REQUIREMENTS

You are able to spend a lot of time on this NOW!

Just some creative writing and a little research is all that is required.
I will teach you how to write the files required.

Post in this thread if you are willing to participate

Every leader from Civ Gold 3.0 needs to have 7 add-ons to them they all have first contact infos. now just need the other 7 which are (franklin roosevelt example to follow)

A refuse to talk Response
[OUR_EMPIRE] does not negotiate with terrorists.
A No Peace Response
Certainly not! You've awoken a sleeping tiger, [CT_NAME], and I hope you choke on it.
A friendly hello response
How absolutely marvey to see you again, [CT_NAME]! Do sit down; my man will get you a Martini.
An Unfriendly hello response
Come to add to our troubles, have you? Well, get on with it then.
A demand tribute when you are weaker then another civ
The only thing you have to fear is the terrible consequence of not giving me what I want.
A demand tribute when you are Equal to power as the other civ
Hello, [CT_NAME]! The price of freedom has just gone up.
A demand Tribute when you are strong as the pther civ
That certainly is a nice little civilization you have there, [CT_NAME]. It would be unfortunate if something were to happen to it...

If you are unfamiliar with programming just put them in a word document or notpad or whatever have you.

If you are familiar with programming, I will cut from your xml anyways... so a word document is just as good..

I REALLY MUST SAY THANKS!
for volunteering.

I hope you know the leaders for the Civ Gold 3.0 civs
if not we'll have to get in touch Purplexus70@hotmail.com both my e-mail and MSN messanger

How culturally-specific would you want these? It seems like it could be difficult to come-up with more-than-generic quotes for some of the civs you have included.

It would be cool if you came up with something like "V" is for Victory for say Churchill... you know that kinda thing. Or say for instance with a martin luther king LH you maybe would want to put in there somewehre I HAVE A DREAM THAT ONE DAY YOU AND I COULD BE NEIGHBOURS. But you know this doesn't have to be the case.

I've completed the code for Diplomacy and touroughly tested it to the point of being confident its working well. I would post a new DLL but am polishing up some other code that involves increasing the flexibilities of art pathways, it should be done shortly. In the meantime I've updated the Aborigine Civ leaders with the necessary xml for Diplomacy. I'd recomend everyone have a look at it and begin using it to do the remaining Diplomacy in this format. I'll have a DLL out to you soon with which you can test it with but I figured you would like to see the new format, the files are very short and will be easy to make. The Diplo file normaly uses the GameInfo schema but Ive placed a shortened version that less then 1/10 as large which should speed loading (well it can't make it longer). You might want to rename it to Diplomacy Schema or something like that.

AN EXAMPLE OF SOME REALLY CREATIVE WRITING!

Heke
A refuse to talk Response - Not until you give me what I was promised.
A No Peace Response - I refuse to be tricked into signing a peace treaty again.
A friendly hello response - Ah, my friend how are you on this glorious day?
An Unfriendly hello response - Oh, its YOU, well what do you want this time?
A demand tribute when you are weaker then another civ - Give us what we need, you promised you would!
A demand tribute when you are Equal to power as the other civ -If you help now, I will remember when you are in need.
A demand Tribute when you are stronger then the other civ - Give us, or we will take it.

Which civs, i have some spare time to find a few qoutes for you, and maybe make some up

Since you seem to be familiar with Amra's Civilizations...
You could start with those.

Armenia
Andranik
Assyria
Ashurbanipal
Bulgaria
Stambolov
Etruria
Lars Porsena
Goths
Alaric
Hittites
Suppiluliuma
Italy
Vittorio
Kushans
Kanishka
Majapahit
Gajah Mada
Minoa
Satur
Picts
Calgacus
Troy
Hector

This would keep all but the truly ambitious busy for a while

***NOTE***
Although if you can reference History into these quotes that would be great. but I'll give you an example of something firaxis did to keep in Mind.

Caesar First Contact
Would you like some Salad? I made it myself.

Note the lack of historical thinking behind this!

I hope this is ok, these are adaptations of historical qoutes made by Ashurbanipal. I expect that you might want to alter them but I hope its in the ball park. The more I read about this guy the more i liked him. I can also send you the internet source if you like.

