View Full Version : What's Your Army?
LizardmenRule! Apr 15, 2007, 02:24 AM The title i think is self-explanatory: What WH40K (or WHFB if you like) army/armies do you field?
Myself, I'm an aspiring Ork Warboss building up a mighty Waaagh!
Also, if you have any pictures of models you've finished, feel free to post 'em, especially if you have done an interesting conversion or an awesome paint job :D
So, what's your army?
Virote_Considon Apr 15, 2007, 03:59 AM I collect the Imperium/Space Marines (leaning more heavily towards the 2nd). I haven't done anything in a couple of years, though.
SWalker Apr 15, 2007, 06:51 AM Necromunda: Van Saar
BFG: Imperial

Stormrage Apr 15, 2007, 04:15 PM Oh, these are very, very nice.
I can`t decide what to collect! I`m torn between the (Space)Waagh!, the Empire, Black Templars, Blood Ravens, some chapter of my own design, Imperial Guard and the Witch Hunters. I don`t know what to do..
Virote_Considon Apr 16, 2007, 02:15 AM You could just say "imperium", and get the best of all worlds :mischief:
aaglo Apr 16, 2007, 02:41 AM Mine is Army of Anyone (http://www.armyofanyone.com/)! :D
mrtn Apr 16, 2007, 08:31 AM Thanks Stormy.
aaglo, thanks for the tip.
:)
Stormrage Apr 16, 2007, 09:19 AM I think I`ll go with the Blood Ravens, the Templars have some restriciting and frustrating rules, and I have some great ideas for a Librarian and a familliar.
Also, I love their color and I love ravens.
Quinzy Apr 16, 2007, 09:42 AM I have a nurge kill-team, a traitor guard that can also be turned into a Lost and the Damned army, an undivided custorm chapter chaos army and a nid army. :)
Ultramarine Apr 16, 2007, 01:19 PM My username says it all.....
http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/8052/ultradreadrw7.png
Ultramarines all the way.
Dark Crusader Apr 17, 2007, 02:59 AM Grey Knights......, Dark Angels, oh and Balck Templars. They all look Cool! I can't wait to at least see the workshop updates let alone the Mod. Truely it was Muffins units that peaked my interest.
aaglo Apr 17, 2007, 04:27 AM If I would start collecting, I would choose:
- Dwarfs (Warhammer FB)
- Tau (Warhammer 40,000)
Stormrage Apr 17, 2007, 09:24 AM But, aaglo, aren`t you of elven origin? You can`t collect stunties! Its, like, heresy! Tau, on the other hand could be cool, I likes me them kroot even more. The Vespid look funny tho..
The templars keep buzzing in my head.. I can`t find a bloody Codex: Black Templars torrent anywhere so I can check them out thoroughly. I have the SM codex (real one, on paper and stuff), so I`m set for the Blood Ravens.
I`m also very dissappointed by the codexes (SM and WH) I`ve seen so far. There isn`t even a full explanation of how one becomes a Space Moron, and you can find a very detailed article on the GW site. I thought the Codex was supposed to be full with "exclusive" info and stuff. Also, not so much cool art as I`ve hoped, I`ve got most of it on my computer.
Virote_Considon Apr 17, 2007, 09:38 AM Not Codex:Black Templars, Codex:Armageddon.
aaglo Apr 17, 2007, 11:31 AM But, aaglo, aren`t you of elven origin? You can`t collect stunties! Its, like, heresy! Tau, on the other hand could be cool, I likes me them kroot even more. The Vespid look funny tho..
Yeah, the surname of my great-grandfather was "Grand-elf" (in finnish though)...
But those "a-couple-feet-shy" are just cool :)
Stormrage Apr 17, 2007, 11:31 AM Oh.. and there I was bleeding my fingers away at Google..
Thanks, Charlie! Imma go get it!
@aaglo - yeah, I liked your slayer avatar best. The coolest stuntie oonit eva!
mrtn Apr 17, 2007, 11:51 AM aaglo, not Grand-alf, then? ;)
Quinzy Apr 17, 2007, 01:31 PM Storrmy- I can send you any codex in pdf format if you want, 'cept the new tau one.
Stormrage Apr 17, 2007, 01:36 PM Dude.. those things are like atleast 25 MB each, how would you send them to me? I`m dl-ing a huuuge collection of 40k books, via torrents (thanks mrtn!), its 1.6 Gigs and it will take me a full day to DL-it.
BTW, I`d like to thank LMR! for opening this thread, I don`t really have anyone to discuss the hobby with, as of yet. Once I start more seriously I`ll hook up with the guys at the Bolter & Chainsword forums, theye seem the decent sort, like most people I know here, and of course, I`ll seek out fellow gamers in Zagreb (and slay them and take their models )
Virote_Considon Apr 17, 2007, 02:07 PM (and slay them and take their models )
I can see it now...
"Ork raids hobby tournament, smashes up a load of a kids models, and takes the rest"
Quinzy Apr 17, 2007, 03:18 PM Hey, all I said was I could send them, not that they wouldn't take ages ;)
LizardmenRule! Apr 17, 2007, 05:53 PM Your welcome Stormy :)
Played my first game yesterday with my Orks with some mates. It was (rather unrealistically) my Orks teamed with an Eldar army and a Necron Force against a HUUUUGE (but cannon fodder :D) Imperial Guard and Witch Hunters army.
I only have two fifteen-strong mobs of Boyz, a squad of Kommandos (led by Cap'n Jakk, I'll post a pic when he's finished ;)) and a stand in Warboss, but they faired quite well, especially after a Leman Russ demolisher cannon blew up ALL BUT TWO of my first mob, and a Sentinel squadron shot the rest. 15 dead in one turn :(
And i managed to immobilise one of his tanks and shoot three Guardsmen WITH ORK SHOOTING!!! I was never expecting that!
Goldflash Apr 17, 2007, 09:26 PM Everyone know I plays ORKZ! WAAAAAAAGH!
In FB,I have Dorfs. I haven't worked pn them in a while, though...
Stormrage Apr 18, 2007, 09:45 AM Not Codex:Black Templars, Codex:Armageddon.
Um.. it seems we missunderstood each other. In Armageddon they are just mentioned and described a bit, but infact they do have their own codex. Quinn, you have this one? (http://oz.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.oz?do=Individual&code=60030101007&orignav=10)
Quinzy Apr 18, 2007, 10:59 AM Oddly enough, no, it's not within my armament :/
Virote_Considon Apr 18, 2007, 11:49 AM When was that released?
I haven't really got anything since the last release of the SM, as I haven't had the time to paint/assemble any of my stuff.
Dark Crusader Apr 18, 2007, 12:06 PM Virote Considon
I believe they have also reworked the Dark Angels Codex.
http://uk.games-workshop.com/spacemarines/darkangels-tactics/1/
Quinzy Apr 18, 2007, 12:43 PM Virote- About a year or two ago. And yeah, they revamped the Dark Angels :D
Virote_Considon Apr 18, 2007, 12:47 PM Sweet! (I hope... "revamped" sometimes means "scrap your old army" :p)
Quinzy Apr 19, 2007, 11:41 AM Revamped this time, I think, means new models, battleforce, and codex, but still letting your old army work. At least, so i've heard.
Virote_Considon Apr 19, 2007, 12:04 PM After reading, I think it just makes my army a bit more flexible. That Combat Squads thing is definatley good. However, I wonder if it lets me have another transport choice or not... (I'm guessing not, because that would REALLY help my army ;))
Stormrage Apr 20, 2007, 04:41 PM I think I saw Whirlwinds on a BT list in Codex Armageddon. Codex Black Templars states that they can`t use Whirlwinds, or Devastator Squads (not sure if those are mentioned in teh Armageddon)
Quinzy Apr 20, 2007, 04:57 PM Maybe they were Space Marine Allies?
Stormrage Apr 21, 2007, 02:41 PM Okay, I`m reading the Space Wolf Omnibus, and Ragnar and his buddies are in an ork infested city, riding in an ork buggy, disguised as orks (stoopid lookin` `orned `elmets) and they have just been challenged to a race!
Since I`ll prolly go with orcs in WHFB, I might as well go with orks in 40k, I love them green monsta`s afterall (lotsa usable bitz too!)
BTW: how much is a "score" of men? 10? 20? William King seems awfully fond of that word..
Dark Crusader Apr 21, 2007, 02:48 PM Stormrage
BTW: how much is a "score" of men? 10? 20? William King seems awfully fond of that word..
I think it would be 20? but that is just a guess. :) Glad to see the Taskmaster back!
Stormrage Apr 21, 2007, 02:57 PM Hey, guys, look, I`m famous!
Thanks for the welcome D_C! :)
SWalker Apr 21, 2007, 03:28 PM 20...........................
LizardmenRule! Apr 21, 2007, 08:08 PM Okay, I`m reading the Space Wolf Omnibus, and Ragnar and his buddies are in an ork infested city, riding in an ork buggy, disguised as orks (stoopid lookin` `orned `elmets) and they have just been challenged to a race!
 Sounds about right :D
Since I`ll prolly go with orcs in WHFB, I might as well go with orks in 40k, I love them green monsta`s afterall (lotsa usable bitz too!)
Thats one of the things i like most about the Orks. You can use all sorts of bits from both WHFB and 40K, and if you make any mistakes, you can just say "they're Orks!" :D
I recently bought the plastic WHFB Orc Warlord sprues, which has given me an Ork Warboss (with converted kombi shoota: shoota/rokkit) and possibly up to three Nobs, using the other Warlord heads on the bodies of regular Boyz, and some of the other bitz from the sprue.
Ryuga Apr 25, 2007, 06:10 PM 40K
Ultra marine w/ grey knights detachment. Few in number but hits hard and harder to fall.
For WF, Elves and dwarves. These two armies are contradiction in turns of strategy, but both are fun to play.
Schloss Ritter Apr 27, 2007, 04:27 AM I have a decently sized 40k Imperial Guard army, ~2500 points worth under the original(?) 3rd edition IG codex. Many of the models are the Catachan variants, and I have that codex (now outdated). I have the revised circa 2003 codex (with the regiment rules), but I never got to play using them as I haven't played 40k since about then.
I am somewhat proud of my squadron of uniquely posed 12 Sentinels (up to 3 each per Fast Attack and 3 heavy flamer variants attached to command squad) though they had traditionally been abalative armor for my tanks (having to be fired at first for being nearest).
