The Olympics are meant to encourage peace, to bring all nations together peacefully onto a fair field and compete athletically. The United States and her citizens support this idea wholeheartedly. While others in Europe misrepresent us as a monarchy or a feudal state, our governemnt has assured wider freedoms than any government before or since it. If the nations of Europe were to embargo a New York Olympic Games, it would just show Europe's blind aggression against the USA slighting the Games of some of its' most competitive athletes.

Yuri escapes prison under mysterious circumstances
Last night the disgraced former advisor Yuri escaped from the cell where he was being held, pending trial for multiple offences.
According to officials, he escaped from the prison he had been moved to by, quote: "Hypnotizing them and then forcing them to release him from his cell." The guards apparently remember these events occuring, but do not remember having any control over their own faculties.
A nationwide manhunt, led by an elite NKVD division, has been launched to locate and apprehend the escapee, who is described as extremely dangerous.

Russian athletes set to go to New York for Olympic Games
"Although we understand Germany's concern, we think that Greece may perhaps have chosen to set the Olympic Games in New York for the specific purpose of bringing the nations together and healing the wounds caused by the viscious exchange of words between the United States and several of the european nations recently." said the head of the Russian IOC branch, Piotr Smirnoff.
Russia will be sending athletes to compete in all the branches.

Top News: Civil War In Germany! Berlin Stock Market Crashes, Communist Rebellions Break Out Nation-Wide!
Maximillian Daniels for the Chicago Tribune, Berlin

Today, Dec. 14 1935, the Berlin Stock Market dropped over 500 points with the destruction of almost all Berlin gas stations by the terrorist group, Rotes Jihad, in the German African colony.

The Reichsmark, recently introduced on near parity with the Franc, has already inflated 20%.

In the wake of this huge monstrosity, oil prices in Germany have skyrocketed. The whole amount was planned to be rebought from Iran, however, before the government could take any action the Deutsche Kommunistische Partei (DKP) staged massive revolts in Prussia, Bavaria and Silesia.

What caused such an uncanny rip from Germany's traditionally conservative ways? It is believed, by both myself and by and large the world populace, that hardly any German family is prepared to face the inflation and economic crisis of 1923. The DKP, which was rumored to have been supported by the Islamic factions of Iran, now stands strong with an army nearly the size of Weimar Germany.

Chancellor von Hotzendorf, whom has only been Chancellor for 5 months now, is reportedly safe but will not leave Berlin.

"Democracy makes its stand here," he said. "Germany is the battlefield of a falsified utopia and a realistic representational government. Myself, my generals and my army shall fight to the last breath of the last man; we will not surrender."

This has seemed to show Germany's mercurial ways. After the failure of the Olympic embargo of New York the German Olympic team was said to have already left by blimp for New York.

The leader of the DKP, Lukas Getschreibben, has not only fought alongside his up-to-date army which had been training underground for over a year, but also the German Socialist Party leader, Rainart Heidelsdt. With this, virtually the whole liberal left-wing in Germany has taken up arms with the Republic.

What is to be the outcome of this Civil War? I cannot say; the sides are too evenly matched, too reputed, too determined. However, I can say this: whoever's side loses will suffer a huge loss.

2. Wait for world decision to see what should be done.

3. Remain Neutral and stay out of the conflict.

Nicolay Alexandrovich Romanov

"Oh no, oh no, oh no. This can't be happening! Our new-born alliance is being put to the test far too quickly! But we shall prove ourselves worthy of their friendship..."
Romanov paced the war room fretfully and nervously. He needed to hear a response from von Hotzendorf, needed to hear that he was safe and holding his ground. The message had been sent by the private channel, but even secure channels were not always air-tight. What if the communists overheard the transmissions? What if they stopped them entirely? What if, what if...
Bicolay knew there could be no slip-ups. Having a volatile communist state as their next-door neighbour was just not an option. He had to hope the world would join him in fighting down the menace. The fragile peace of the post-war world hung in the balance yet again...