Assyrians

A refuse to talk Response - I will only speak when we have come to mutual understanding.
A No Peace Response - Your words are nothing but wind, I do not believe you, I will not, for a moment, listen to your lies.
A friendly hello response - Let there be peace between us and let us come to mutual understanding?
An Unfriendly hello response - Camels were bought within my country for less than one shekel of silver on the market place, why should I speak to you, hurry and be off you wild ass.
A demand tribute when you are weaker then another civ -Do not contaminate your Own good name, which is unsullied before me and before the whole world. Please help my people.
A demand tribute when you are Equal to power as the other civ -The noise of people, the tread of cattle and sheep, the glad shouts of rejoicing, I will banish from your fields if I do not get what I want.
A demand Tribute when you are stronger then the other civ - Those who had plagued the kings, my fathers, I destroyed, I devastated,
I exposed to the sun, their bones, I carried off to Assyria, give me what I want or the same fate shall be yours.

For an invitation to war,

'Let there be peace between us and let us come to mutual understanding; we will divide the country. between us, no foreigner shall be ruler among us!"

This is based on surviving tablets from Suppiluliuma 1 to the King of Egypt, Source of these texts: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Atlantis/8322/cap-23.pdf, accessed in 2001, unavailable since January 2003 at least I Improvised.

My gramma keys aren\t working as you can see. So i hope you can fill in the apostrophes and question marks. The commas are Ok.

A refuse to talk Response - As soon as my chariots are ready to carry your corpse than we shall speak.
A No Peace Response - And now, as to the tablet you have sent me, why have you put the name of my brother above my name? And who is it who troubles the good relations between us?Until this is resolved we will have no peace
A friendly hello response - Welcome, what you, my brother may want, write to me and I shall send it to my brother.
An Unfriendly hello response - Has such behaviour become custom? My brother, have you written to me thinking that we become allies? Now go, your presence sickens me
A demand tribute when you are weaker then another civ - I wish good friendship to exist between you and me. I have expressed a wish to you, now please help us
A demand tribute when you are Equal to power as the other civ -I did not reject anything your father asked for, and your father never neglected none of the wishes I expressed, but granted me everything, do not refuse, my brother
A demand Tribute when you are stronger then the other civ -If you are my brother, why have you praised my name, when I am no better thought of than a cadaver? But your name I will rub out if you do not meet my demands

Refuse to talk Response:

No Peace:
I have endured coups, war and prison. i can endure you too.
Friendly Hello:
Ah, long time my friend, what can I help you with?
Unfriendly Hello:
Who brought this nonsense here?! Well, what do you want!?
Demand Tribute of Inferior:
The Giant of Africa demands the following from your useless people, refuse and you will see why we are the Giant of Africa!
Demand tribute from equal:
Ah, my friend surely you know that we always wanted this...
Demand tribute from Superior:
Poverty and corruption is spreading in our lands, surely someone of your power can do your part to stop it?

Some thoughts for Hector

I'm sure Constantine67 will have better - I have just taken some of Homer's Illiad and used them as responses (almost always Hector's speeches though I have hijacked one of Achilles'). I had to make up a couple as well, but kept them within the context of the Illiad (the only source that I am very familiar with that deals with Hector).

A refuse to talk Response – I would die of shame to face the men of Troy and the Trojan women trailing their long robes if I would shrink from battle now, a coward. Nor does the spirit urge me on that way. I’ve learned it all too well. To stand up bravely, always to fight in the front ranks of Trojan soldiers, winning my father great glory, glory for myself. (Illiad)

A No Peace Response - We Trojans are favored by Apollo the Archer-King, Ares, the god of War, and the goddess of love- the mighty Aphrodite. Why would any son of Priam capitulate to you? (Created)

A friendly hello response – You are welcome beyond the impenetrable walls of Troy, friend. Come, I shall summon Paris and Helen and we shall feast to the glory of our empires. (Created)

An Unfriendly hello response – You have the stench of Agamemnon about you, [civ leader]. Do you bring another man-killer like Achilles to Troy’s pristine shores? If you have brought a wooden horse with you, I think you should go homer. (Created- pseudo humor - could add "You desire to drag my corpse behind your chariot?" if there's room (how Hector's corpse is abused by Achilles in Illiad)