Oh and anyone who thinks Chaos Marines are just Space Marines with spiky bits is horribly wrong. My IG armies have an almost flawless record against Chaos, but every time my IG play wargames against SM they get horribly devastated. I guess it's because the few Chaos I take out are worth more points than the few SMs I manage to get. Also, I have yet to take out a SM Land Raider, even with Lascannons (stupid BS of 3) - I can't get close enough with anything else.
RKP May 11, 2007, 06:55 AM For me I have three armies and battle fleets. I have the Night Lords for Chaos, Space Wolves for the Marines, and am presently building a Imperial Armor unit. Again it is a Night Lord, Space Wolf, and Imperial for the fleets. The armies are the standard 1,850 pts and the fleets are 1,500 pts.

Stormrage May 14, 2007, 03:50 AM Can any of you post any pictures? :)
LizardmenRule! May 14, 2007, 05:07 AM I will be posting some pictures of my current Waaagh! soon :)
I have:
*30 Slugga Boyz (Half almost completely painted, the other half 1/4 of the way through)
*12 Shoota Boyz (Just plastic at the moment, not even a primer :p)
*A Warboss and a Nob (Converted from the WHFB Orc Warboss box)
*Lukky Pegz (a Skarboy im using as a Nob)
*6 Kommandos (Closest to finished that i have, and da Nob is Cap'n Jakk AARGH!!)
And coming soon:
*20 'Ard Boyz (Converted from the new plastic Black Orcs)
*Wartrukk (Converted from an old Tonka toy truck :D)
Stormrage May 14, 2007, 06:37 AM Can`t wait! :D
Are the new Black Orcs really that cool as they show them? :)
LizardmenRule! May 14, 2007, 06:51 AM Well, they havent been released here yet (everything gets released late here: movies, games, everything)
I have them on advanced order tho :)
LizardmenRule! May 15, 2007, 10:27 PM Okay, here are some pics of my Ork Warband
The NITEHORKZ
The name i use in Halo is NightHawk, so I just used that, although i had to Orkify it first :D The clan colours are black, yellow and white
First up i have a pic of some of the Ork Boyz. The one in the middle is armed with a Burna and the two on either side have Big Shootas. The Big Shootas were converted from two Shootas; the barrel cut off one and glued to the other (the Games Workshop sites have a article about this). The burna was converted from a gun from toy soldier that i found, and his fuel tank is the body of a lego man :p
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/OrkBoyz.png
The Kommandoz are led by Cap'n Jakk (please excuse the poor photos, the camera i have either hates me or can't focus properly). His hat i got from a Lego man, and the hair and beard are green stuff.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/Kommandoz.png
This is the Wartrukk i'm converting from a Tonka toy truck. I cut open the cabin at the front to make room for a driver, and the armour plates along the sides are pieces of icecream container lids and the rivets are slices of bits of the Ork Boyz sprue. battle damage was done with a stanley knife and a number one drill bit.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/Trukkforwardside.png
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/Trukkside.png
what i like the most about the trukk is that i have used some lego parts to make the weapons easily interchangeable. I used two of those cyclindrical bits for the stand, and another piece on each of the weapons
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/LegoBitz.png
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/Rokkit.png
the other weapons is a Big Shoota. both weapons were made using lego pieces, the rokkits are the ends of golf tees and the two guns of the Big Shoota are leftover Ork Shootas
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/TrukkShoota.png
so there you have it. i havent shown any of the stuff that i havent painted apart from the trukk, and i have another mob of Slugga Boyz and a mob of Shootas
Stormrage May 16, 2007, 07:46 AM .. you are insane! :D Great pictures, great conversions! :D Lego orks
LizardmenRule! May 16, 2007, 08:54 AM I'll take that as a complement :D
Unfortunately, they havent won a battle by themselves yet. i did win against the IG/WH army with Necron and Eldar allies, but it was mainly the other guy who did most of the killin'
I've played two games against Black Templars, losing the first one badly to shooting (my boyz were mowed down almost completely. i think i only got into closecombat once!), and having found i had only ONE MODEL capable of damaging his Dreadnaught (Cap'n Jakk and his Power Claw). Now i always take Tankbusta Bombz for my Piratz
the second game was tight, but i eventually lost. this game was better because we used terrain, which blocked his shooting somewhat, and i managed to destroy both his landspeeders (one of them a typhoon) with minimal casualties.
I'm hoping that the adding of my Trukkaz and da 'Ard Nutz (those Black Orcs i was talking about before. they come out in a week. woot! :D) will help sway this a bit, getting my Trukkas into close combat to limit his shooting and it can also (hopefully) kill a couple with either the rokkit or big shoota, and the 'Ard Nutz getting a 4+ armour save. my boyz only have a save of 6+ :(
Stormrage May 16, 2007, 09:09 AM How did the game against the Black Templars go? They`re not known as a shooty army..
I`m very interested in them as an army, love the whole Crusader theme :)
Virote_Considon May 16, 2007, 11:55 AM @LMR: Cool models :) Ever thought of lootin' a Land Raider? One of them should help out ;)
Failing that, a looted Rhino could be converted into a razorback, without much trouble :)
LizardmenRule! May 16, 2007, 10:45 PM A looted Landraider (as a Battlewagon, i would presume) would be cool, but one big problem is that i'm cheap i havent got a job, so i dont have heaps of money. hence the many conversions :)
@ stormy: the problem wasnt so much that they were shooty, it was that i couldnt get the boyz into close combat quickly enough. once they were in close combat they sh!t all over just about anything, but i couldnt do it fast enough. but now i gotta trukk
the first game against the BT i had a mob of 16 Slugga Boyz reduced to 7 after a direct hit from a Typoon missile. 9 dead in the first turn. that was the major problem right from the start, and the other boyz were picked off by shooting as they approached the BT lines.
the second game i only lost three boyz to a typhoon missile before my rokkit launcha boyz blew it sky high. the BT also had a bunker that they were hiding and shooting out of, so they were a danger, and i could only get in through the back (which i eventually did with my kommandoz and a nob that mobbed up with them).
my warboss and his mob of slugga boyz didnt get to assault, which wasnt a good thing, and they all died from a preliminary shooting then an assault by the BT command group. eventually, i had Cap'n Jakk and Lukky Pegz (the nob) left against the command group, but i failed my Leadership and Power of the Waaagh! tests for being reduced to below 25% of my army and they ran, and got shot down by the BTs.
but i did much better that game and im looking forward to the next battle :)
LizardmenRule! May 17, 2007, 07:16 AM A question about the trukk: i'm gonna give it a Red Paint Job (+1" to movement), and paint the three 'panel' things on the underside of the tray in black, white and yellow for the clan colours. see the first pic of the trukk for reference.
my question is what colour should i paint the armour plates?
a) paint them black, white and yellow as well to show more clan colours; or
b) make them just plain metal panels bolted straight on to the sides
i'm probably opting more for a) but i wanted to get a few opinins first. mind you its gonna be a while before i get around to painting it. i need to finish it first
Stormrage May 17, 2007, 08:49 AM I`d paint the yellow parts red, the white parts yellow, and da teef "white" - bone, teeth (ork teeth, so more yellow than white but you know) and the tires would be representing the black and maybe the cockpit.
LizardmenRule! May 18, 2007, 07:58 AM That sounds good. i might be putting a banner on it as well, somewhere near the back, with my logo on it. either that or painted on the floor of the tray. its a white hawk with two crossed yellow swords behind it on a black background...
straight from Halo :D
Stormrage May 18, 2007, 10:14 AM ITs a nice logo.. but not so orky? :hmm:
LizardmenRule! May 18, 2007, 08:04 PM These are cleverer dan da average Orks :mischief:
Alternatively, they could have stolen it from a Space Marine Chapter that they wiped out or something
Stormrage May 19, 2007, 02:40 AM Oh, OK then :)
LizardmenRule! May 28, 2007, 04:07 AM I've got the Black Orcs, and have converted most of them to 'Ard Boyz. The conversions are quite simple: i had plenty of Ork Boyz arms with sluggas left over, so i simply cut the slugga off the hand.
the Black Orc arms all have weapons, and i cut off the hand weapon, made a nice square groove, and shaved a little off the edge of the slugga so it would fit nicely into the space.
I also now have a brand new Warboss model. he has got Mega Armour, power claw, kombi shoota/rokkit and a new head. i have used one of the standard bearer options from the Black Orc sprue for its head, and i must say it looks pretty awesome, IMNSHO :D
I will post some pics soon (ish) ;)
Stormrage May 28, 2007, 04:15 AM Quite some time ago I ordered a Goblin Warboss on a Wolf, and it still hadn`t arrived. So I e-mailed them and some dude told me there was a problem with some credit card information I left them (you`d think they would contact you when something like that happens, the lazy SoB`s!) and he said I could call them. So I kinda told him to sod off in a nice way, no way I`m calling England from Croatia, and that he can just e-mail me the bloody problem in question. No reply so far. Altho it did take him a few days to reply to my first e-mail, and it was the weekend.. We`ll see. But I`m still torn between orc(k)s and the Empire/Imperium..
Deciding what to collect is really hard!
The Last Conformist May 28, 2007, 04:18 AM I've got a sizeable Orcs & Goblin warband, but I haven't fielded it in wrath in years.
I also make cardboard armies for DBA/HotT - am currently drawing a Seleucid army. See here (http://andjo.free.fr/dbp.html) for a couple of HotT armies I've finished.
Stormrage May 28, 2007, 04:24 AM Sound like I`ll end up with Elves then :crazyeye:, everyone has orcs!
The Last Conformist May 28, 2007, 04:28 AM Dat'z cuz green iz better! :smug:
LizardmenRule! May 28, 2007, 05:02 AM Bah, yoo izn't a puny elf, iz ya Stormy?
With all this talk about global warming, do your bit and go green ;)
Virote_Considon May 28, 2007, 05:11 AM I'll never turn green like some kind of Xenos (unless you count the Dark Angels as green ;)...)!
Besides, my Carbon Footprint is bigger than yours  :p
Stormrage May 28, 2007, 03:02 PM I might go with the Black Templars that specialise in Ork huntin` :mischief:
So I can have dead orks as trophies :D
LizardmenRule! May 28, 2007, 05:20 PM Just like my mate. He has a character called Hyde who has an Ork head in a puddle of blood on its base by his feet. I shall crush him eventually, tho...
"Hyde iz gonna get stomped by da Boyz!"