IRANIAN PROGRESSIVE PARTY LOSES PARLIAMENT

Prime minister Farid al-Qafar was released from the hospital last week into what can only be called the worst crisis of his time. With public confidence shaken by the nearly successful assassination attempt on the prime minister and eroded by the government's hushed cover-up of the attempt's details, the IPP's popularity was at an all-time low, and voters showed their disapproval, voting a record-setting number of seats to the more radical Islamic Unity Party, with minority and special-interest parties gaining seats as well. The prime minister's government remains in power only by the narrowest of margins, although there are rumors that the Islamic Unity Party may call for a vote of no confidence to oust the prime minister. The IUP quickly took advantage of its advantage, pushing through a flurry of legislation for increased military spending and fighting for increased terms of military service. "The peace of the capitalist imperials has failed," Mustafa Qaman, leader of the IUP proclaimed. "It is in war that the fates of our people must be decided, and we must fight with strength and courage to ensure that that fate is a glorious one!"

I am incredibly thankful that so many powers have offered their support to my government in its darkest hour. The sacrifice of theirs shall not go unrewarded and we will work, fight, and pray side by side with our friends in France, Russia, Italy and Sweden.

At the same time, I would like to thank America, for finally revealing to the world her true colors as an isolationist and vengeful nation. It would appear it was quite logical for us to boycott them, as they have made themselves shown as the appitamy of selfishness. Democracy was born in America, and I fear it may die here, in America, or in both.

The DKP has reportedly seated its capital at Konigsberg on the Vistula river. So far they have control over the major German cities Maderburg, Leipzig, Dresden, Munich, Gdansk, Warsaw, Prague, Krakow and Teschen. This has also cut of the German border with her allies in Russia, and I ask that she drive all along the front to quickly rejoin our borders.

Orders: Defend coast.

etc

I will also include the amount of gold you get that week on the Sat/Sun ones.

GERMANY ON THE OFFENSIVE

The Communist rebels in Bavaria came under fierce attack today from two huge Panzer corps raised from the passionate people of Berlin, who want their republic to endure.

The outcome of the battle is unknown as yet, but should be revealed soon(OOC- ie; tomorrow!).

SPAIN DEMANDS JAPANESE WITHDRAWL

Spain demanded the withdrawal of Japanese units from Spanish territory and waters today, and demanded an end to the blockade.

The argument is over the Pacific pirates, who seem to be operating out of bases in Spanish territory.

SAS UNCOVER SECRET BASE

The British SAS today discovered a remote pirate's haven on the Australian coast. Sources say that it seems to be the base that the Pacific pirates have been operating out of.

The SAS commander said that the base had been hard to find due to its remote location, and said stumbling upon it was "pure dumb luck".

SOUTH AFRICA BUILDS UP, BUT WHAT IS THEIR MOTIVE?

The kingdom of South Africa's army is expanding at an alarming rate, according to sources. Figures point to South Africa having nearly 20 tank regiments and 20 infantry regiments under arms, not to mention "significant" air assets and a powerful fleet.

But what is this build-up in aid of? Is it really for defence as the South African government say, or is it for some other, more sinister, purpose?

PRESIDENT DON DAZE II RESIGNS

President Don Daze II resigned due to ill health today, after a series of illnesses has kept him from doing his job as leader of Spain.

He said that it "isn't fair upon the people, having a leader who's never well".

He will be sadly missed by his people.

His Vice President now takes control of Spain, and immediately begins the build-up of Spain's military, which under Don Daze II was "weaker than a village militia!" according to him.

TRINITY ALLIANCE FORMED

Spain, Greece and Egypt have signed an alliance that will guarantee them security. Each nation has two carrier battlegroups, which makes this alliance a potent naval power. Also, the alliance is strong in the air, and quite strong on land. The three nations have made it clear that they are peaceful, and this alliance is to guarantee their security. The Trinity Alliance is likely to back Spain in a war against Japan should it ever come to that, although fighting a war against a nation half the world away is unwanted by all.

ISLAMIC UNITY PARTY TAKES CONTROL IN COUP

A glorious uprising has occured in our great nation, throwing out the spineless diplomats imposed upon us by the West and rightfully returning power to the true masters of our people under new President Mustafa Qaman, supported by the righteous soldiers of Islam. Rejoice, people of Iran and of the greater nations of Islam, for you are finally free to live in true accord with the words of the Prophet, delivered from the sins of barbarian foreign culture! Farid al-Qafar, the treacherous cur who sought to lead Iran to ruin in the hands of the foreign imperialists, fled over the Chinese border to seek asylum like a cowardly dog, and the few foolish misguided soldiers loyal to him quickly surrendered and have learned the errors of their ways.

