So, any ideas? I'm lookingfor something thats interesting as well as difficult. It doesn't have to be a win condition either. So, something like "Create the Communist Bloc and nuke the free world" would be what I'm looking for. Any ideas?

Well, this would be really difficult! You will collapse after a few turns after losing the British Isles.

Start as Japan, and show your people's technological prowess by getting to Alpha Centauri without any cities outside the home islands.

Win with Greece using Athens, Constantinople and one city of your choice only.
(I almost did it!)

Win as India without building ANY military units. This has been done before, but only in a vanilla game.

Well, when some AI, obeying that AIwars.py thingy will declare war on you, your only hope of surviving will be mass sarcifising of your workers in order to make the attacking units busy not with taking your cities... kinda cool.

Conquest win with the Inca? Or Domination? Might be impossible.

;)

I'm assuming you mean switch to America, which would be interesting. However, there's no way in hell I'll do that until Rhye figures out how to carry over options. I count on the "Wait At End Of Turn" and have conition fits when I play without it.

Start as Japan, and show your people's technological prowess by getting to Alpha Centauri without any cities outside the home islands.

Interesting. Although, we now have a debate over what is construed as "Home". Japan for a long time considered Korea as a part of their Manifest Destiny, so would Seoul be included? What about the island that correpsonds to Taiwan? Could we also assume it's part of the southern island chain?

Conquest win with the Inca? Or Domination? Might be impossible.

Definitely impossible. Although I was thinking about trying for a Cultural win with the Inca.

for the end of turn thingy... you only need to options>un-check "end of turn"> accept/done . then options>check "end of turn"> accept/done. and everything is fixed.

Montezuma's Revenge: Playing as the Aztec, but only founding cities in their historical area (Guatemala to northern Mexico), conquer all of Europe and North America (notice how I say 'conquer', not settle ;).

Scorched Earth: Playing as Mongols, conquer China and Japan, and thencompletely burn to the ground without resettling or occupying India, Persia, Babylon, Arabia, Turkey, Greece, Russia, Germany, Scandinavia, France, Rome, Spain, and America in that exact order :).

Or do the same thing with Germany, but in reverse.

The Enron Way: Playing as America, try to secure all of the oil resources in the world (they must be in your territory, not a vassal's ;)).

The Native Way: Start as the Aztec, but then send all of your units to where the Native Americans of North America lived (IE Great Plains, Pacific Coast, Florida, Canada - basically everywhere north of Mexico but America's spawning area), and then conquer America and get a cultural or diplomatic victory.

Europe's Triumph:Play as France, The Vikings, England, or Rome, and try to create a 'European Union' by signing a permanent alliance with one of the other aforementioned nations and conquering the rest of the present-day EU members (including Turkey).

Omega-opolis: Play as ANY nation and try to control all of the land squares in the entire world :).

Jihad is Fun: Play as Arabia and make Islam the state religion of every nation (you can be the only nation left standing if necessary), and spread Islam into every city in the world.

Even More Fun With Jihad: Play as Persia, Arabia, or Babylon and nuke Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Brazilia, London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Rome, Jerusalem, Tokyo, and Beijing on the same turn.

Global Government: Play as any country, become UN Secretary General, and then 'unite' the world into a single government by conquering every other nation on Earth (no vassals).

King Marx: Play as Russia, China, or the Vikings (the Scandinavians actually managed to make socialism, at least, a successful way of life and not a blood-soaked tyranny), and fulfill the Communist Ideal by 'persuading' every other nation to adopt State Property, Democracy, Free Religion or Theocracy with no state religion, and Emancipation.

The ACLU's Ultimate Triumph: Play as Russia, China, Mongolia, or the United States and get every nation to adopt Theocracy with no state religion, and burn every Holy City or city with more than 2 religions to the ground :P

Papal Legacy: Play as Rome, staying only in Italy, and then found Christianity and spread it to every city in the world.

Twilight Eternal: Play as any nation and build an empire on which the sun never sets by building, as much as is possible, a continuous circle of your nation's borders around the globe.

Code Omega: Canda: Start as America, but settle all of Canada before you settle or conquer anything else, including Washington and New York (give New York back to the British if you have to), and only then try to win by any means possible. If you can manage it, play as the French or English and settle Canada, then somehow 'misplace' your European cities (use the World Builder if you have to). Hooray for Canada! (?)

Anti-Americanism: Play as Arabia or Persia, OR China or Russia, sign a permanent alliance with the other country, and then use your spies to destroy every tile improvement in England and America without going to war with them.

Armageddon: Play as America, Russia, or China and nuke every city in the world with a population greater than 5 on the same turn :D >D.

The Richest Nation in the History of the Earth: Play as America and try to make 100,000 gold before the year 2000.