Stormrage May 29, 2007, 02:34 PM Beasts of Chaos and Hordes of Chaos are 2 separate army books, but they can still be 1 army? Did I get this right?
LizardmenRule! May 29, 2007, 05:41 PM I pretty sure. I think Beasties in a HoC army count as Special Units and vice-versa, but i'm not 100% on that...
The Beasts of Chaos Army Book is not just a stand-alone book – it is also fully compatible with Warhammer Armies: Hordes of Chaos and can use army list entries, special rules, and magic items from that volume. Details of how to do so can be found in the relevant sections of the Beasts of Chaos Army Book.
Stormrage May 29, 2007, 06:51 PM Cool.. Nurgle is "attractive", and I can throw all kinds of sick schtuff in there..
LizardmenRule! May 29, 2007, 09:29 PM Okay, now da NiteHorkz are lookin' more thumpy and less deady :)
Warboss Pee-Joo 'az 'ree-krooted' sum Big Boyz, callin' demselves da 'ard Nutz. Pee-Joo got 'iz 'ands on a big set of Mega Armour, so now 'e can shoot an' stomp an' slice 'iz way thru all da oomies, 'oo iz 'ard on da outside but soft an' squishy on da inside...
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/ArdBoyznWarboss.png
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/WarbossNob1.png
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/WarbossNob2.png
And once again i apologise for the quality of the pics :(
Stormrage May 30, 2007, 05:29 AM Woohoo! They are great! How bout adding some power cables to the armor or something, to make them look more futuristic?
LizardmenRule! May 30, 2007, 07:16 AM Good idea! I'm also gonna equip them with stikkbombs (frag and krak), so i'm gonna have to make some of them...
On another note, i found a leftover Boy head, torso, legs and i have an abundance of arms, so im trying something a little different: a Boy with a broken Rokkit Launcha so he is throwing the rokkit like a javelin. i have repositioned the legs, filled the holes with green stuff, and straightened the throwing arm and green stuffed the gaps there too.
now im waiting til the morning or afternoon to do anything else otherwise so the greenstuff has a chance to dry
For anyone who is interested, here is my current army list and point values (subject to change)
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/NiteHorkzList.png
Stormrage May 30, 2007, 07:21 AM How much points is most often involved in a battle? 1500?
LizardmenRule! May 30, 2007, 07:34 AM Im not sure about 'official' matches, but my mate has more points than me, so he usually chooses an army of the same points as mine. so back when i had an army of 700-and something, he chose an army of 700-and something too, give or take a few points.
but i might have more points than him now, though. i'll have to find out.
the other guys that i battle with usually just use everything they have anyway, so they are more for fun and practice than serious fights
im looking to get heavy support units next, probably a Big Gun battery, and a Dreadnaught
Stormrage May 30, 2007, 10:51 AM OK. I definately like "just" these armies:
Nurgle Chaos Space Marines, Undivided Chaos Space Marines, Space Marines, Daemon Hunters, Witchhunters, Imperial Guard and Orks. Empire, Orcs, Hordes of Chaos and Beasts of Chaos.
Orks and Orcs can share parts.
Chaos and Chaos Marines can share daemons.
The Imperial armies can ally themselves, so I can have everything in an army.
The Empire.. its cool. But that may be just the recent "propaganda".
Now the $$$ (for starters, till I start earning some serious money) factor comes in.
With Imperium and Empire, i can`t do alot of mixing so I have to pick either WH40k or WHFB.
With Orks I can switch and use cool body parts and whatnot, so I have lots of room for conversions.
But with Chaos Space Marines I get to have a Space Marine Army (I mean by their shape, basicly its the same armor), I get to make nasty conversions, I can use loads of daemonic units for WHFB, and I really like Chaos.
SO I decided. It will be WHFB Chaos (Nurgle) for start! And I`ll throw in all sorts of stuff.. Ogres, Trolls, Giants, Beastmen.. wicked!
LizardmenRule! May 30, 2007, 06:43 PM Plus, Chaos Warriors come with HUGE axes, dont they?
I sliced my finger open yesterday making Tankbusta bombs. Ouch! That'll teach me to cut towards my hand, won't it? Well, you would think so
And i have realised that the "spiky clubs" i cut off the hands of the Black Orcs to replace with guns are the right shape for Stikkbombz. Now, should i take off the spikes, or leave them on as "dangerous bitz"?
The one i'm talking about is on the middle sprue in the top left hand corner:

ps. you see the circular things in the centre of the sprues? i'm using them to make the tankbusta bombz :)
Stormrage May 30, 2007, 06:51 PM Hmmm.. It would look cool to leave them, but it would also look like a lazy conversion..
LizardmenRule! May 30, 2007, 07:27 PM I think a combination might be the best, have the ones with spikes be frag stikkbombs (the spikes being kind of shrapnel after the explosive detonates) and the smooth being krak stikkbombz to be used against armour.
Roman Legion Jun 02, 2007, 07:52 PM oh yeah, my friend told me of these, He has a fairly large army, dont remember what he has, but it was interesting.
LizardmenRule! Jun 03, 2007, 07:49 AM I've just had an idea. I think im going to use enslaved Imperial Guardsmen as a Gretchin Mob in my army. I have several thoughts on how this could work:
1) The NiteHorkz have an unusually low Gretchin population, so those few Grots are either helping Mekboyz, repairing vehicles or carrying ammo, and can't be wasted as cannon fodder.
2) The difference in stats (IG are WS:3, BS:3, S:3, T:3, W:1, I:3, A:1, Ld:7, Sv:5+, while the Grots are WS:2, BS:2, S:2, T:2, W:1, I:2, A:1, Ld:5, Sv:-) is due to malnourishment and the conditions in which the oomies are held, making them weaker, slower and (obviously) demoralised.
3) Cap'n Jakk and his Piratz are so hated by other Orks (even Blood Axes!) for their looting and pillaging that they captured the slaves and gave them, and their services, to Warboss Pee-Joo in exchange for protection.
If i go ahead with this plan (i want to find out if it would be legal in 'official' battles first), i'd probably use catachan jungle fighters, since they are wearing sorta raggardy clothes, and certainly wouldn't be using the IG armour, since that would've been looted for other uses.
On of the main reasons for this plan is that in Oz, four Grots cost $18, while 20 catachans cost $50. since i was going to have a mob of 20 anyway, $50 beats $90 every time. plus, the grots are metal, while the catachans are plastic, so conversions and differentiation would be soooo much easier.
Stormrage Jun 03, 2007, 12:26 PM Thassa great idea!
Quinzy Jun 03, 2007, 02:26 PM Just carve down their arms a bit- them boys are well built I tell ya @_@
Imma go get some pics of some bits of my armies up soonish too :)
A City of Death style Chaos army, A Nurgle death squad, some custom built plaguebearers, lava themed tyranids, a trator imperial force, and one dwarf.
Stormrage Jun 03, 2007, 03:33 PM "this, some that, lotsa those... and one dwarf"... :rotfl: How come you have only one? :)
I think that arm carving suggestion is pretty good. I mean, a catachan could take on an orc just with a good knife. Or so the novels claim.. Not to mention Sly Marbo. He could probably kill an ork with its own tusks or something!
Does anyone know if a man-at-arms as a WH pikeman unit, and the battle pilgrim as an "infantry" unit would make sense. I mean, do the tabletop rules and stats support this? Disregard the Grail Knight enlsavement for now. I`m trying to sort something out.
Quinzy Jun 03, 2007, 04:03 PM He's the Stuntie that came free with White Dwarf :D Pretty well painted if I do say so myself...
DragonBird Jun 03, 2007, 04:25 PM I got ze High Elves, but I also play with the Brets and some Emps and some Orcs. I love Pointy-Eared Guys because they are kick butt. They are mainly militia and they can school some of the warhammer world's best pro soldiers of other races.
They are my most rewarding race, you can't charge with everything you have(like orcs), and you can't stand back and only pummel enemies from afar(woodies). They look awesome on the Battlefield too.
The bad, bad, bad, thing about them is that they are freakin' expensive. A Brettonian Man-at-Arms costs around 5 points. A High Elf Spearman costs 11 points. Not to mention Orcs are like 2-3 points.
But anyway I have a Mounted Prince(My General:)(trying to find Dragon!!!) and 2 Foot Heros and 2 groups of 20 spears, 1 group of 16 Archers, 1 Bolt Thrower. My army is still growing.
I hope to get a 4,000 pt. army. With at least 1 group of everything(2 groups for core).
LizardmenRule! Jun 03, 2007, 07:33 PM Sounds good DragonBird. Any pics? :)
I ended up getting Cadians instead of Catachans for the very reason you stated: they are just too buff! Im gonna really beat up the IG armour, big bullet holes, scratches, maybe some branding scars and welts and stuff, as well as add chains to their ankles, maybe some ball and chain stuff, and i was also thinking wires and stuff going into their helmets, kinda of a crude Ork version of a electro-shock collar, to keep da oomies in line.
The Slaver would then have a "Big Red Button" hanging off his hip, to push when the oomies get roudy. i checked with the guys at my local Games Workshop and they said as long as a let an opponent know they are a Grot mob and i dont use them as anything else, it should be fine.
on another note, i was the 100,000 customer at the store, so i won a limited edition Warhammer 40,000K rulebook :D
Stormrage Jun 03, 2007, 08:20 PM ..no way! You lucky bastard! Congratulations! :D
Wires are good. Red button is very good. I like those ideas!
LizardmenRule! Jun 03, 2007, 09:12 PM Thanks! My mate was especially pissed off at me, since i've been gaming for only a couple of months and he has for several years!
What colours do you think the slaves should be wearing? they still have their armour, albiet pretty badly damaged, so should it just be caked with mud, grime, oil and blood?
Stormrage Jun 03, 2007, 09:18 PM Just like you said it, buddy :)
DragonBird Jun 05, 2007, 02:34 AM Slaves aren't treated very well, I'd imagine if their slavers were Orks that they'd have a few gashes, a lot of bruises, and yes, very dirty. So I'd suggest that you start with neutral colors than mix it up a little.
And about the pics, I'll see what I can do. (Maybe in a week(No Camera :())
I'll look through my pics already on the computer. I think I may have my fav. Model. (think)
LizardmenRule! Jun 05, 2007, 02:52 AM @ dragonbird: what is your favourite model? the Mounted Prince?
