well, with BTS will come new leaders. What will be their greetings?

please limit to the announced or already known leaders:

Bouddica of the Celt
Pacal of the Maya
Joao of the Portuguese
Sitting Bull of the native americans/sioux
Abraham Lincoln of the Americans
willem of Oranje of the dutch
suleyman of the ottomans

I know that Babylonians are in and that Hammurabi have great chances to be picked up, but, that's still not official

Bouddica:
"Hey, Do you buy me a drink or do i need to burn some of your cities?" (stolen from the boudicca thread)

Sitting Bull:
"Greetings, let's smoke this pipe, we will see pink bisons running in the great plains!!!"

Abe Lincoln:
"Salutations! let's share peace so that our people will build memorial in our memory"

Pacal:
"Greetings, the stars said it: as long as we have peace, you'll stay alive. As soon as we'll be warring..."

Joao:
"Salutations, my great explorers told me that your little nation exist...for now!!"

When ActualQuotes for BtS comes out, they'll all have greetings based on things they've acutally said. :)

No, I'm currently without a computer at my house. A brand spanking new one is on its way though, and so in about a week I shall start doing some preliminary research...

Mostly I just want BtS to come out already.

William of Orange:
"My flowers are oh so pretty, are they not? Oh, I'm sorry. Who are you? I haven't put up a trade embassy in your little cute civilization yet? Well, hello hello!"

Boudicca:
"Hey there. Is that a javelin in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

Sitting Bull:
"How, Paleface. You aren't looking for a land bargain, are you?"

Abe Lincoln:
"With malice toward none, and with charity for all, let us go forward this day in peace. Unless you decide to attack us, in which case I'll have General Sherman dispatch you promptly."

Pacal:
"Greetings. May the feathered snake god Kukulcan never sour your presence with nasty bites!"

Joao:
"It is a pleasure to meet you. I have a Good Hope that our two civilizations can go forward in peace... if not, well, we're always looking for fresh blood--er, I mean colonies."

Hammurabi:
"I'm sorry. It's my fault there are so many lawyers running around..."

Boudicca:
Do tell me which part of Britain you come from. Or are you just a foreigner ?

Joao:
Hello there ! Can I offer you a glass of port ?

no, they won't, just look at what Caesar says... ;)

With Boudiccea, there certainly will be some kind of hot exotic wild sexiness with here ;) (a la Catherine).

I especially find the Portwine quote good of Joao ;)

It's from his Gettysburg address, a short famous speech. Most American school children are taught it.

I expect some quote referring to "going Dutch" for whoever is the Dutch Leader:

Isabella of Spain: Willem of Orange, could you spare us this [tech]?

Willem of Orange: I believe in the idea that there should be equality of the sexes.

I'm British. But Lincoln says "4 score and 7 minutes ago" at the beginning of his speech in Bill & Ted's excellent adventure.

I'd think it possible William of Orange is chosen as leader, but likely not. He was more of a separatist leader, and died rather soon, and never truly was in charge of the Dutch Republic.

besides i think at that time of William of Orange, the dutch empire didn't exist and it was called the "united Provinces" or something like that.

William of Orange: "My God, my God, have pity on me and on this poor people"

Without William of Orange, there was no Dutch empire at all. I think it's the only logical choice we have. No other Dutch ruler comes close.

Oh no no! Please don't make me remember the Civ 4 quotes. One of the very few things which were better in Civ 3 were its intelligent and funny phrases por the leaders.
"You can kiss my royal..."
"I will sacrifice 50 virgins..." (unauthentic, but amusing)
"We, the Englishmen, have created the armed robbery..."
"Despite the rumors spread by my enemies, I'm not a Cannibal"

I think the diplomacy txt should be completely remade

Johan de Wit could also come close, but Willem of Orange is the Pater Patriae of the Netherlands and he is the most recognizable name.

Also, there is bound to be a leader greeting referring to Willem of Orange's nickname, Willem the Silent.

 There should be a calendar in the game. On May 21, 2012 (or whenever they said the world would end) Pacal should leave his diplomacy screen and hide under a table, quivering.

Which was due to there being more unique dialogue. But yeh, III had it better.

Actually I think it's December 2012, but this would be very funny either way. :D

i add Willem of Oranje and Suleyman in the first post...

Willem of Oranje: "Greetings, want some weezy weezy ressources that can be smocked up?"
Suleyman: "salutations, foreigners. I hope you don't try to hide one of my sons, or it will speed your fate..." (some male child of suleyman tried several times to destitute him with the help of foreigners)

"In other news, the Mayan spaceship program has been scrapped, as the game will be ending in three turns..."

It is indeed the 21st of December 2012, but it's a common misconsception that the Maya believed that the world would end at this date - it's merely the end of the 12th b'ak'tun (a period of approximately 400 years). Actually, Pacal himself was convinced a celebration of the anniversary of his coronation would take place in 4772.

Pacal: You know my calander tells me the world is going to end in 2050?

That's funny and clever  I wouldn't be surprised to se something like that in the actual game.
