View Full Version : Is it possible to have two Space Victories?

What I'm asking is can you have two different sets of SS parts to achieve a space race victory?

For example, in my Tiberian Sun scenario, I want to have the Brotherhood of Nod and GDI to have "space race" victories, but under different conditions. Nod's would be the construction of the Tiberium Terra-forming Missile, while GDI's would be Tiberium reversal technology.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps answer this question?

Can't be done. I'm pretty sure.

:( Hmm, guess I'll have to find a new way to work in the Tiberium reversal tech.

Hey Commodore, welcome back! :wavey:
Actually, it can be done. SS victory is surprisingly flexible. You can assign "SS Part #" to multiple "buildings", and change the part numbers, and instances of each part, required for victory. That means you can allow different civs to build different parts, but as long as they each have access to one of each required part number, they can still fulfill the victory condition. The only limitation is that each civ still has the same "template", for example 1 Part1, 1 Part2, 2 Part3, etc.
Heck, you could probably even require more than 10 parts by requiring more than 1 of a certain part number, then making multiples of that part number and each one a Small Wonder, but now I'm just theorizing. :crazyeye:

Wazzup!

Thanks, I really needed a way to make that work.

BTW, how's BfNY coming along?

Actually, I just remembered, I think SS Parts act as Small Wonders anyway (only one instance of a part per civ, at a time anyway) so it would be really easy to require more than 10 parts. It doesn't sound like you need to do that, but someone crazy like me might want to.

BfNY... the beta is available (see sig) but I haven't done any work on it since the release. I'll probably get back on it this summer.

Weasel Op - thank you so much. I didn't realise I needed to know this until I saw it. ;) More questions - if it's possible to have more than one SS building for each part then could you make more than one available for a single civ? What would happen if the civ built more than one of a certain part of the SS?

I stand corrected. :)

I don't think I tested building more than one part of the same number. The way I was going to use it, that wouldn't be possible.

Ya this is great for mods that go on to the future. You can spread out space parts all the way from early modern to a future era. The purpose, to legitmize the know how that really needs to be acuired for planet colonizing and at the same time introduce advanced weaponry that better reflects what armys would be flossing at that time.

I had to straighten out Balancer Rl this in this way . Before You were able to complete the space ship midway through the last era so your missing most the cool stuff. > I suck at modding so I just doubled the cost of each part :goodjob:

I hope you offer up a new cool Space race idea. The most original idea Ive seen is Anno Domini's spice road that requires securing stategic resources alone or in combition to build merchant shops to become a global conglomerate.

Imagine a "space race" that requires a 'resource specific' shop (Space Part 1a) that processes the valuable resource(s) so that once that operation is underway(finished), a second shop (Space Part1 b) can be built to churn out the finished product.

THis is a more legit space race and its only possible with Civ3(not civ4  ). The best thing is the way it opens up the need to mobilize for war to protect resources to keep ahead or go out and get some. Very cool
