ok, now we know 9 of the civs, but wich civ will be the last one?

we know:
Babylonians
Dutch
portuguese
Sioux
Sumerians
Byzantines
Maya
South east asian civ
HRE
???

they mentioned some about an african civ in the chat but their answer wasn't very good

wich civ Will be the last civ?

My guess: Ethiopia

We only know 8 of the civs; the South East Asian civ is yet to be determined. I understand from the chat on Friday that the other civ will be African. My guess would be Siam for the SE Asian civ and Ethiopia for the African civ.

I heard the last civ was an African one???

on the chat, Firaxis said something like this:

Q: "So will Africa be getting representation?"

A: "Yes, Africa will be represented"

so, tohugh they didn't explicitly state that there WILL be an African civ, what else can Africa be represented by?

Gaius Octavius
Jun 17, 2007, 02:47 PM
Maybe a colony?

cybrxkhan
Jun 17, 2007, 02:49 PM
well, i was thinking maybe they were going to simulate actual slave trading some how (yes, its a bad thing, but like war, it was an important part of history). unlikely, though, because then they should've mentioned it.

I went over the chat log again, and this is what was said:

Will there be any Africa-related additions to BTS?
<alexman> Yes to Africa

Rigorously taken, logic does not demand that the last civ will in fact be African. This could simply mean something is added to BtS in the Crossroads scenario about Africa. That would be an "Africa-related addition."

There has been no confirmation of Sumeria. 2 civs remain to to be annouced.

hmm... true, maybe they'll put in a Frankish civilization or something :)

but there is confirmation of Gilgemesh, and its unlikely he'll be a Babylonian leader.

With addition of the Native Americans, it seems like Firaxis is trying to get some civs to represent an area.

more evidence for the Sumerians:

if you check out this screenie:

http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=1129&c=24

you can see there are two obviously Mesopotamian units. one is likely the Babylonian Bowman... and the other is likely the Enkidu Warrior or Vulture or whatever...

and plus, anyways, Firaxis was originally going to put Sumeria in Vanilla civ, but decided not to, saying that we'll "put it in for later versions"... well, this is a later version.

Ethiopia would be awesome, as would Nubia. However the latter probably will be overlooked, because it is closely related to Egypt (but that didnt stop with the HRE and rome . . . . .)

precisely.

and maybe Nubia would be in because Firaxis is going to copy off RoN.

This states that they could both be for one civ.

Is there more flavour between civs, for example, different artwork for same units, etc...?
<FXS_JonShafer> there is new art
<FXS_JonShafer> which was produced by some of the modders helping with BTS
<FXS_JonShafer> so the same unit will look different for different civs
<FXS_JonShafer> something that's cool
<alexman> There is some different artwork for the same units, thanks to our fans
<FXS_JonShafer> it's not for all civs or all units, but there is a noticeable difference
<Solver> The new graphics add a lot of flavour to the game there.

they said that both Hammurabi and Gilgamesh would be in, and they also said that no new civ would have more than one leader. so unless they're liars, then Hammurabi and Gilgamesh would be for separate civs.

then again, it would suck if we have a "mesopotamian" civ.

flamingzaroc121

if they put a Mesopotamian Civ, or even put Gilgamesh as a Babylonian leader there will be an outrage on the forum even greater than HRE or Boudicca

I'm aware of that, in fact that's what I said; they didn't say which civ it was though (unless they do the same as the Native American civ, but I don't think they will).

Africa CAN be represented by putting Nelson Mandela as a Zulu leader for one of the two remaining new leaders for established Civs. He is rather high on the ranking aspect you get after winning a game (top 5 I think).

In which case you'll be disappointed, as this highly classified memo I borrowed from Firaxis clearly states that the remaining civ will be the Moops.

Umm.... if I understand your username correctly, there are at least 35 other LastOnes. :D

Question: How can you be TheLastOne if there are at least 35 more?

Back on topic: I believe there will be a new African civ, but it's possible (although very unlikely) they've given a second leader to Mali or Zulu, which would qualify as an Africa-related addition.

ahh smart yeah, that coulb be it, they never says anything about a civ like they do whit the guy that asks if south asia will get a civ. didn't think of that

In the chat log when asked what their favorite new civ was, people who appeared to be testers or other staff besides the 4 main Firaxians who were present in the chat all said their favorite new civ was not announced yet.

This makes me more excited about the unannounced civs and their UU, UB and leader traits.

Considering all the big civs like Egypt, China, Russia are taken up. I wonder what the favorite new civ could be? Did some minor civ get a very good unique unit or trait combo? What was so special about it? I only ask this because ALL of them replied that their favorite new civ was not announced yet.

There are only two left and one is an SE Asia, but I would think they would just say "The SE Asia civ is my favorite" but maybe they didn't know a SE asia civ was confirmed.

Anyway, I am just curious about what could be so great about it.

Gaius Octavius

Could you please tell me where you read that?

cybrxkhan
Jun 18, 2007, 02:27 PM
Could you please tell me where you read that?

well, its something indirectly assumed. they said something like: "there will be ten new civs with a corresponding leader, and six new leaders for existing civs". so from that, one can say that there will only be a leader for each civ, but i could be wrong. anyhow, none of the civs in Warlords got two leaders.

but one could never know, then again...

Gaius Octavius
Jun 18, 2007, 02:38 PM
I guess that's a proof by contradiction.

We know 10 civs will be in. 10 civs = 10 leaders.

6 new leaders will be in for existing civs.

Hence, only 1 leader per new civ.

or am i... :shifty: if theres anything you must learn, you can never be so sure what a Viet is saying...

anyways, back on topic... the last civ is, according to everyone, an African one, so it could be Ethiopia or Nubia or Congo or Swahili or Songhai or AOfiosafijoaidwjf or whatever. however, as a few of us have pointed out, there is a possibility that Firaxis, when they said "we'll be having an African-related addition", could have simply meant a leader, or maybe even less  so, the last civ for all we know could be Vietnam or Poland or Texas.

Don't Buddhists deny the law of non-contradiction? Something about both/and vs. either/or?

If the last civ is Poland, I will laugh big-time. Everybody's been so mad after the HRE was announced. (+10  You took our spot!)

well... as far as i know, real Buddhists think that the entire world is BS and distracting and with all this ignorance and hatred and desire and attachment runnning around.

so, we have not really learned much about civs in the last few weeks except that the HRE is in.

and we still don't know what the freakin' civ for SE ASIA is. better be 'Nam, but know whos. i mean who knows.

God i'm laughing like hell now, I put in 36 because 36 is my fav number. I don't know how i came up with "the last one" though.

If that happened i'd be ******. The last civ is rightfully Ethiopia. HRE took polands spot and i have to live with it. But i wouldn't be surprised if Poland made it and the testers all said that Poland was the funnest :) although it seems unlikely.