McWorld vs. Jihad: Play as America, acquire all of its historical territory, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Seoul, and Babylon, and win a diplomatic victory or Space Race without declaring war on anyone else for any reason other than to get the historical territory.

The Greenhouse Effect: Spread desert tiles across 33% of the world's land through global warming.

Revenge of the Incas: Conquer all of the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and Australia (I actually have some it done before) and then a Space Race.

That should keep you busy :)

Any conquest victory with the four starting civs then. Babylon has been proven to be possible, Egypt might be feasible, the others might be really really hard.

Roman Empire: Reach the Roman Empire by xy AD and then defend it somehow successfully agains the Europeans. Wouldn't that be interesting? You'd need to go on a killing spree early on while still be able to settle all the rest, and you'd definitely need to have time to build the Great Wall (Hadrian, Limes at Rhine, Limes everywhere else) and the Colosseum for flavour.

I think I would have to WB edit in some Praets to pull that off. In previous Vanilla versions I nearly pulled this off (I was a space off on the German span, so they settled and raped me). Definitely need the GW. I'd probably build walls, then whip a barracks, then Praet spam, running on a pure SE. Does Caste System come with Philosophy or Code of Laws in RFC? I forget.

World Police: Play as England, or America, and prevent any country currently existing from being destroy or collapsing. If a country declare its indepence, you have to go to prevent its destruction aswell.

Never gonna happen. The only way to force stability would actually be going to war with both parties at war and killing all of their units without taking a city. Then, when they succumb to peace, for them to peace with each other as well. You could also tech/gold bribe them into peace, but you run out of those quickly.

Montezuma's Revenge: Playing as the Aztec, but only founding cities in their historical area (Guatemala to northern Mexico), conquer all of Europe and North America (notice how I say 'conquer', not settle ;).

Too easy. But fun.

Too easy. In fact, stupid easy (no offense). Having the sino-japan core lets you accomplish amazing military feats. Europe is the same. I would consider it a challenge to limit yourself to Siberia and raize everything else.

The Enron Way: Playing as America, try to secure all of the oil resources in the world (they must be in your territory, not a vassal's ;)).

I think there are a couple that are unreachable. Rhye put in some rules about settling that makes grabbing territory in the far north difficult.

Sounds like a normal Aztec game for me. I always grab the Plains and west coast before expanding south.

Europe's Triumph:Play as France, The Vikings, England, or Rome, and try to create a 'European Union' by signing a permanent alliance with one of the other aforementioned nations and conquering the rest of the present-day EU members (including Turkey).

Too easy.

Omega-opolis: Play as ANY nation and try to control all of the land squares in the entire world :).

Impossible due to stability and settling rules.

Jihad is Fun: Play as Arabia and make Islam the state religion of every nation (you can be the only nation left standing if necessary), and spread Islam into every city in the world.

Possible. Persuading the AI not to adopt a Free Religion will be interesting.

Even More Fun With Jihad: Play as Persia, Arabia, or Babylon and nuke Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Brazilia, London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Rome, Jerusalem, Tokyo, and Beijing on the same turn.

Been there, done that ;D.

Global Government: Play as any country, become UN Secretary General, and then 'unite' the world into a single government by conquering every other nation on Earth (no vassals).

Impossible that late in the game unless you have a major tech edge.

I'll try that as Russia one of these times.

The ACLU's Ultimate Triumph: Play as Russia, China, Mongolia, or the United States and get every nation to adopt Theocracy with no state religion, and burn every Holy City or city with more than 2 religions to the ground :P

That would be frustrating.

Papal Legacy: Play as Rome, staying only in Italy, and then found Christianity and spread it to every city in the world.

I'll try it.

Twilight Eternal: Play as any nation and build an empire on which the sun never sets by building, as much as is possible, a continuous circle of your nation's borders around the globe.

Been there, done that ;D.

That would be difficult to pull off. Basically, you'd have to ignore hostile cities right next to your capital and go for the lesser, throw away, cities. Plus, colonization sucks, so you might be running everywhere trying to claim Canada.

Anti-Americanism: Play as Arabia or Persia, OR China or Russia, sign a permanent alliance with the other country, and then use your spies to destroy every tile improvement in England and America without going to war with them.

Impossible.

Armageddon: Play as America, Russia, or China and nuke every city in the world with a population greater than 5 on the same turn :D >D.

Too much work. I'd rather just spawn 60 nukes and have the same fun without the hasle.

The Richest Nation in the History of the Earth: Play as America and try to make 100,000 gold before the year 2000.

Mali on steroids, I like.

McWorld vs. Jihad: Play as America, acquire all of its historical territory, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Seoul, and Babylon, and win a diplomatic victory or Space Race without declaring war on anyone else for any reason other than to get the historical territory.