Russia deeply involved in Germany, Duma unable to decide on course of action with regards to Swedish South America
With several Russian armies still involved in the German civil war, many in the Duma are reluctant to act. They also point to the fact that Russia has no troops in the area, so any aid to one side or the other would be token only.
The other side, the Hawks of the Duma, currently an extremely volatile minority, say that this is an excellent chance to pay Sweden back for the Greek debacle.
The current government policy is one of non-intervention, not due to lack of interest, but due to lack of resources at this most inopportune time.

Conrad von Hotzendorf remained in Berlin. Outside him, his beloved city smoked and burned. The troops from Mardenburg had made good on their intent; a siege of Berlin had begun.

The Chancellor still refused to leave. He continued on about how democracy and socialism made a final duel in Berlin and that democracy would, as it always had, win. Right would win over left, freedom over oppression, and it would always be that way.

He reached up to the podium in the Reichstag. By decree, the whole body had been ordered to remain in Berlin and, all but the leftists and socialists remained.

"Germany lies on her darkest hours since 1919. Berlin is slowly being encircled, and we alone do not have the troops to keep it. If Bavaria is successfully taken, we will move the capital to Munich should Russian paratroops not be enough to save our city."

As he finished, a shell crashed into a building less than a block away from the Reichstag.

"The situation calls for an immediate evacuation of all the wives and children of Reichstag representatives from Berlin. We must think safety now, and not valor."

More shells and gunfire resumed.

"It is so sad to see the works of Englebert and Hindenburg go to shreds in such a fashion. Unless more, immediate help comes, Weimar Germany eventually and Berlin immediately will surely fall to the Deutsche Kommunistische Partei forces of General Lukas Getschreibben. But, if there is any man in this building that is not willing to die for it, I ask him to leave now."

Not one man left the building.

"Then may god bless you, your children and your childrens children. But for now, we must pray, for god must save Germany."

He'd had barely 6 hours sleep since the armed forces began to mobilize for war..

.. It was odd, the world seemed to be collasping in on it's self, Iran's new Islamic government, the German Civil War, and now the Swedish South America debacle..

But it was all necessary, after all citizens being killed would not be tolerated, but he was begining to wonder, when this madness would stop.

South Africa calls off any invasion of French territory, their movements were only "maneuveres".

Now they send more reinforcements to Swedish South America, knowing that with the whole American Alliance against it, their ally is going to need all the help they can get.

They also send one fleet to protect their troops, and one fleet to help the Swedish break through any attempt to stop them reaching South America.

The Trinity Alliance remains neutral, but warns the American Alliance that it will not see defenceless transports fired upon.

Right, I just want everyone to know that war isn't an instant process. Each combat report is just one round of fighting(one dice roll per unit). That means it will take a few combat resolutions(each Wednesday and Sunday) to completely destroy an enemy unless you are lucky.

But you do gain ground if you force an enemy to retreat a bit by causing losses, and that ground gives you extra gold and takes it away from them.

I estimate Argentina in total to be worth 25 gold of Sweden's total 100 gold per turn.

HEADLINES

SOUTH AMERICA ENGULFED IN WAR

The American Alliance today launched a huge assault on Swedish South America. The South Africans supported the Swedes, and the 2nd South African Army dug in alongside the Swedish 3rd Army. Only the battered remains of the 3rd Swedish Army now remains, with the South Africans completely destroyed.

In a bold move, the 1st South African Army and the 2nd Swedish Army crossed the border, driving deep into Brazil. They were stopped only by the 2nd United States Army and Brazil's 3rd Army. These two armies drove the invaders back, but were ultimately completely destroyed. However, they inflicted massive damage upon the invaders.

THE WAR AT SEA

All transports made it through due to the brave sacrifice of their escorts. The 5th and 6th South African Fleets blasted a way through the 1st and 2nd Canadian Fleets, and Brazil's 6th Fleet, their superior firepower forcing the allies back. Heavy damage was taken by both sides, but the South Africans held to get the transports to safety.