I reckon i'm going to paint the slaves uniforms a little lighter than those in the "how to paint" articles at various WH40K sites, so the blood and mud stands out more
and i think im gonna give the slaver a cattleprod :D
DragonBird Jun 05, 2007, 03:10 AM ZZAAP! (would the Orks have cattleprods. Give him a Squiggith prod)
May fav is this model type,
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HEArcher.jpg
painted very different thou, I got this off the warhammer website
I'm not the best painter by any means. But if you want to see horid painting you should battle one of my friends Orcs & Gobbo armies... I mean WAAGH!s. It looks like an Orc painted it!
LizardmenRule! Jun 05, 2007, 03:35 AM Is that an Archer or a Shadow Warrior?
A mate of mine says that for $50 he'll give me his Orcs and Goblins army, which has two mobs of boyz, arrer boyz, nightgoblins and some black orcs, i think. 1000+ points i've been told. he had two chariots, but apparently one got stepped on and he ruined the other one by trying to take it apart after sticking it together
Stormrage Jun 05, 2007, 08:06 AM Thats an archer AFAIK.
Will ya buy it, LMR!?
LizardmenRule! Jun 05, 2007, 08:22 AM Hell yeah! :)
I'm a little short on cash at the moment, but i should be able to squeeze it in, and i dont think he'll mind that much if i dont pay straight away
especially after he kicks me in the head for winning the rulebook :D
Stormrage Jun 05, 2007, 09:43 AM You gonna ripp them apart fer konvershuns, or start playing WHFB with it? :)
DragonBird Jun 05, 2007, 10:34 AM Its neither, Its technically a Hero. I use him as a commander.
High Elvish Chain-o-Command:
1. Prince
2. Commander
3. Archmage (#s 2&3 are switched sometimes)
4. Mage
LizardmenRule! Jun 05, 2007, 06:06 PM Well, with the Nemesis Crown world-wide campaign coming up, i'll keep it as a WHFB army. for the time being anyway ;)
Stormrage Jun 05, 2007, 11:13 PM Be sure to inform us with your progress :)
Oh, and photo-documented battle reports would be neat too ;)
I want to see how much the guys in GW use Photoshop in mini previews, cos I`ve been on some gaming forums, and saw some horrible, horrible painting. Like.. you broke an egg all over the mini or something.
My 2nd Space Marine even without touching up looks better than that. And those Golden Daemon people are ... they are not humans. I`m sure of it.
LizardmenRule! Jun 05, 2007, 11:49 PM To win a Golden Demon award you must be possessed by one ;) They are masters, but they must have had sooo much practice to get that good.
I shall keep you informed, and i was planning to photo-document my next attempt at the black templars. i'm starting to paint the second mob of boyz now. i've done their skin and metal parts, and some of them i have painted the clothes.
The armour that Lukky Pegz is wearing looks great. i gouged chunks out of the shoulder pads, chest plate and a shoulder pad i put over his spine, then lightly drybrushed boltgun metal over it, leaving black in the recesses. i'm gonna go over the boltgun metal with possibly tin bitz to add a little discolouration, then dab some red gore. i shall post a pic of the progress soon.
LizardmenRule! Jun 06, 2007, 12:13 AM Ok here he is:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/52574/Pegz.png
Lukky Pegz: he is lucky cos he has lost an ear, an arm, a leg, and got nasty scratches down his face. his armour is also hell beaten up, and (although you cant really see properly in the back shot) he has collected the heads of his enemies: a space marine head, a rival ork, and a lizardman head that is just a random xenos. he is also standing on a severed human head :D
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 01:03 AM Make sure not to leave the leg so shiny and new in particular for several reasons - its down there in the dirt, gun-barrels or exhaust pipes are ne`er so clean, especially if he helped himself with something of ork produkshn.
He lost an arm and a leg.. Sounds like he got divorced and his wife had a good attorney :D
LizardmenRule! Jun 06, 2007, 05:22 AM Yeah, the leg is gonna have blood and mud caked on it, as well as a bit of rust, so its not gonna be shiny
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 06:15 AM You know what I don`t get? How the hell do they paint SM eye lenses.. and then even highlight them! Then again, I only have the GW Starter Brush - "makes yer boyz look decent!". I suspect the detail brush could be usefull ;) But how do you get just the slightest bit of color on the brush? Drybrushing?
I`m eager to see your BT project :)
LizardmenRule! Jun 06, 2007, 07:00 AM a very fine, well-cared for brush, i would say. i've only got a start brush too, and its all haggard already :p
i dont really use drybrushing to highlight, i wet my brush and make it a fine point, get a little bit of paint on it, then carefully run it along any edges i want to highlight. it takes some time and patience, something i didnt have with some of my earlier models...
mrtn Jun 06, 2007, 07:02 AM You know what I don`t get? How the hell do they paint SM eye lenses.. and then even highlight them! Then again, I only have the GW Starter Brush - "makes yer boyz look decent!". I suspect the detail brush could be usefull ;) But how do you get just the slightest bit of color on the brush? Drybrushing?
I`m eager to see your BT project :)
I've never used a GW brush, but as far as i've gathered they're quite bad. There's other stuff available that's cheaper and/or better.
As for dry brushing I'd recommend using a square brush. Put a little bit of paint on it, and brush it off on a newspaper or similar. A square brush is much more sturdy, and thus you won't be ruining your ordinary brush.
BTW, I ordered Chaos Warriors, another Beast Herd, and a blister of Bestigors yesterday. :)
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 07:30 AM Chaos Warriors? I thought you were pure beastieboy player :) Undivided?
Mrtn - the thing is, there aren`t really any hobbycraft shops here, `cept the one that has little or no GW stuff. The thing that saved me (and doomed my wallet) is the fact that GW now accepts Maestro (tho I am having troubly with that, my first transaction has failed, and their customer support is not quite... supportive.). And since I`m a totally newb at all this, I suppose I should follow their advices and use what they offer. I can experiment later, when i`ve got the basics of it. Also, the Starter Brush really made my Ultramarine looks "decent". Maybe it just depends on the person?
Anyone uses those new paints, btw? They seem cool.
LizardmenRule! Jun 06, 2007, 08:29 AM One of the guys at my local demonstrated some for my mate and i and it seems that they are really good at basecoating; getting a solid, strong colour with only one coat. he didnt really go into detailing with them, but they look pretty good.
mrtn Jun 06, 2007, 08:32 AM I'm more of a painter than a player, actually. So I'm buying Chaos Warriors because they are some of the coolest models ever, not because how they handle themselves in a beast army.
As to paints and brushes, I use what is relatively cheap and good. Thus I use mostly Vallejo colours, and non-GW brushes. If you have a hobby store in town (selling Märklin model trains and stuff like that) then check them out. I imagine that it's much cheaper to buy a pot of Vallejo* colour than having to buy GW paints from abroad.
Use the starter brush until it's finished, and then, when you've learned a bit more too, you can buy another pencil from another company. BTW, all brush sizes are standardised.
*Vallejo has a paint series called Model Color, which has the same colours as the GW set (and similar names, like Bone White instead of Bleached Bone), which comes in better bottles, and (here at least) cost about 60% when comparing money per ml.
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 08:41 AM I`ll go snoopin around. I still haven`t visited the "gaming club" that is apparently located a few miles from my house. Maybe they could offer me some useful info, like you did, thank you, I want some ice-cream, there`s a giraffe, and a pony, can`t stop typing, help!
Ah there.. all good :crazyeye:
LMR! - basecoating is what they are there for. Oh, mrtn? Does the Vallejo range include such colors too? I presume you know what I am talking about.
mrtn Jun 06, 2007, 08:58 AM As far as I've heard Vallejo generally gives better coverage than GW paints, but of course there are differences from colour to colour. :) But no, I don't think they have any special base colours, apart from white and possibly black primer.
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 03:36 PM Found them! You`re a lifesaver mrtn! :)
A pot of GW color is 30,00 kn and a pot of Vallejo is 20,00 kn!! Its good if they are both 17ml like the Vallejo. Have to go snoop around GW site to see what they say. Not so lucky on the brushes tho. Oh well, I`ll look some more.
Thank you!
Congratulations LMR! for having the coolest thread on CFC! :D
LizardmenRule! Jun 06, 2007, 05:28 PM Why thankyou Stormy
I might go and have a look see at some of the cheaper paints too. although i usually go to my mate's place and use his paints, since he is paying me back 'cause he was lazy and didnt get his drivers license til late, which meant i had to drive him around everywhere.
now i drink and paint at his place for free! :D
DragonBird Jun 06, 2007, 07:54 PM Yea I have a prob too, the nearest hobby store that supplies GW stuff is 45 min away. With gas at the prices it is, its kind of hard for me to get there.
As far as primers in paint go... First I paint a very thin layer of white. Then use 3 dollar white spray paint and make it white (tip! Use the spray paint in several thin layers). The last thing just for overkill I paint another thin coat of skull white over the sprayed, just in case the spray isn't exactly white, and to help hold the spray on too.
Quinzy Jun 06, 2007, 08:27 PM Or if you play a less... happy race, and/or you're not too pro a painter, a black undercoat works best. Maybe that's just my tendancy for a darker, eviler army :D
DragonBird Jun 06, 2007, 10:45 PM Happy race, I never thought of it that way... Heres an excerpt from the High Elf army book. Even in times of relative peace, the High Elves are never at rest. They constantly patrol the barren shores and bleakest hills as they watch for the inevitable Dark Elf raiders; the evil Druchii who sank their homeland beneath the waves and who steal their children and slaughter their kin. Little wonder then that battles between them are bitterly fought with no quarter asked or given. Yes that sounds happy. yep;) . And yes, I know that I'm not a pro painter, mrtn's beasties are 5 times better than mine.
LizardmenRule! Jun 06, 2007, 11:02 PM I use a black primer, since my Orks are obviously evil :D
Perhaps replace 'happy' with 'honourable' or 'good'. On the light side of the force... ;)
Stormrage Jun 07, 2007, 04:17 AM Meh, them panzy elves are happy. They just look like they ate alot of lemons :p
And yeah, the black primer does thre trick for.. well.. everyone else, only Empire and Ulthuan use white colors. It takes care of the shading ;)
Virote_Considon Jun 07, 2007, 04:48 AM I use white if I want to pain a brighter-coloured unit, like a Blood Angel.
Stormrage Jun 07, 2007, 05:02 AM Well yeah, but now thats what the Foundation colors (I remembered their name :)) are here for!