Babylon? The Christians would never stand for it! I'd probably raize it and build Baghdad. If you're ocunting Seoul as a "colony" then shouldn't we also throw in Taiwan? How about Okinawa Japan? Heck, the entire EU :p.

The Greenhouse Effect: Spread desert tiles across 33% of the world's land through global warming.

See: Armageddon

Revenge of the Incas: Conquer all of the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and Australia (I actually have some it done before) and then a Space Race.

I'll try it.

That's why you don't get involved in wars between nations that can't kill each other, and garrison units in weaker civ's cities when they get attacked, killing the enemy army as they make a move on your friend. Then you leave troops there to keep the peace. You don't even have to take a city, or if you do, only one.

It requires a lot of careful action, knowing when to attack direct and went to attack indirectly. For example, you could just give units to a defending civ, purely defensive ones, and have them fight the war w/o hurting diplomatic relations. etc

Thanks for the feedback, Whitefire :)

A few more ...

With Japan, settle only Korea and Manchuria :) For added challenge, settle Seoul and Angkor first.

When starting with America, use your boats or something to settle the Pacific Coast, South America, or southern-middle Africa.

With Egypt, try to settle South Africa instead of the Nile floodplains (this may be too hard, with the Impis and no starting troops).

With Turkey, try to capture all of Europe, Asia, and Africa by the historical victory timeline.

Win a Domination Victory with Mali! Heh heh ...

For Germany, conquer all of Europe and Russia by 1900, all of Asia by 1950, and South America, Alaska, Mali, and Turkey --> Angkor by 2000, and then win a Space Race Victory if you don't have domination yet.

As Mali, aim for a Space Race, but as soon as you start building your spaceship, nuke every nation's capital in the world (to prepare for the Exodus, of course) and just before you leave, launch three nukes against every continent to finish the nuclear Armageddon and leave the rest of the galaxy open to your enlightened civilization :)

Bland.

When starting with America, use your boats or something to settle the Pacific Coast, South America, or southern-middle Africa.

See above.

With Egypt, try to settle South Africa instead of the Nile floodplains (this may be too hard, with the Impis and no starting troops).

I'll try it.

Done it already ;D.

Domination is a large investment in time, so this might never be done (by me).

Heh, I'm working on this with America right now. Goodbye global warming!

Zheng He++: Play as colonial China - be the first to circumnavigate (and do it before 1433), have 3+ cities in each of South East Asia, Africa and the Americas before 1800 and succesful invade and destroy a european nation before 1900 in a seaborne invasion.

okay, here's a few I thought up:

Manifest Destiny Denied (America): Expand the United States to its Colonial borders only. Then conquer/settle all of its historical holdings: Puerto Rico, Phillipines, Virgin Islands, Alaska, and Hawaii without expanding the Colonial area.

Cheat History (Babylon): Survive until the year 2000 and completely conquer the following: Persia, Arabia, Turkey, Egypt.

The Third Reich (Germany): Conquer France, Rome, Italy, Vikings, Russia, and Turkey by 1945 and eliminate America as a threat (ie, vassalize it, destroy it, conquer it, or weaken it enough that it has no chance of survival).

Byzantine Dreams (Greece): Expand the Greek Empire into the Byzantine Empire, conquering the entire Mediterranean coastline from Spain down into Carthage, and the landmasses of Italy, Greece, Babylon/Arabia, and Egypt before the Turkish Empire spawns.

Island Hopping (Japan): Conquer the Pacific Empire of Japan and Hawaii by 1944. Vassalize or destroy China and America by 1945.

The Island Nation (England): Conquer all of Austrailia. Change name from "England" to "Austrailia", destroy all European holdings, and try to win the game any way you choose with only the continent of Oceania under your control.

The Greatest Empire in History (Mongols): Conquer all of the following by 1350 AD: China, Russia (land area), Germany, France, Spain, Rome, Greece. You may not establish any cities of your own outside of Mongolia.

Taming the Sahara (Mali): Expand the Malinese Empire across all of Africa to utilize its resorces for your trade. You must cover the entire continent with your culture, or that of your vassals.

Cold War (Russia or America): Nuke every city in the opposite nation on the same turn before 1990 and conquer the following; Russia - Mongolia, Germany, and the Baltic Sea. America - Aztecs and Canada (Establishing the close Alliance the US has with those two areas).

Atlantis (Greece): Win the game by building cities only in island tiles. You must place your capital somewhere in or around the Meditterranean Sea.

Reign of the Sultan (Turkey): Establish the historical borders of the Ottoman Empire at its height and vassalize or destroy any and all Christian nations as revenge for the Crusades.

Onward to the Holy Land (Rome): Complete the following before 1481: Conquer Greece, Turkey, Babylon/Arabia, Egypt, Persia and make Christianity the number one religion in the world.