A demand tribute when you are weaker then another civ - There are no binding oaths between men and lions—wolves and lambs can enjoy no meeting of the minds – but grant us this pittance. (Illiad)

A demand tribute when you are Equal to power as the other civ -Come, let us give each other gifts, unforgettable gifts, so any man may say, Trojan soldier or otherwise, ‘First they fought with heart-devouring hatred, then they parted, bound by pacts of friendship.’ (Illiad)

A demand Tribute when you are stronger then the other civ –I am Hector of the flashing Helmet, Prince of Troy, the equal to none in battle save Achilles the Myrmidion. Give me what I ask – or I shall take it by force. (Created)

For Calgacus:

Refuse to talk Response: We will not speak today [Player Name], not to you who pervert the words we use. You who twist them into curious, ugly reflections that quickly become unrecognisable.

No Peace: Never! To your robbery, slaughter, plunder, you give the lying name of empire; you who would make a solitude and call it peace!

Friendly Hello: Hello my friend, tell me of a fight so we may bring glory to our peoples.

Unfriendly Hello: Ah it is you. Upon consideration of the origin of our differences and the necessities of our position, I have a sure confidence that this day will get us nowhere.

Demand Tribute of Inferior: On the one side you have our generals and our army; on the other, tribute. Which of these you endure, now you must decide.

Demand tribute from equal: Whether it be safety or renown that you hold most precious [Player Name], it would be to your benefit to gift us our request.

Demand tribute from Superior: Fortune has not been kind to us [Player Name]. We have neither fruitful plains, nor mines, nor harbours. Friend, you are the last hope of us for succour.

(There's very little material out there apart from one speech attributed to Calgacus by Tacitus. Tacitus might have been putting words in his mouth.)

Work has kept me busy for 12 hours a day 7 days a week.
Then I come home and do the office part of the job.

I made a slightly humorous set of diplomacy text for Lázaro Cárdenas of Mexico.

Refuse to Talk:
Go away, you burro. You are dead to me.
No Peace:
Peace is not an option for the [OUR_CIV_ADJ] people. We've overthrown everyone who has oppresed us, so we're not afraid of you.
Friendly Greeting:
I'm glad to have you here again, [CT_NAME]. May I serve you a margarita?
Furious Greeting:
Let me just say how glad I am that you don't rule my country, [CT_NAME]. [OUR_CIV_SHORT] could not stand to have another corrupt leader.
Demand Tribute from Superior:
[OUR_CIV_SHORT] has gone through many troubles. Perhaps you could find it in your heart to help us.
Demand Tribute from Equal:
Drop the chalupa, [CT_NAME], and give us what we want.
Demand Tribute from Inferior:
In [OUR_CIV_SHORT] we celebrate the Day of the Dead. Pay us our tribute and perhaps then you won't need to join us in our celebration, if you catch my drift...

Here we have some quotes for Leonidas of Greece (based mostly on 300 quotes):

Refuse to Talk:
Do not speak to me, [CT_NAME]. [OUR_CIV_SHORT] does not negotiate with tyrants.
No Peace:
The [OUR_CIV_ADJ] people never retreat! The [OUR_CIV_ADJ] people never surrender!
Friendly Greeting:
I am happy to see you again, [CT_NAME] It has been a honor to live by your side.
Furious Greeting:
You there, [CT_NAME], may you live forever. That's not a compliment, by the way...
Demand Tribute from Superior:
We sorely need this, [CT_NAME]. Could you provide us with it?
Demand Tribute from Equal:
Our armies may be equal in size, but as outnumbered as ours may be, we can still cause your civilization considerable damage if you don't give in into our demands.
Demand Tribute from Inferior:
Hand it over or I'll kick you and your weak civilization into the pit of death.

First contact quotes? I'd have one for Lenin: Greetings, comrade! Have you come to join the socialist revolution, or does the Cheka have one more name on their list?

Cheka is the Bolshevik secret police, created to protect the newly-established Bolshevik government from counterrevolutionaries and other political opponents.
