All the units seem to be working beautifully so far with the exception of the V-2. I tried running the flc files for the V-2. The attack and launch flcs are giving an error message when I try to run them in CivFlcEdit.

Wyrmshadow
May 26, 2007, 02:56 AM
The V-2 was just meant as an experiment in making it look a little more realistic. I always thought it looked dumb to have a lone missile moving around the map. I tried to combine Krazeenbek's V-2 animations, remember, I has to be a tacticle missile. I never tested it in game so I don't know if my idea works or not.

Yeah, Wyrmshadow's incredibly lazy. He's only created 1100+ units with full animations. Hell, he should be making your whole mod for you because he's so lazy right now.

I didnt put in sounds because it would make the files bigger, and you have all the default sounds you need already. They came with the game, just link them within the INI file.

The defend.ini is, if I'm not mistaken, for the "last attack", i.e. the one played when a unit has only 1 HP left.

From what I gather, "Defend" is an "extra" attack, which a defending unit has ~1/20 chance of using when in battle. I'm not too sure about the other workings of it, though, I'm afraid...

With the Tatra it seems, that there is a colour problem, especially with the front animations:

Imagine France would have soundly defeated the Germans in may 1940. War is over.

How would you have been able to make Russian or American vehicles, or German late war? Hm?

:o Well, I like your little Sumoa Tank Hunter, even if (or especialy because) its French - it spices up the early WWII campaigning by complementing the Sumoa Cavalry Tank - and looks sweet, btw.

And Steph may be right... imagine a world in which France and Italy would have provided the technological cold war know how... and would have faced the USSR instead of Germany & Co. - a sci-fi-NWO-horror story? ;)

I'm so glad I got on these forums, look at all the real history I would have missed out on :D

And besides, if France had indeed won it in 1940 think of all the great WWII movies that would not have been made!!!!! Very considerate of them.

Excellent units gentlemen, thank you.

A quick question, Do you use these type of units as either offensive or defensive in the game ?

Depends upon your alternate history. One school of thought is that a Russo-German conflict mid-century for dominance of Central Europe was inevitable. So let's say France extended the Maginot Line nullifying the Blitzkrieg. Poland was already partitioned; USSR attacks Germany in 1941; "West" rallies behind Germany (a great fear of Communism was a definite undercurrent of the times, even viz. Nazi Germany.) French Somuas are rushed to face BT-7s and early T-34s ...

... Oh, and another wonderful unit, Dr. W. (with thanks to Ares and gwendoline.)

It might have something to do with the "Ranged Attack" flag also - although I'm not sure what it might be.

For what it's worth (going somewhat OT), I've always had trouble with naval units when one doesn't have Rotate and the other does...

Now those are pretty awesome and moreso unexpected new additions - China is moving onto the stage and that FCM is a great nemesis for your Maus/K100 and US T-28 (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?188943-Id-this-strange-tank) tanks. Many thanks & Kuddos Wyrmshadow !!!

@Nexxo: The French, apart from the FCM F1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FCM_F1) even had several designs in the make by competitors (see the AMX tracteurs, where it says chars lours (http://ww2drawings.jexiste.fr/Files/1-Vehicles/Allies/4-France/French-Armor.htm)). But then again, most large powers were at it during (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-heavy_tank) even the interwar and early stages of WWII.

Welcome. I might be able to make an easy conversion out of some of these. Only thing is that I myself don't seem to find this babe here. Not even sure about the unit name.

http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg822/scaled.php?tn=0&server=822&filename=noidea.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=640

Was almost certain it was a UK unit... now I am not even sure anymore, if it really is a Wyrmshadow original or whether I might have also just photoshopped and put it on my preview list. If anyone'd point out the right DL-Link... ^^

Judging by the tracks and running gear it's pretty clearly an M3 back with a Somua front end; the gun could be anything although the only shields like that were on the M3 were on the AT version (which had a much larger/longer barrel) -- the closest approximation seems to be on contemporaneous German 1/2 tracks. So my vote goes to your skills with Photoshop ;)

EDIT: Right, I've got the def & run for the round canvas version of the Laffly ready and a halftracked transport version is also in the makes , even though I will have to use different parts. No idea where I stole those tracks and all (the gunned Laffly variant is most probably not going to join the show). Once that is done, I will see what I can do about the death animation. Might try my luck on the Dutch Ford/DAF thereafter.