DragonBird Jun 07, 2007, 12:50 PM I'd like to get my brush into some of those foundation paints. But my Hobb store doesn't supply everything. :(
Stormrage Jun 07, 2007, 01:14 PM Order online?
DragonBird Jun 07, 2007, 01:19 PM I've had very bad experiences in the past. It came... in lots of tiny pieces.
Stormrage Jun 07, 2007, 01:30 PM Right. Its called a sprue. Then you assemble it and paint it :p
Seriously, did you complain?
And besides, a pot of paint is of a sturdier design and of different shape, not so easy to be broken :)
DragonBird Jun 07, 2007, 01:41 PM No its not that, I ordered a glass vase off the internet.
Stormrage Jun 07, 2007, 02:06 PM Meh, I brought home broken vases that I`ve bought at the store in person, at it was whole at the time of transaction! :D
It happens :)
It seems those color a worth a try, I`ll be sure to use them together with Vallejos.
DragonBird Jun 07, 2007, 02:19 PM Ok, I'll try it. But I still don't trust the shipping and handling people.
The Last Conformist Jun 08, 2007, 11:47 AM I'm trying to convince myself I can afford a Warmaster (10mm) Orcs'n'Goblins army ...
... and a 15mm Carthaginian one. :run:
Stormrage Jun 08, 2007, 11:57 AM Warmaster minis are too tiny for my tastes. They kinda get stuck in your teeth ;)
The Last Conformist Jun 08, 2007, 12:40 PM You'd hate 2mm Napoleonics then ... makes one starta wonder why not just use bases with the troops drawn on them.
I'd be totally willing to try Epic (6mm), however. :)

Quinzy Jun 08, 2007, 01:50 PM :D
Do it!
The Last Conformist Jun 08, 2007, 03:28 PM I don't care to drag the entire warband out of storage - it's not like I'm going to get to play anytime soon - but here's a shot of the Red Eye Stabbas, led by their valiant (?) boss Skargit:

Quinzy Jun 08, 2007, 04:03 PM Cool! Those are great man :D
Stormrage Jun 09, 2007, 07:56 AM Woo! Awesomeness! Great pictures guys!
@LMR! - seriously, coolest thread evar. In teh univarse.
Quinzy Jun 09, 2007, 09:57 AM A few of the Tyranids now:
Carnifex:
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/3053/tyranidcarnifexjg6.jpg http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/674/tyranidcarnifexbaseax8.jpg
I quasi-remodeled him by moving the bottom back-carapace to the top, and the top one to the back, so he appears taller and generally, more like the original carnifex, which was what I was going for :D
Tyranid Warriors:

Tyranid Genestealers:

Tyranid Gaunts:

Just a few of the Termagaunts.
Stormrage Jun 09, 2007, 10:10 AM Wow! These are even better! I think the Carnifex is your best painted unit miniature :)
Quinzy Jun 09, 2007, 11:01 AM Thanks dude. I'm not really looking to paint anything in huge detail, just decent enough for TT. The Nurgle dudes may look quite horribly messy, but when looked at from about 3 foot away, in a group, like they would be in a game, they look relatively nice :)
I'll try to have my Traitor Guard army up soon. And then maybe make a LaTD list so I can turn the Traitor Guard into LaTD if I want to... :D
I'll also have some of my Chaos Marines and, of course, the Dwarf up too :)
Stormrage Jun 09, 2007, 11:14 AM Nurgle dudes are supposed to look messy ;) I think they look nice. Well, not nice, but you know :D
Great! I love closeup photos of miniatures!
mrtn Jun 10, 2007, 10:14 AM GW paint pots are 12 ml while Vallejo are 17.
Nice minis Quinzy.
Stormrage Jun 10, 2007, 11:29 AM Whoa, they are really cheap then! Thanks!
Quinzy Jun 10, 2007, 01:39 PM Thank you mrtn :)
LizardmenRule! Jun 11, 2007, 06:17 AM Wow! Go away for a couple of days and a whole lot of new pics are posted. They all look great, especially that Carnifex! Such a simple change makes a huge difference.
Stormrage Jun 11, 2007, 06:27 AM Ain`t it great? :D Care to post a few pics of that 50 $ army?
LizardmenRule! Jun 11, 2007, 06:41 AM I havent got it yet, i just got back. i dont know when im gonna see the guy next yet either, so it might be a while...
Stormrage Jun 11, 2007, 06:48 AM Where have you been? If you`ve been to Croatia and haven`t stopped by for a beer, I`ll be seriously disappointed...
LizardmenRule! Jun 11, 2007, 07:19 AM Nah, just went up north for a few days with some mates. A little getaway before knuckling down and revising for exams next week
Stormrage Jun 11, 2007, 07:40 AM Aww come on, don`t be sad. You get those exams behind you, you gonna feel alot better :)
LizardmenRule! Jun 11, 2007, 09:01 AM I'll will feel a lot better, but only if i pass! ;)
Quinzy Jun 11, 2007, 09:10 AM I like my wee Carnifex change. :) Makes it more like the older 'Fex.
Oh, and I am soon to be getting a small haul of free models and sprues off a dude I met yesterday. So, yay for that!
Stormrage Jun 11, 2007, 09:19 AM Yay indeed! But free? To a stranger? Whats wrong with him? :crazyeye:
Quinzy Jun 11, 2007, 09:32 AM He doesn't use them anymore :D
Stormrage Jun 11, 2007, 09:36 AM Yeah, I`ve gathered that much, but what about e-bay and stuff like that?
DragonBird Jun 11, 2007, 11:18 AM Maybe he's a nice person?
Quinzy Jun 11, 2007, 11:42 AM Yup, that's pretty much it.
DragonBird Jun 12, 2007, 12:35 PM 10 points for me...
DragonBird Jun 19, 2007, 09:36 AM First of all sorry for the double post... and bump.
And now to business, I'm making a conversion using Spearmen, Pheonix Guard, Archer, and Handmaidens(If I can get any) and their weapons will be swords (from Spearmen and Archers). Hopefully it will look awesome!
I'm using Pheonix Guard's Heads, Spearmen and Handmaiden's torsos, and either Spearmen or Archer(Standing) legs, I'm going to have the all the models have swords and the entire front rank pointing ahead fo them. These are all going to be made out of Leftovers from other sets, except the spears and maidens(need them for torsos and legs).
Heres a few pics so you know what I'm talking about.
Archers
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HE_Archers.gif
Spearmen
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HE_Spearmen.gif
Pheonix Guard
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HE_PheonixGuard.gif
Handmaidens
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HE_Handmaidens.gif
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you, These conversions are for my own personal units(they're fictional), I'm going to call them either Isha-Knights, or Asurian-Guard, And all of them can cast Asurian's Rage (fictional spell) That does 1 hit of 2D6 Strength (all of front rank can cast at the same time).
Stormrage Jun 19, 2007, 01:35 PM Never seen Handmaidens before.. are they from the Classics & Collector`s range?
If you combine the Phoenix guard heads with Handmaiden torsos.. won`t you end up with guys having boobs? :crazyeye:
DragonBird Jun 19, 2007, 05:28 PM Yea, I was thinking about the 'male" head. These troops are very elite. They don't deny anyone because of their gender. If the person(elf) has the skills they will accept them. Oh, I'm still tweaking with stats, but this is what I have so far. The head dresses of the archer and maidens look alike, but I'd like something from my fav. High Elves (maybe the legs, then that would change light armor into heavy).
They are equiped with a hand weapon and light armor
M_WS_BS_S_T_W_I_A_Ld (thier stats)
6 5 4 3 3 1 5 1 9
M_WS_BS_S_T_W_I_A_Ld (Warrior(spears,seaguard, and archer) Stats)
5 4 4 3 3 1 5 1 8
You may have noticed the up-ed stats. Its because of all the conditioning and training they have to go through. But to keep them elves, and not demi-gods, I gave them the High Elf 3-3-5. (S_3 T_3 I_5)
To answer Stormrage's Q's: I'm not sure but heres a link. Handy (http://uk.games-workshop.com/highelves/special-characters/5/)
DragonBird Jun 23, 2007, 06:57 PM double post... again.
I know this tread is getting old, but I'd rather stay of this and be safe than make 2 threads for the same topic.
but anyway... While i'm waiting for shipments of soldiers to arrive iv'e decided to build a fortress and other scenery. These are just rough drafts.
I designed the battlements to be just outside what humans would do, to give it that "elven feeling." And the best part is that it works perfectly, all elven infantry rest on 20mm by 20mm bases. I haven't designed towers yet but I will either use two small oatmeal cans/tubes/thingys on top of each other or pringles cans. One more thing to add more "elventicity," The battlements aren't directly connected to the wall, there is a different layer that pushes the battlements out, it basicly adds a tiny, but noticeable ledge.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/Wall.jpg
This the first part of a ship I'm designing (you might recognize aaglo's pheonix and eagle ships- handywork) It's going to race in the annual Skunk Run Boat Race (there's an open water drainage system running through the city), although I dought it will win the race (way to many narrow choke points), I'm positive it will win the design portion. I'm also going to build a another, except I will design it so that 2 bolters, 20 Seaguard, and 2 mages/commanders can be organized on the deck. It's lower half (below waterline) will have the choice of detaching for gameplay.

LizardmenRule! Jun 23, 2007, 07:40 PM Don't worry about posting anything to do with the hobby in this thread, i would've posted but i havent had time of late (exams) to do much stuff. and yesterday my dog accidentally bit through my fingernail, which equals extreme pain... wasnt her fault tho, i tried to take away a bone and she kept eating and ate my finger too...
i really like those battlements, and they really do look elven. looking forward to seeing the finished product. speaking of products, what are you planning to use for it?
and aaglo's units are great for inspiration. i gave one of my burna boyz a cigar like aaglo's unit has, just cos that animation was sooo cool! :D
Stormrage Jun 24, 2007, 05:41 AM The cigar..
Nice stuff there DB! Lookin` forward to the finished ..stuff! :goodjob:
@Dave - ouch! all the way trough? that.. female dog!, how could she do that to you!? :p
LizardmenRule! Jun 24, 2007, 06:19 AM all the way through the nail, into the nail bed, but not into the bone. didnt need stitches or anything. the front bit of the nail is going to drop off, but it is otherwise fine, unless i bump it on something.
hurt like an absolute female dog tho, until i got given some pills at the hospital. basically morphine in pill form... :yumyum:
Stormrage Jun 24, 2007, 06:29 AM You lucky bastard! :D
mrtn Jun 25, 2007, 01:30 PM I've recently received a pooload of models, so I can paint till next year or something without buying more. In two shipments I got: one box of chaos warriors, one box of beastmen, one blister of bestigors, one blister of OOP ungor skirmishers (with clubs, good for Mordheim :)), one blister of OOP beastmen command and one OOP beastman chariot (badly painted, gonna strip it). Paintwise I'm working on my bestigor regiment, just finished three, and will soon finish three more.
