View Full Version : DDRAM? SDRAM? RAMbuchan?
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 06:32 AM Hey guys, where can I check what sort of RAM does my system use? Its a 4yr old system, so I suppose it can have either DDRAM or SDRAM. I have a buddy who can give some of his "whichever of those 2 is olderRAM", and I`ll have another buddy to install it for me (computers are quantum physics for me, especially on the inside ;)), but I don`t want to call him and bother him just so we can see what it is.
Can I look it up somewhere? Control Panel didn`t yield any results (mebbe I missed it). Anyway, if anyone knows, I`d appreciate the help. Thanks.
Grohan Jun 06, 2007, 08:29 AM I don't know if there is any way to check it without programs but at least CPU-Z is a very good tool for these kind of matters.

Speedo Jun 06, 2007, 09:54 AM Unless it was ancient at the time you bought it, it'll use DDR.
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 10:01 AM It was new when I bought it, but a piece of crap even then (imagine it now! I just put TES:Oblivion`s box in the same room with it, and my computer starts smoking..), it has 96 MB RAM
Thanks guys :)

Well, probably SDRAM in that case. I'm not even sure they ever made DDR DIMMs smaller than 128 MB.
Stormrage Jun 06, 2007, 11:53 AM Well, that buddy of mine once installed a diagnose program like the Grohan gave me and it said 96, which was particullary embaressing :goodjob:
But this CPU-Z thingy says I have 128MB and that it is DDR.. Bummer, now I have to pay for an upgrade ;)
GoodGame Jun 09, 2007, 04:55 PM Another method is try to figure out the motherboard (mobo) it is, and try to download a specsheet on it. That will tell you the full ram configuration possibilities.
superslug Jun 09, 2007, 06:45 PM I think www.crucial.com can actually tell you just by visiting their site from your computer...
Stormrage Jun 09, 2007, 07:59 PM Thanks guys, I was just talking with the tech-support guy at my company today, and he said to check out that too.
