of which haven't released a unit forever? It's like Christmas! This is definitely the best of the bunch, though. Is that a new cape? If it is, please post it in your prop section, we could always use more props, :).
Mithadan Apr 12, 2007, 08:39 PM Yay! It looks awesome! I am very grateful for this unit, utahjazz7. Sweet!
Vuldacon Apr 12, 2007, 09:05 PM Looks Great utahjazz7...love the Spear, Shield and Textures for him...Really nice looking unit :goodjob:
NavyDawg Apr 12, 2007, 09:17 PM Great unit, Utah. The kilt texture is really amazing. Good to see you still making units.
Sword_Of_Geddon Apr 12, 2007, 09:17 PM Great unit Utah, keep up the good work. Who knows what unit ideas you'll come up with next considering you created the Rocket Team out of the blue, altoghether one of my favorite units.
god_money Apr 12, 2007, 09:22 PM Great unit! Though I'll be using it for Assyria & Babylon :goodjob:
Antiochus VII Apr 12, 2007, 10:06 PM YES!!!!!! A unit for my favorite civ! Thank you for making this one! It looks fantastic!

R8XFT Apr 12, 2007, 11:12 PM Great unit - another of my "needs" met ;) .
aaglo Apr 12, 2007, 11:49 PM The ketchup-bottle theory proved itself on the April 12th... :)
Great unit again, U7... altough, I think nobody here expects anything but great stuff from you :yup:
Plotinus Apr 13, 2007, 02:06 AM Fantastic. The skirt looks really nice. This will be a much-used unit.
Yoda Power Apr 13, 2007, 07:49 AM Very nice unit Utah. :)
Though I think the attack looks a bit static. He looks like he doesn't use all his potential when stabbing with the spear.
R8XFT Apr 13, 2007, 10:24 AM If you created the props, is there any chance of you posting them over in the thread you've kindly put your props before? This way, I might be tempted to create a couple of matching units in time for Anno Domini Classic's release ;) .
utahjazz7 Apr 13, 2007, 11:30 AM I've uploaded the props, if anyone would like to download them.

Ah, those are feathers?
I thought they were supposed to be wool!
COAtlantis1745 Apr 17, 2007, 07:49 AM Maybe this companion piece might be appropriate? Using the same model and props? :mischief:

CartesianFart Apr 17, 2007, 11:10 AM Should be called Sumerian Spearman.
Partizanac Apr 17, 2007, 11:13 AM http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f70/Fox_Morris/1111_face.jpg
should be called Sumerian Companian or Axeman
Cimbri Apr 17, 2007, 06:12 PM Ah, those are feathers?
I thought they were supposed to be wool!  It is wool. It just has that nice "feathery" look, like the depictions.
If they were actual feathers, the soldier would have to have caught an ostrich or something. ;)

I could do this easily after my EFZI pack.
Cimbri Apr 18, 2007, 03:03 AM Regarding the DBAOL depiction. The black spots on his cape actually ought to be little pieces of metal, a primitive type of body armour. And his shield should have a boss in the middle, like the one carried by the pikeman.
As for the dude himself, he would probably have been one of the better off citizens or a minor noble. His helmet and axe would be made of bronze.
In the unit tree he would appear before the Sumerian pikeman, but fight alongside him until the Kassites came down from their hills and shot them with their bows, after which the Kassites ruled Babylonia for ca. four centuries.
Another cool request would be a simple Mesopotamian javilinman. Wearing that neat wool-feather-kilt-thing and nothing else. Javelinmen were very common in early warfare.
Grandraem Apr 18, 2007, 09:36 AM Looks great. Your animations are always beautiful.:goodjob: :)
