I think that the Civ creators are starting to get bold. I mean in Civ 3 the expansion pacts only added new civs and new buildings and units, but with Civ 4 there actually adding new aspects to the game.
In Warlords they added Vassals and now there adding corporation.

I'm glad that they are correcting the mistakes that they made with Civilization III, by and far the worst of the four installments in the series. The expansion packs for CivIII were such a disappointment and the fact that they had to add online play through one is just a symbol of how poorly that branch was developed.

Warlords added UB and great generals also! Not to mention new traits :) It was an awsoem expension. But with an expension that good I always wodner if they left thsoe things out of vanilla on pourpose so they can make an expension. When you thinka bout it if they add in an expension somethign that was available in civ3 liek adding marshland, then I woudl realy cry foul :)

CIVIII Conquests was a failure because it added lots of new, but unbalanced, stuff to the game. While I might get excited by each individual new idea, when I see the quantity of new stuff being added I worry that the same mistake is being made.

I thought it was a success for the balancing. I mean the editer was revamped so any dimwit could balance better then any Civ4 offerin. It was all how smart you were that made your game carry on good or not. I liked that.

Ex: you think Armys were unbalanced so ya droped the army per city allocation ratio, Now their rare but pivital product used to break stalemates and overcome inadversable odds. if ya don't like em drop em all together.

Make unit faster/maker unit slower. Make unit stronger/Make unit weaker.

-Adjust tech cost for AI/Ajust tech cost for human

-Artillary to AI criplin? easy fix. Raise the sheild cost creating a direct emphasis on production capacity towns.

--Blah blah and on and on! Everything easy as pie! And thats the big important factor thta makes it better then CIv4 The abilty to Balance like no other game. Civ4 compared to this? What a stinkin shame lol

IM surprised You guys Never got the 3rd expansion to CIv3! .It was available 2005 only by download and actually called THe Balancer Reloaded (http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=66557&d=1093711777) Boy ya'll missed out!. IT was free to those who bought conquest!;)

Thanks to editer anyone can balance. This goes for any problem ever mentioned by a civ3 hater. For the first time People could make the game more balancer themselves and make better game then what was shipped in box. Thats better then CIv4's style which is hoping for modder to do corrections for you when they get around to it. Even then it might not be the way you indended it to be but itswhat you must get used to. beacuse You can't balance the game the way you like. You don't now how.

I imagine you guys quit early on and never bothered to learn the ins and outs of the easy to operate editer. Probably Civ2 fans hurt by the changes Hey, its cool, who cares?
We all have are own opinions based on own differant expierences.
Happy Civvin.
