View Full Version : News: New GOTM Server
AlanH Apr 29, 2007, 09:17 PM For all those who don't read Announcements ...
We are cutting over to a new GOTM server. The process has already started, and when you connect to most pages on the existing server you will be redirected to the equivalent page on the new server. Please continue to use your normal bookmarks and links.
You can tell when you are on the new GOTM server if the URL contains '72.36.239.243' instead of 'gotm.civfanatics.net'. In a day or so the DNS system will take you directly to the new server, and the URLs will revert to normal.
The scripts and pages have undergone a number of changes in order for this redirection to happen, and to make the transition as transparent as possible. However, I'm sure I shall have missed something, so if you spot any abnormal behaviour please contact me asap via PM or email.

AlanH Apr 30, 2007, 07:31 AM OK, I've verified that there's a problem with IE6. Firefox and Safari work fine., and I haven't tried IE7 yet.
[UPDATE] IE7 gives the same problem
[UPDATE 2] I've added a link to click if you are using one of the above !*&*@! browsers.
Shono Mercy Apr 30, 2007, 08:34 PM mine is IE7. previous bookmark working fine now thanks...
schmiddi May 01, 2007, 03:45 PM Is that the reason foir the gotm18 page being so full of errors?
AlanH May 01, 2007, 04:12 PM Correct. I guess I missed a couple of edits that were needed to make the scripts portable. Hopefully now fixed ... :thanx:
Lexad May 02, 2007, 01:18 PM Is it just me, or the Global Rankings page is glitching with scores calculation?
AlanH May 02, 2007, 04:13 PM Someone has reported this to me by PM as well.
Sorry, I haven't had a chance to investigate yet, and with UK local elections tomorrow, I probably won't get to it until Friday.
Vynd May 02, 2007, 07:47 PM Is it just me, or the Global Rankings page is glitching with scores calculation?
Nonsense! Those results are just fine. Everyone knows I achieved the maximum possible score in every game I submitted. And some that I didn't submit, for that matter. :mischief:
The Mad Swede May 03, 2007, 02:03 AM Yep, definitely something wrong with the rankings!
da_Vinci May 05, 2007, 01:46 PM Yep, definitely something wrong with the rankings! Speed rankings are pretty weird too. Looks like the aging function has run amok, among other things!
My ranking has never looked so good! :D Too bad its not real!

AlanH May 06, 2007, 01:22 PM Looks like a difference in the way the new database server handles floating point numbers. I've fixed the database structure and rebuilt the GR tables. Please let me know if there are any remaining problems.