Stormrage Jun 25, 2007, 02:30 PM Thats great! Whats OOP? :)
DragonBird Jun 25, 2007, 11:39 PM Yes... now that i'm cutting everything out I realized that its really hard to cut curves in coragated cardboard .
The walls are for an on going campaign with 3 other friends. There are the High Elves(ME), Orcs & cannon fodder(Gobbos), Woodies, and Emps. We also have random events with Dwarfs and Brettonians (trade, fighting, alliances).
I've also had some good luck, I found a new Hobby Store! Its only 30 minutes away, and they have a savings card for $15, and with it all purchases get 10% off! plus they have way more High Elf stuff! They even have regimental sets(1 spears, 1 archers, 1 silvers, 1 bolty for $90) Woot!
This is spoiled because of the tons of words that have no meaning to some people(Forrest!)
The entire campaign map is 4 territories by 4 territories(each territory is 6ft by 6ft). Each army has a headquarters/home square where you can build "Stronghold" fortifications, and where you build Lords and Heros. In each territory you can improve land with farms, mines, fortifications(small like a few scout towers or sod walls(acts as soft cover and high ground) or booby traps!), dock(if on river) etc.
Each territory produces x amount of points depending on value and improvements and trade. You use to points to repair, upgrade, and build units. Say, the High Elves territory produces 250 points, now they can either build, upgrade, or reinforce how they see fit with up to 250 points(my base produces 525 points :D).
When it comes to battle we don't count points, so there can be a dozen emps VS an Orc Horde. Its really simple. Fun things too: pillaging, looting(after battle only), and retreating.
There are certain ups and downs upon capturing a territory. If you pillage you get half of all the points invested in that territory (e.g. farms cost 100 pts+pillage=50 imediate points), but the improvement no longer exists.
Looting after battles is practically the same as pillaging, If you win the battle you get 50% of the points of all killed units, including your own. Also if you win you can search for wounded soldiers (orcs and beasties can't do this... they eat their wounded!) this will also hold your army in place for one game turn, line up all your killed soldiers and go down the line rolling a die for each. If the die lands with a 1 or 2 the unit was wounded, not killed and go back to their unit.
If you get to a lord or hero if you roll a 1, 2, or 3 they were only wounded. If you come by your General you need to roll a 4 or lower for it to be wounded.
You can retreat of the battlefield too (favorite of the woodies), when things start to go south you can save most of your army by simply marching them off the side of the board (they end up in their adjacent territories). They do not count as fled, or kills. This can be used for wimpy tactics. Fire everything we have at everything they have! and when they are almost within charging range turn tail and run. Then after a few battles(if you can call them battles) of that face all 2 and a half regiments with your 10 or group of glade guards(THAT MEANS YOU FORREST!). Flying units ussually deal with that though.
(room for more stuff)
LizardmenRule! Jun 26, 2007, 03:30 AM Thats a good idea for a campaign. i had an idea of using Risk for the same sort of thing (do you guys know Risk? the game of world domination?)
basically, play risk, but when a battle occurs, instead of rolling dice to see who wins, fight it out on the tabletop! like dragonbird's campaign, the points wouldnt be even
that's great about the hobby store :D
Stormrage Jun 26, 2007, 03:33 AM Great ideas, guys :goodjob:
DragonBird Jun 26, 2007, 01:05 PM Which risk? Star Wars, LOTR, or Reg. Editions?
Stormrage Jun 26, 2007, 01:14 PM The WH edition :p I`m guessing regular (didn`t even know about the others)
DragonBird Jun 26, 2007, 01:17 PM Yep, theres alot of different editions. My fav. The Boy Scouts Monopoly Edition
mrtn Jun 26, 2007, 02:12 PM Thats great! Whats OOP? :)Out Of Production. For instance the beastman command is stamped GW (c) 1993.
DragonBird Jun 27, 2007, 09:04 AM basically, play risk, but when a battle occurs, instead of rolling dice to see who wins, fight it out on the tabletop! like dragonbird's campaign, the points wouldnt be even
How would you calculate reanforcements? There are a Ton of Unit types in WH, but only one type in Risk(different models = different amount of troops e.g- block = 1 regiment, pyramidy thingy = 10 regi's)
LizardmenRule! Jun 27, 2007, 05:49 PM make infantry, cavalry and artillery be worth a certain number of points (100,500,1000 or something like that). so if you control australia and have 21 territories under your control, you would be able to reinforce any territory/s with 21/3=7 + 2 for Australia= 9 infantry, which could equal 900 points
DragonBird Jun 27, 2007, 10:33 PM Ok... got it. Wow, It woundn't be that hard to make a Warhammer Edition RISK! But ouch, what who that do to an Elder race... One fully upgrade Spearmen unit w/ 20 elves = 250pts... ouch
This has nothing to do with civ, or WH. But I'm going to be seperated from technology of anykind for the next 10 days. I'm going camping... at Bartle. Maybe I'll find other WH players out at "THE LODGE (of handycrafts)". (Its always crowded during summer) So... you don't have to put up with me and my annoying ideas for the next 10 days. Enjoy!
BTW: LMR do you have any lizardmen? You only talk about your WAAAGH! or was it a WAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa... (inhale deeply) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaggghhh! (coughing violently)
LizardmenRule! Jun 28, 2007, 12:18 AM No, i only have Orks. My name relates to Kinboats fantastic units, which is why i became a member in the first place. i have been contemplating changing my name to just LMR...
LizardmenRule! Jul 01, 2007, 07:26 AM Played a major battle yesterday. we stopped and called it a draw after jus two turns, which took nearly 4 and a half hours :wow:
I was controlling my Orks, my mate's Necrons, and another mate's Tau and Tyranids against Eldar, Imperial Guard and Witch Hunters
Everything was very cramped; the table was approx. 3x6 feet.
My wartrukk (the one i previewed, but havent worked anymore on) helped destroy a wraithlord. the tau hammerhead tank hit the wraithlord with its railgun, then the wartrukk hit with its rokkit, and my warlord (which was in the trukk and armed with a kombi shoota/rokkit) hit it as well, after missing the first time and using up his ammo runt (a very, very old grot that one of my mates gave me :D)
unfortunately, my 'ard boyz didnt make it into the fray. they got stuck behind two squads of fire warriors that carved up a squad of dire avengers, then got pinned by a vindicare assassin (i think :hmm:)
my habit of destroying imperial armour happened again, with my destroying the demolisher cannon on a tank, then one of the plasma guns, leaving it useless (the other weapons could only attack things along the edge of the table) and destroyed another with railgun shots from the broadside battlesuit. a whole bunch of orks got mowed down by a heavy bolter squad, but they returned fire against the unit, hitting with all their rokkits and killing with three
all in all, i think i did pretty well, but i'm also pretty sure i would've been overrun in the end, but i would've taken a hell of a lot of them down with me! my next purchase will be without a doubt a zzap gun. automatic hit against anything it can see, 24" range, 2D6 strength (+2D6 for armour penetration roles against vehicles). only downside is the possiblity of it over heating on an 11 or 12. but for tankhunting, this baby will do the job :D
Stormrage Jul 07, 2007, 06:31 AM Ran into something, thought you guys might like it :)

Stormrage Jul 07, 2007, 07:18 AM Woo! Cool Orky smilies!
DragonBird Jul 07, 2007, 02:00 PM Wow... WH40k sounds even more complicated...
Cool Battle thou!
DragonBird Jul 10, 2007, 12:44 PM yes... I will not make the battlements out of coragated cardboard, Its to sloppy:run: , so I'm going to use several layers of cardboard paper (cereal boxes) glued together. And if that doesnt work I'll use just one layer of the stuff.
I'm also revising my entire wall design. Since I have pringles cans as towers, i'll have to make the walls a little shorter and I'll have to cut a semi-circle out of the sides so that the towers fit snuggly. I'm working on bryce5 to come out with a decent design before I cut everything out so I wont waste any materials.
I'm also redoing old paint jobs with a more detailed and unique sheild design for my units(excluding heros and lords). Its three diagonal stripes, going from left up to right. The top stripe is Dark Angels Green, the middle is Snot Green, and the bottom is Skull White
Stormrage Jul 10, 2007, 01:52 PM Whats the base color of the shield? :)
LizardmenRule! Jul 10, 2007, 07:20 PM Sounds good Dragon; could we see a pic of one of the finished shields?
On the construction front, i've been gathering ideas and materials for a BATTLEWAGON. my plan at the moment (which i tentitively built a mock model of using wooden blocks) can fit 30 boyz easily as well as decorative equipment like oil drums and weapons and stuff. without that, i reckon i could get in forty. unfortunately, the limit is twenty for battlewagons, but since i plan of using it as a transport for my 'Ard Boyz, and they take up more space, then it'll be fine.
I'll post my plans sometime in the future.
Got my fantasy Orcs yesterday: Borgut Facebeater and Gorbad(?) Ironhide, a Black Orc Warboss on a Boar, two other Hero-type things on Boars, a Savage Orc Shaman on a Boar, a Boar Chariot (badly damaged ), a nightgoblin and a regular goblin shaman, a bolt throwa, a rock lobba, with crew and a Slaver-type of Orc, 10 wolf riders with bows, about 24 arrer boyz and 24 orc boyz
also played my first game of WHFB, for the nemesis crown campaign thingy. went up against bretonnians and wood elves (tree climbing pixies). We had to call it a draw cos my friend had to leave for work at the end of about the fourth turn.
orc shooting wasnt too bad; i killed several of the bretonnian peasant archers with my arrer boyz, and i killed two knights with the rock lobba and bolt thrower. the scatter dice were against me, tho, with two of the rock lobba shots scattering the full 6" away from the enemy into a empty space...
my magic phases werent good either. two of my mages (savage orc shaman and the regular goblin shaman) both rolled snake-eyes at some stage, costing them one of their spells.
and the assult phase wasnt the greatest either. the table was too long which meant it took ages for my boyz to cross into close combat. when we declared a draw, the boyz had just been charged into by Grail Knights
Wow... WH40k sounds even more complicated...
