Does anyone know what the new wonders in beyond the sword will actually do?

Nope. We know what some of the wonders will be, and some of these have been, I believe, in past Civilization games. We might be able to guess that they will have the same abilities that they had in the prior games, or maybe the abilities of another wonder from that game. As of now, we can only speculate, and there has not really been much additional information about Beyond the Sword since its initial announcement.

:Edit: Just as a note, the five announced wonders are the Statue of Zeus, the Cristo Redentor, the Shwedagon Paya, the Mausoleum of Maussollos, and the Moai Statues. The way it was worded, these will be the only additional wonders, although I think the Apostolic Palace is also a wonder of sorts. All we know is that the Apostolic Palace will act as an early U.N., but we don't know its exact features.

Statue of Zeus is NOT a new wonder. It is already in three of the Warlords scenarios, complete with its own unique graphics and civilopedia entry. Its effect is to reduce maintenance in nearby cities just like forbidden palace and Versailles.

well correct me if I am wrong, but I thought some of the existing wonders in some of the scenarios were altered from their original ability... Plus I doubt firaxis would add in a new wonder with the same ability of an existing wonder.