The 4th United States Fleet was in the area, but looking for Swedish ships, not South African ones, and so the South Africans were able to slip through their fingers. The mighty 4th would certainly have finished off the South Africans.

In the north, the air groups of the Brazil, United States and Swedish navies clashed, with both sides losing aircraft. The ships clashed in a huge show of power, with neither gaining the advantage. The Swedish transports ran the gauntlet while the ships and aircraft kept the enemy occupied, and managed to deploy their cargoes.

THE AIR WAR

In Swedish South America, only one squadron, the South African 3rd Squadron, provided air cover for the land forces. They were decimated after being outnumbered about 3 to 1.

Casualties will now be PMed to all of you.

The land taken by Brazil, when countered with small slice taken by Sweden, gives Brazil an extra 10 gold per turn, and takes away from Sweden 10 gold per turn.

THE WAR IN GERMANY

16 Panzer regiments crushed 8 infantry regiments, and the huge allied force crushed the attack of 10 armoured regiments upon Berlin.

The Communists have been defeated, except for five infantry regiments believed to be hiding out near the Swedish border.

Martin Yenkovich poked his head out form the hatch of the tank, and looked at the burrning ruins of what had been a town to his left, peered over at a fruit farm straight ahead. All around, the flat, lush greens, yellows and browns of crops growing spread towards the horizon. Behind him, like a huge dustcloud on the broad dirt road, stretched the marching coloumns of the infantry divisions of Russias 1st army.

The remains of the 1st Russian army's tank divisions, of which his "Naina" had been a part, trundled along at the head of the coloumn, through countryside familiar to him. He had been here before, in the last war. Only then, he had been fighting for the communists. Now many of his comrades had laid down their lives to defeat them. How strange life could be sometimes.

But politics and diplomacy were not his concern. His crew were his concern. His comrades in arms were his concern. And he was pleased that once again he had pulled them through without casualties, one of the few tanks that did.
Martin was not devout christian. But at times like this, the only sensible thing to do seemed to be thanking God for his good luck.

So, for the first time in more years than Martin Yenkovich cared to remember, he prayed.

Nicolay stood with his entourage at the foot of the gangway to his personal zeppelin. A place in Tempelhof airport had been hastily cleared for the Premiers personal transport. All around him, he saw the destruction caused by the misguided ideologies of the rebels. Still, fires burned, still gunfire and explosions could be heard in the distance. Government troops clearing out the last of the rebels.

Romanov noticed with a wry smile the red carpet on the ground in front of him, and the slightly hap-hazard honour guard that stood there waiting for him. His own paratroops. The 9th special. They had done well, but the had been hurt badly. Only half were left, many of them had been lightly wounded or mentally scarred for life. Paratroopers were tough, but the last stand in Berlin could not have been easy for anyone. He walked along, careful to stop and talk to each and every one of them. Words of encouragement. Praise. He needed to make them feel appreciated, special. That was the way to secure a soldier's loyalty. Notice him. Treat him like more than a statistic, more than cannon-fodder. Or at least make him feel that way.

The German liason tapped him on the shoulder when he was finished.
"This way, sir. We have an armored car ready to take you to the Reichstag. I'm sorry it's not more, ehm, fitting, but in these times..."
"I understand fully. You can take me to the Reichstag presently. The Chancellor and I have much to talk about. But first, take me to the infirmary."
"Sir, I don't know if..."
"Please."

NEWS FROM BRITAIN

"BRITAIN WILL NOT INTERFERE IN GERMANY, BUT WILL AID SWEDEN" - PRESIDENT HJALMAR MITCHELL

Pres. Mitchell declared today that Britain will not aid Germany against the Communist Rebellion. Mitchell said that the Communist Rebellion is proof of the German people's dissatisfaction at the present Democratic Governement. Mitchell said, that, although Britain does not support the concept of Communism, the RGB has not right to judge the political beliefs of other nations.

On the other hand, Britain WILL support Sweden, but only diplomatically for the time being. Mitchell said that the RGB Defence Force (RGBDF) will be concidering an all out attack on the AA, but he cannot comment on whether this will happen for sure.