Cool Battle thou!
Funny you should say that, because i found WHFB much more complicated
The fact that each unit has a different movement value, that the animals themselves can attack, flank attacks, having proper ranks, not being able to measure a charge before declaring it... it all threw me off my game.
well, that's my excuse :D
DragonBird Jul 11, 2007, 09:17 AM Yes, peasent bowmen are crappy... Elves isn't, my orc and gobbo weilding friend found that out yesterday too. It was a slaughter. There was a choke point (a bridge) and he rolled animosity for his unit in front (nighty gobs). My bolters had 15 or so kills... each. Then White shafted arrows fell in clouds from my straping young lads of the arrow corps. My mage sucsessfully cast "wall of fire" in front of the bridge. That effectivly took out those fanatics.
There was a part when the battle went against me thou. His Boar Boyz (40 of em') crossed the river to the east of the bridge and charged into my spearmen who were easily holding off the gobbo spears. But a quick charge from my ellyrion reavers into they're rear routed the poor bugggers. I let them flee and wiped out the swarm of goblins. My mage tried cast fury of Khaine into the Boar Boyz. But he lost a level in the miscast. My fav spell was "curse of arrow atraction" (re-roll failed missile hits of targeted unit) I had to have cast it at least 9 times.
Eventually it all boiled down into a fight of the generals. My Prince on a Dragon, and his Warboss on a Wyvern... for the longest time none of us broke through each others defenses. Then my dragon realizing that it can use it's breathe instead of its claws turned the wyvern and its rider into crispy critters.
And with the death of their general, the remaining orcs and gobbs fled the bloody field of battle.
I think my battle-hardend Elves were outstanding, taking on an army twice they're size... points wise. Truth be told, I almost lost the battle. My spearmen corps were all but decimated. I lost about half of the brave souls even with the "search for wounded" rule. My Reavers were struck down, buying the fleeing spearmen (3 units)enough time to regroup. My Swordmasters with all their martial prowess could not stand up to the Wyvern and orc big-uns.
LizardmenRule! Jul 12, 2007, 05:43 AM Those victories are great; when you come back from the brink to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat :D
I almost did that today: huge battle; witch hunters, imperial guard and eldar vs necrons, tyranids, tau and DA ORKS!!
I made a Zzap Gun and put it to good use, immobilising a Hellhound that was rampaging through Nids and flaming Tau. My Trukk, after its success last time, was targetted in the first turn, and lucky the crew had already disembarked.
The 'Ard Boyz got into combat for the first time, smashing into Swooping Hawks and Harlequins. The Shoota Boyz did quite well, wiping out a squad and a half of Guardsmen. The Lobba scattered badly twice, before it finally hit the edges of three units.
All in all, the Orks did better than before, but i was still losing when we stopped play.
Stormrage Jul 13, 2007, 03:33 AM Does anyone know anything about Forgeworld stuff? I read somewhere that they can mess up sometimes.. make parts like SM shoulder pads for instance, smaller than original GW stuff.. I was thinking of adding some Deathkorps of Krieg renagades to my Nurgle Army, and I like those Forgeworld models..
LizardmenRule! Jul 13, 2007, 04:11 AM Havent heard anything like that. i've heard that lots of the Forge World stuff is resin based, and resin stuff can be harder to paint and have more of those mould marks and stuff
EDIT: what do you think of making a cybork retinue using mainly necron warrior parts. kind of arnie-terminator like. have ork heads with wires and stuff coming out of them, have some with ork bodies with robotic arms and legs, some with ork arms or hands but necron everything else (excluding head), some with ork legs but robotic torso and arms... maybe even have a half ork, half robot head!
Stormrage Jul 13, 2007, 04:36 AM BTW- I can mix the Chaos "Imperial Guard" and Chaos Space Marines in an army, right? The Lost and the Damned list offers this, no?
I like your ideas :)
Quinzy Jul 13, 2007, 11:22 AM Yup, you can have a certain number of CSM stuff in a LaTD army.
DragonBird Jul 14, 2007, 12:35 PM Oh, I have a cool Idea for the Dragon Princes. For the smooth part of the sheild i could have 2 diagonal stripes of green. top is Dark Angels Green, and the bottom one is Snot Green. Then I could paint a white elvish rune in the middle of it.
Stormrage Jul 14, 2007, 03:51 PM Like I asked before, what is the base color of the shield? Or do the stripes cover all of the shield?
DragonBird Jul 14, 2007, 08:41 PM What do you mean? I use a white primer? But in the finished product stripes cover the entire shield.
Stormrage Jul 15, 2007, 03:11 AM Yeah, I thought maybe the shields were blue or something, and you had stripes going over that. But covering the whole shield sounds good :)
DragonBird Jul 15, 2007, 09:50 AM I had a cool Idea for an Orc fort. I don't have the dimensions worked out, but I know how i'm going to do it. I'll get a 1/4 inch piece of balsa wood, cut it right down the middle(don't make it straight, for added orcy-ness). And at the top carve out a point. Like Palisades... except they're made by orcs.
Yes, I'm the scenery, and fortress builder/designer of my group. I'm the only one who measures twice and cuts once. Everyone else just cuts stuff... into vague forms... *Cool damaged house! looks like a siege scenario...* *It's not a damaged house...* *Um...*
LizardmenRule! Jul 20, 2007, 04:20 AM Good idea. I made some Orc/Ork huts a while ago. I cut packaging cardboard tubing (the stuff that posters are sent through the mail in) into pieces about 2.5"-3" long by memory, then ripped old cricket balls in half, and used each half as a roof. I haven't painted them or anything yet, they havent even got doors!
In other news, i have finally finished assembling Da 'Oomie Slavez. Now i'm waiting on some jewellery chain to make the manacles for the Guard then i'll stick'm on the bases.
I did some converting; one guy has lost both his hands - one stump was bandaged and the other happened very recently. his gun in on the ground with the hand still attached. Another guy i plan to have waving a white flag. there's a guy with one hand, and another that looks as if he has been shot in the chest, or (as i originally intended) been shocked in the back with a cattleprod :D
mrtn Jul 20, 2007, 04:30 AM I spent all day yesterday painting and made these Chaos Warriors Of Ultra Doom And Deadly Sexyness:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a4/mrtnw/Miniatures/Beastmen/chaoswarriors1.jpg
LizardmenRule! Jul 20, 2007, 04:52 AM :wow:
They look great! Love the colour scheme too. How many of them do you have?
EDIT: To add to my previous post, i'm planning to have four Grots in with the 'Oomie Slavez. two reasons for it; One: to aid the Slaver in maintaining control over the captured Guardsmen, and Two: so i can have some Guards left over for... special purposes  (such as basing my Warboss)
Stormrage Jul 20, 2007, 05:48 AM Heh.. special purposes.. impaled on something on a war trukk?
Nice warriorz mrtn :)
LizardmenRule! Jul 20, 2007, 06:07 AM Exactly what i was thinking :D
Probably the Battlewagon, once i get around to starting that project. And i've been wanting to do a "duel" display piece; Ork vs Imperial Guard, with an Ork gutting a Guardsman. Lotsa blood and guts and stuff
Stormrage Jul 20, 2007, 06:11 AM I hope the Guardsman had dry rations for lunch :cringe:
I just found out that the OZ Medusa V website is the best of all.. cos it has that AWESOME Death Guard army display.
 McRotten... I`m lovin` it!
Oh and.. ForgeWorld is flippin` expensive!!!
mrtn Jul 20, 2007, 04:43 PM :wow:
They look great! Love the colour scheme too. How many of them do you have?
...
I have a box (12), but only painted these three.
I recently played a couple of games of Mordheim with my beastmen, and my henchmen are now really good. My Gors have S 4 and WS 5, and my Ungors have S 4 and 2 attacks! That's right, a couple of guys that look tiny are way better than ordinary humans. :smug:
Stormrage, if you're checking out FW, check their Mammoth. It's love at first sight (just before you're trampled to death!).
Quinzy Jul 20, 2007, 06:32 PM I should upload pics of my Hardened Veterans. They use Chaos Warrior bodies with guard heads and rifles  Carapace Armour upgrade of course :D
Stormrage Jul 21, 2007, 07:12 AM Of course you should :D
mrtn - i checked FW upside down, but I never used to look at the prices..
Teh mammoth rocks, thats for sure :)
Quinzy Jul 21, 2007, 05:13 PM I bought some FW bitz off E-bay to help with my Traitor Gurad. Twas a nice discount if I do say so meself. :)
DragonBird Jul 27, 2007, 04:19 AM my Ungors have S 4 and 2 attacks!
Are the 2 attacks with 2 hand weapons?
odintheking Jul 27, 2007, 08:20 AM Nice avvie, Quinzy, ;).
Stormrage Jul 27, 2007, 10:24 AM Dang it Quinn, now I have to get adjusted all over again.. (been playing civ2 eh? ;))
EDITED edition:
I`m making up a SM chapter! Yay! I present the Tempest Knights, hailing from a world constantly ravaged by storms.
What do you guys think of this color scheme
http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/7034/smca48j8xcag7.png
(white is silver ; gray is gray, not steel ; head, abdomen and shoulders are darker)
I`m thinking of having the shoulder trim darkblue like knee and elbow pads, and use the silver version for veterans. Weapons (powerswords and bolters) will be tin colored.
This chapter has these "traits" noted in other chapters:
Blood Angels - their Black Rage is similar to this chapter`s Storm Rage (:mischief:)
Dark Angels - I`m ripping off the Deathwing and Ravenwing idea for the Thunder and Lightning companies. (the color scheme won`t be so different from other companies like with Dark Angels, tho).
Deathwing (Thunder) - Terminators and Tanks
Ravenwing (Ligthning) - Bikes and Speeders
I`ll have a dreadnought or 2, Zeus and Thor, Those will be their "earned" nicknames, it would be to cheesy if they were really named like that :D
I may throw in a few robed dudes (the command squad maybe), the robes will be black
PS - I know he looks kinda boring, but I wanted a dull, grim look.. not flashy like the Blood Angels or Ultras
LizardmenRule! Jul 27, 2007, 10:47 AM I reckon they'd look great; very menacing, cold and unforgiving :D
Stormrage Jul 27, 2007, 11:16 AM Tempest means Storm, right?
Dark Crusader Jul 27, 2007, 11:32 AM Storm, yep it's a violent storm.
