Perhaps a land colapse to represent the fall of Númenor and destruction of Beleriand? Maybe a Balrog appearing in the late game? The Great Winter?

Corporations are quite difficult, but perhaps we could have some like "rangers of the North", "Dwarven craftsman", "Shire Pipeweed Company"...

maybe even have different races be corporations.

Let's now talk about espionage in BTS. Sauron and Morgoth had minions of spies in the free countries.

i had to reinstall the OS on my computer, after it completely crashed. i lost most of what i had done recently, so i've decided that i will restart the mod with BTS, and hopefully circumnavigate the bugs we had.

Events ideas:

1 - The Great Winter - loss of production throught your civilization
2 - River Overflows - loss of farming/towns
3 - Ringwraith Sightings - sort of like bandits, or cause unhappiness due to fear
4 - Wizard travel through - increase in research
5 - Elven wanderers - increase in food stores
6 - Rangers decide to stay and help defend area - Gain special ranger unit
7 - Sarumans' Influence builds industry - cause unhealthiness
8 - Roving bands of orcs - requies use of units for time
9 - Roving bands of wolves - loss of money to tame problem, loss of money but increase food, etc.
10 - Also use of many of the same events or just rename them to fit Middle-Earth concepts.

Just some ideas.

Yes, great. Just one idea for espionage, we could have the Vampires as spies for Morgoth (or maybe one Shadow, or one... Spy - the Ringwraiths are too fearsome and warlike to do it), but for the free peoples we should have Hobbits (yeah! but only later on the game) and, I don't know, Rangers, or something like this.

good idea.

Though dwarves would probably not use hobbits... i don't know what we'de give them, though.

Why not? See The Hobbit, they were the first to do so...

Dwarves really don't seem to me like they'd use spies.

For the Shadow, there could be the Eye of Sauron like they had in BFME. Hobbits make sense, and so do Rangers.

A council of the free-peoples corporation that granted a permanent defensive alliance and an event linked to it where a council is held in a city and that city's civ is granted bonuses, at the cost of being attacked.

Corporation? Do you mean UN stand-in?

Corporation Ideas: (Renames at least)

House Of Durin Craft Guild
Ulmos' Sea Foods
Vanyar Artistics
Saruman's Industry (To Get Coal if you put in his gunpowder unit)
Durins Jewlers

Just rename the corporations for a few of them and they will work. Others if you want all new, that I'm not sure about.

Those seem to make sense. I'll have to think about those a little.

Forgote to mention that you will also have to edit the required techs if you are going to have a limited tech line to make it feel more like lotr. At least I hope you will have a limited tech line as an option at least.

thomas.berubeg

what do you mean, alimited tech line?

Are you stoping research advancement in the medieval era to go along with the genre of lotr or allowing all the way through to future? If you stop the techline (research) at medieval, you will have to reassign the corporations because they do not come into play until modern times i believe.

I peronally hope you are putting astop in the research, or allowing it as an option to play only up to medieval eras like in lotr. That's all i was talking about.

What about the White council, like an UN or AP?

we are redoing the tech tree entirely, with techs like ring forging, Bowyers, Siege warfare, healing, wood working, etc... the list is somewhere...

We can edit the tech line as we wish. We can add/remove/modify all the techs in the tech tree, so the tech you are used to play with as normal Civ4, you won't probably see any.

In the version (bugged) for vanilla, we had completely redone the tech tree, and it was one of the few parts that worked well... I'll try to convert it to BTS as soon as I get time to work on it.

That looks good, even though it's a little grainy. If you shrink it to size, it'll probably work.
