...enjoy yet another TopGun/Fire Fox collaboration! :)
Stormrage May 27, 2007, 06:07 AM Nice jets you made there. Great camo work. Altho I never quite understood the concept of camo on airplanes (I know its not your idea btw ;))?
-"False alarm, it was just some leaves on the wind"
-"Lt.Meyers! At 10.000 ft??????"
woodelf May 27, 2007, 07:47 AM I think the camo might be for when they are on the ground. ;)
Nice looking units.
Stormrage May 27, 2007, 07:51 AM Well duh, but you can`t exactly "park" a plane in the woods and go releave yourself behind that big bush, like you could with a chopper ;)
Also, when do you plan to realise how much civ3 is better than civ4 and return here?
SoAB May 27, 2007, 10:46 AM For the F-15I's cammo my best guess is that it's for protection from fighters attacking above. F-15I's may have to fly low level to avoid radar detection and Isreal's neighbors don't exactly have the best fighter aircraft.
If they scramble something up with garbage radar like the Mig 21, Mig 23those pilots would have a hard time picking up an Eagle flying that close to ground. And since those F-15 I have that neat desert cammo so you're going to have a hard time picking them out visually as well.
Anyways, great units Top Gun, A decent looking Strike Eagle (I know, F-15Is are a bit different) was sorely needed. Somebody else made a good looking F-15E but the shadow was all messed up, I couldn't really use it. But I can use this, definately.
SoAB May 27, 2007, 11:22 AM Opps, sorry for the dub' post.... when I was running them through Flicster they looked good. "Kind of big" I thought and "oh well, I don't mind them big."
But when I put them in game... I realized those things are massive. Compared to the scale of Wyrmshadow's or Bebro's work. And seemlingly big compared to some of your earlier work (like the F-16A Netz) as well. F-16s and F-15s use the same engine if I'm not mistaken, there should be a logical difference in size between the two.
I guess I spoke too soon.
I'm not suggesting you do anything one way or another, it's your art but geez.. that bird had alot to much to eat.
TopGun May 27, 2007, 12:01 PM As I said in my TAW thread... the size of these birds puts them right between two scale ranges (1:200 or 1:225). I chose to keep them at 1:200, to keep them comparable in size to other planes, such as the A-4F. But I am beginning to realize that they may be indeed too big. Can anybody make some in-game screenies of these aircraft, please?
SoAB May 27, 2007, 12:06 PM I'm on it. I'll put it in comparsion as well.
NavyDawg May 27, 2007, 12:22 PM Great modeling and textures as well as the animations!:goodjob:
SoAB May 27, 2007, 01:16 PM Alright, Top Gun here we go. The picture is a bit skewed to the right but oh well...
The blue-grey F-15 on the left is Bebro's. I'm sure you recognize the F-16 Netz below that. And of course the we have the Wyrmshadow's Mig 31 Foxhound on the top right. Now the Mig 31 itself is a pretty hefty aircraft, imagine my suprise though when I put the F-15I in game.
Yeah, wow, that's 4 engined bomber sizes there.
Other than that though, its excellent quality work. I'm always been a fan of your attention to detail and the color of your units, and it shows in your work.
TopGun May 27, 2007, 03:49 PM Definitely too big...
Stormrage May 27, 2007, 06:43 PM Holy crap! Its a War-Boeing! :D If we ignore the size it looks great!
TopGun May 28, 2007, 12:55 AM I resized both units. Check it out guys... :)
SoAB May 28, 2007, 08:18 AM Excellent work, much better.
One thing, if you download the new F-15 version, be sure to change the "default" animation in the ini. file. It still has the old jumbo-sized Raam_fidget.ini. listed. Change it to the resized, "Raam_Default.ini.
TopGun Jun 17, 2007, 11:34 PM The F-4E Kurnas is updated. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=5653)
TopGun Jun 19, 2007, 12:11 AM The Ra'am, too. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=5654)
Wolfhart Jun 19, 2007, 02:37 AM There's a minor problem with both unit's .INI-files: they both use a non-existing Fidget.flc as default and their Default.flcs as fidgets. Easy to correct by yourself (cut out the ref to the Default.flc and paste it over the ref to the Fidget.flc), but I thought I should mention it anyway.
Otherwise I have nothing to complain about. These are lovely units, and I have included them in the modern time mods I use :goodjob:

Thanks for catching that. Yes, please correct this. These units should use the default flcs for Default and Fidget.