Stormrage Jul 27, 2007, 11:41 AM Tempest Warriors? Tempest Knights? Tempest Badass Bastards?
Dark Crusader Jul 27, 2007, 11:53 AM Tempest Knights sounds cool, better than just Storm Knights. But then again Badass Bastards kind of grows on ya. I have always been partial to the GK so... IMO
Stormrage Jul 27, 2007, 12:10 PM So what color should the capes, hoods, robes and tabards be?
In the GW color range there is a metalic color called Tin, I`m thinking of using that for weapons instead of Boltgun Metal. Or maybe for the Chapter Master if/when I go over 1,500 points.. Somefink like diz:
http://www.paintingclinic.com/ward/Warhammer%2040k/Space%20Marines/images/tyco.JPG
Dark Crusader Jul 27, 2007, 12:25 PM Maybe Bleached Bone so you can still use ur blue accesnt color, or is it gore red thats in between blood and scarab. Or u could try that accent blue as a robe but I think the bone or a deep red would be best for warriors. otherwise u start looking like a rainbow, doesn't instill dread or fear. U just end up making Orkz giggle as they eat u!
Stormrage Jul 27, 2007, 01:49 PM I`ve decided - the cloth parts will be black. The captain will have a cape and the librarian might be in a hooded robe. The chaplain (they wear black armor) will have a gray tabard.
Chapter insignia.. hmm.. a lightning bolt crossed with a sword in an X shape?
One thing I noticed about Space Wolfs - you can˙t possibly tuck all that hair and beard in an Astartes helmet! What if a mission requires one (i.e. gas)?
QUESTION - can you attach a Chaplain or a Librarian in Terminator Armor to a squad in normal armor?
Stormrage Jul 27, 2007, 06:38 PM Due to copyright issues, I chose to delete this post, so just ignore it, K?
mrtn Aug 01, 2007, 10:24 AM Are the 2 attacks with 2 hand weapons?
No, they've got another attack for the off hand weapon (a knife), so the total sum is 3 attacks.
As to metal colours, the weapons of my minis are painted in Tinny Tin (Vallejo's version of Tin Bitz) and then dry brushed with Boltgun Metal. A very easy way to get a "warmer" and dirtier metal colour.
Some of my latest stuff:

Stormrage Aug 01, 2007, 12:04 PM Wow.. the Chaos Warrior is really cool... Nice paint job all over!
Is that a centigor in the background? :)
PS - I edited my Space Marine Army, so you can just forget about what I wrotte a few posts back :mischief:
Tomorrow, I goez and I buyz me sum Smurfs! A Taktikal Skwad and a Chaplin! I show pikchaz
in a week or so.
Stormrage Aug 01, 2007, 04:04 PM So here are the re-worked Tempest Raiders. I looked up some tips online, and made a "suposedly" kick ass list. Then I learned that guys with armylists like that are considered a$$holes, and what terms like "cheesy" and "beardy" mean in gaming, so I edited it, and hopefully its a well balanced codex army, with a fluffy feel to it :)
EDIT: sorry, my link was very copy-righty-issuey so I removed it.
mrtn Aug 01, 2007, 06:30 PM Wow.. the Chaos Warrior is really cool... Nice paint job all over!
Is that a centigor in the background? :)
...Thanks, the head is a converted beastman head, I didn't want to use the "standard" musician head.
Yes, it's a centigor, he's half painted ATM.
You can find more pictures of centigors and chaos warriors and pig men in my painting log over at the herdstone, just use the link I posted at the start of this thread.
Stormrage Aug 01, 2007, 08:43 PM Been playing with the painter some more :)

Stormrage Aug 05, 2007, 09:40 AM Some news from ye olde Stormie. I`ve been snooping around the Bolter and Chainsword site, its really cool, you should visit it too if you like 40k (tho its mostly SM oriented), the link is in my sig (Photoshop thingy, btw, anyone, please help!). Anywho, I found that my lovely original idea is.. well.. not so original.. I could`ve lived with the almost the same chapter name.. but we had exactly the same color schemes! So after going trough some searches (Index Astartes included), I came up with this:
http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/9706/2nd4thjd7.png
When I figure out how to get Transfer paper in Croatia, the left pauldron is going blue also, a moon sign is going in there, the squad marking is moving to the knee. Or not, if you guys think it looks better now. I figure vehicles and banners can have moons.
PS - foundation paints are great, you should really give them a try :)
DragonBird Aug 06, 2007, 08:20 AM No, they've got another attack for the off hand weapon (a knife), so the total sum is 3 attacks.
Damn! ...But I guess it levels out. Its as many attacks as High Elf Spearmen (fights in 3 ranks with spears).
How much do they cost thou? With S4 and 3 attacks they should be somewhat pricy.

I've been browsing through some Eldar minis. I've fallen in love. I'll finish my 4,000 pt High Elf Army and then start on them Eldars.
Virote_Considon Aug 07, 2007, 03:11 AM I should really get round to spraying some of my models whilst it's still not raining...
Stormrage Aug 07, 2007, 04:27 AM You really should get around to posting some pics ;)
DragonBird Aug 10, 2007, 08:14 PM I've changed my prime-ing. (A NOOB PAINTER NO MORE!) I do everything the same except I paint chaos black on all armor and weapon areas. I'll try to get some pictures of this. I'm also putting "hobby" grass on all my bases.
LizardmenRule! Aug 10, 2007, 08:25 PM Yeah, i need to get around to basing some of mine. I havent done any work on them for ages now that im back at uni :( Hopefully i'll be able to squeeze in an hour or so here and there soon
DragonBird Aug 11, 2007, 11:06 AM Yea after seeing your guy's stuff over and over again, I realize I'm no where near as good as you people.
mrtn Aug 12, 2007, 07:02 AM Damn! ...But I guess it levels out. Its as many attacks as High Elf Spearmen (fights in 3 ranks with spears).
How much do they cost thou? With S4 and 3 attacks they should be somewhat pricy....Remember, this is Mordheim, not WFB. They've got experience, but I only pay a little more than I do for ordinary ungors, 35 gold instead of 25. Plus 3 for a club.
As to priming I prime all my models with black Gesso, a brush on primer paint.
DragonBird Aug 14, 2007, 09:24 PM My general has been cleaved AGAIN! I bumped my Hobby desk (mostly for painting and stuff. Homework when school roles around) and he fell off. Split him in 2 at the waist... But the horse is fine. I've done him in so many times that I had to sand all the old glue off to get him to sit correctly. I'm getting a dragon and 3 more sets of the same model. I'll make some conversions to make it work. It will be the same guy just on different steeds.
One on a Dragon
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HE_General1.gif
One on Horsey (the one on the right)
http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/90276/HE_General2.gif
One on foot
I will take the General #2 model and get 3 of them. Then fit one on the dragon. Leave one on the horse. And find a sutible conversion for the last, so he can be on foot.
Stormrage Aug 15, 2007, 06:42 AM Dang.. them pansy elves are starting to look good to me
Members of my Trial Space Marine Squad (the one I am butchering and re-painting ATM) have fallen from my clumsy hands like 10 times each now, no harm done. You sure you are using the right glue? :hmm:
LizardmenRule! Aug 15, 2007, 07:20 AM the general, i'm presuming, would be made of metal, and in my experience metal seems to come apart more easily when dropped than plastic, which i presume your SMs are made of :)
Stormrage Aug 15, 2007, 10:51 AM :hammer2:
Righto, forgot about that. Havent dropped my Chaplain so far ;)
DragonBird Aug 15, 2007, 09:03 PM Stormy its Krazy Glue. It works... untill he tries to fly. What! should I try Gorilla Glue?
And Yes everything but the horse is metal. the horse is plastic
BTW them pansy elves... Wait! Are you calling them pansies because they use all warfare has to offer? Not just clubby, smashy, whacky things. Them Pansies use pointy Arrows, pointy Swords, pointy Axes, pointy Halberds, pointy Lances, pointy Spears, pointy Spells, and pointy Nature Buddies. Come my 75ft birdies! Let us decimate our evil brethern! DEATH TO THE DARK ELVES! (make sure to save their heads... so we can trade with the pygmies in Lustria...(How else do they get all those heads? HMMM?)) ;) Really thou... whats with all the heads?
Stormrage Aug 16, 2007, 04:40 AM Them be pansy, cos they are skinny and fragile, and squishy like `oomies.
And we`z got Arrer boyz, we also use all that warfare has to offer. Cod-pieces included.
Virote_Considon Aug 16, 2007, 12:24 PM I know how you feel with the dropping of metal figures. I have a little brother who likes to pick things up ...
Stormrage Aug 16, 2007, 01:18 PM Hey DragonBird, did you see the new Sneek Peeks over at GW? Something nice for ya there ;)
mrtn Aug 17, 2007, 04:14 PM As to breaking minis, check out the concept called pinning. :)
DragonBird Aug 17, 2007, 10:29 PM Arrer Boyz are comical... so are their goblin counterparts. ;)
But anyway the High Elves have all but left the "Old World" Orcs don't often fight High Elves. Although there are those ever pestering Night Gobs...
I haven't been to GW in awhile I'll take a look.
I might try a sodering iron on the metal models.
mrtn Aug 20, 2007, 12:23 PM ...I might try a sodering iron on the metal models.
For the love of the Chaos Gods don't! Unless you want melted mutilated models, of course...
LizardmenRule! Aug 20, 2007, 05:45 PM Might be handy if you played Nurgle then ;)
jlvfr Aug 21, 2007, 10:57 AM Hello folks, I'm a relativelly new member of the forum (but an old civ fanatic)
Looking for new mods, I found this section dedicated to GW's games! Great stuff here!
So I'll present my own poor armies, as well as some models I saw over the years:
http://www.pbase.com/hammerbolt/jogos
I'm hopping to take my marines to the UK GT this year :goodjob:
Stormrage Aug 21, 2007, 02:07 PM Nice stuf there, Joao :) Welcome to CFC!
Good luck at the Tournament, kick some xeno scum :D
Storm Grunt Aug 21, 2007, 08:37 PM :borg: You must fear this Army! It is the Emperor's will!
Hi guy's hows this mod comming. Do you have a working model yet?

Lord_Iggy Aug 22, 2007, 01:08 AM I've been considering collecting for a while, and I'm torn between 'nids, Tau, and Da Boyz. Leaning towards the Tyranids, but seeing this thread throws Orks back into strong consideration.
