View Full Version : New HOF mod and higher crash frequency ???

A visit from the GOTM forums.

GOTM 17, using the new vanilla mod 11, has been a nightmare of crashes for me in excess of any previous problems with GOTM.

My video card is rather low end, so some degree of video crashes ("thread stuck in device driver" for the video system) have occurred in the past, but have been manageable.

Is there anything about the new HOF mod that would tax the video system more? Or might the new HOF mod expect the latest version of DirectX (just thought of that yesterday and updated my box).

Just posted in GOTM forum to ask if others are having the same problem. If the mod is the issue, maybe there is a solution (like the DirectX update) that we can publicize.

Other than the Field of View option, I can't think of anything in the HOF mod that could have any effect. That shouldn't cause problems if you aren't using it.

All the videoo stuff is in the Civ4 exe. The directx requirement is whatever it has always been. Althought, I suppose upgrading could have an effect depending backwards compatability.

I am afraid that it might be more map/game related than anything in the HOF mod. :sad:

Thanks for the resonse. Could just be my wimpy box. It crashed in the warlords SGOTM 4 today at a date and game stage that I would not have expected, so maybe not so unique to GOTM 17 and the new vanilla mod.

Shopping hard for a new machine ... probably get one in the next week.
