View Full Version : QUESTION -- Air Combat Limit Ambreville Jun 06, 2007, 07:56 AM I ran into this tag line in the Unit descriptions XML file. What does AirCombatLimit regulate? What's this stat for? Thanks n003lb Jun 06, 2007, 11:56 PM It limits the amount of damage air units can inflict on a target. If it's set to AirCombatLimit<50> (not sure if the tag is correct, I'm not an XML programmer :)), then the aircraft can only deal a maximum of 50% damage to the target. Set this to 100 to allow aircraft to make complete kills. This is a must, IMO, because with the limit in place, aircraft are almost usless for anything except recon. I kind of agree with the limit in place when attacking ground units with a fighter, but a fighter should be able to sink a ship any day. I wish there was a way to allow different limits based on the target's domain, but as far as I know, there is not. Ambreville Jun 07, 2007, 12:09 AM Great, thanks for that info. I agree with you on whether it should apply to naval vs ground targets. BTS maybe... Ambreville Jun 08, 2007, 03:10 PM In the same vein, what does the BombRate govern?? n003lb Jun 08, 2007, 04:12 PM I'm not certain what the BombRate does. I've never tried to change that one. Have you tried looking at the wiki? n003lb Jun 08, 2007, 04:20 PM Okay, I just looked at the wiki and it describes the iBombRate and iBombardRate tags as: iBombRate = Damage an Airplane can dish out when on a Bombing Run iBombardRate = Damage a ground/sea unit can dish out against Cities So I guess the iBombRate tag controls how much damage a plane deals when bombing a city or tile improvment, while the AirCombatLimit tag controls how much damage is done when the plane either attacks another aircraft or attacks a surface unit. Not Wikipedia. Civ4Wiki. Its a wiki that was set up some time ago as a repository of information for Civ 4. It's a great site to find a lot of information. However, it's also never complete, being a wiki. Info can be found on most of the XML files that are modded often, but some XML files are not referenced. For XML references, go to the "Mod Reference" section under the "Modifying Civ 4" area on the right. You can also find Python and SDK references, as well as things like unit indexes and such. You can find it here (http://civ4wiki.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page). Ambreville Jun 10, 2007, 10:05 AM Not Wikipedia. Civ4Wiki.
