I keep trying to see if the checking the High Terrain Detail does ANYTHING to improve the graphics of the terrain, but I see nothing at all!
Does it actually do anything, or is it just an excuse for the game to eat up more of your memory? :p
If you're totally sure it does do something, would you mind posting comparison screens so I understand? Thanks.:goodjob:

If you want High Terain detail, download Blue Marble graphics pack. It comes with both Low and High settings, but both greatly improve the terrain looks.

I don't think it does. I figured it elimated things like clouds then clouds and stars then.... well you see what I mean. It just subtracts more or less graphic features instead of lessening the look of the standard tiles.
You can turn off animations that only effects the resources like fish jumping or bannanas falling, not the terrians 'look' like trees swaying or water glistening.

High detail terrian effects globe view only, it makes it not loose as much detail when you zoom out to view the whole globe.

I thought I was already using the best settings, but yesterday I realised I wasn't. I have no idea what happened there. Now I've got it running in Widescreen with max AA. It's sweet! - like playing the game for the first time again. :)
