View Full Version : Bringing back civilization Groupings

In previous versions of civilization you didn't have seperate leaders for each civiizations, but instead had different civilizations that shared the same "color slot", and thus couldn't play in the same game together. I hated it. If I saw civilization X in the game, I knew civilization Y wouldn't be included.

However as a check box it might solve some arguments here. If germany, HRE, and France couldn't be in the same game together would anyone be arguing history for them? If Rome, HRE, and Byzantine couldn't be in the same game would anyone care?

Especially if the missing "Civilizations" from the group could split off from a colony, or during a civil war.

And if you wanted them all in from the start. . . unclick the check box on the start-up screen to reset it to what we consider standard now, you can have any set of civilizations, but only one leader each.

I don't think it would make much sense to keep France and Germany out of the same game, but I like the colony idea.

i have a similar idea. Why not have both Stalin, and Catherine in the game? two different leaders, but it could be like representing both Canada and England, it could be like to different countries that have the same ethnic group. < i don't know how this would work very clearly but it can work.

If this were implemented (although I can't imagine it ever would be), it might also help solve the problem of some civs having colours that are almost impossible to tell apart, eg. the Japanese and the Russians in Warlords. That said, if it were an optional feature, they couldn't really go changing the colours depending whether or not you had it switched on; that'd get confusing.

I hate the idea. It's dumb not to have both Germany and France in one game.

I guess I'm the only one who has no idea what this thread is about.