PRESIDENT MITCHELL CRITISIZES AMERICAN ALLIANCE

In a heated press conference today in London, President Hjalmar Mitchell said that Britain does not on any level support the American Alliance. He said that the alliance has made itself guilty of terrorism in acting so agressively towards Sweden.

"Furthermore, Britain wishes to pledge it's support for Sweden in the South American War. The AA has no right to "annex" South American Argentina. I am infuriarated by the actions of especially America!"

The president said that Britain will empose an all out trade embargo against the nations of the AA.

POUND REACHES 6 MONTH HIGH

Despite Pres. Mitchell's recent criticism of America, the British economy has shown surprising good performance, proving that Britain is still the most influential economic power in Europe. The pound traded at a 6 month high against the Ruble, Dollar and Franc. Against the Geman Mark, the pound has reach an al time record high, mostly because of the political crisis in Germany. The exchange rates on Friday, 7 June 1935 was as follows:

1 Pound = $1, 56 (Previous week $1, 34)
1 Pound = Russian Ruble 1, 22 (Prev. week 1, 12)
1 Pound = French Franc 2, 33 (Prev. week 2, 07)
1 Pound = German Mark 3, 98 (Prev. week 3, 67)
1 Pound = International Gold Currency 298, 00 (Prev. week 324,00)

BRITISH ECONOMY ON A ROLL

Britons had reason to celebrate recently as announcements from the Treasury Department proves that the Economy is on the roll. GDP growth has increased to 4,2%. A massive 2% higher than 6 months ago. The Pound has strengthened against most currency's , whilst the price of gold and oil have decreased. This is largely the result of possitive centiment towards Britain, as investors flock to the relative stability of the Isle amid the crisis in Continental Europe, Southern Africa and The Americas.

TRINITY ALLIANCE CONDEMNS AMERICAN ALLIANCE "AGGRESSION"

Prince Alexander, son of Greece's constitutional monarch, King Phillip II, was today elected Commanding General of the Trinity Alliance. He has proven himself to be like his father, who won successive battles in the Hundred Years War. The post gives him authority over all of the Trinity Alliance's military, but can only go to war if all three leaders agree. [OOC - Anyone who takes over a Trinity Alliance country can either pull out of the pact, or have me acting as the leader of the other two nations, but they will not be able to control all three nation's militaries.]

Upon his election, Prince Alexander had this to say:

"The Trinity Alliance condemns the action taken by the American Alliance. We are currently considering military action."

PIRATES DISAPPEAR FROM THE PACIFIC

The Pirates of the Pacific have been destroyed it would seem. Either by the British SAS uncovering their base of operations, or the Trinity Alliance increasing their naval presence in the Pacific. Whichever one caused it, the pirates it would seem have gone.

POSSIBLE BRITISH ACTION IN SOUTH AMERICA

The British President revealed that Britain may support the Swedes in the war in South America. Sources say that the Falkland Islands may possibly be given to Britain in return for military aid. The President refused to comment on such a deal.

RULE CHANGES TO THE GAME

From now on you can enact a trade embargo upon an enemy. This makes you both lose 5 gold per week. This means that you can gang up on an enemy if you don't want to go to war with them. 15 nations of the world ganging up on the other one would end up the nation only getting 25 gold per week(15*5=75 100-75=25) while everyone else got 95 gold per week!

Trade embargoes must be announced by PM to me. Also, you have to announce one when you are at war, or trade will continue as normal despite hostilities.

MAJOR RULE CHANGE TO COMBAT

I found when resolving combat that it is often difficult to decide whether a unit is using it's attack or defence value. Therefore I am planning just one value per unit. I promise you it will be fair, and costs will remain the same. It will be posted later tonight for everyone to see.

Also the first page will be updated tonight.

Second "gracious ally" this is not Imperalisim, the annexation of Swedish South America is necessary to stop any and all terrorist actions agianst Brazil.

Third and probably most importantly, the AA is winning this war, South Africa's forces have been all but decimated and the Swedish Army is down to it's last few regiments. If you do join agianst us, You will be facing all out war agianst Three nations (and possibly a fourth should the time come)

FROM: RGB

Friends, we immediately need to form an alliance to resist the imperialism of the American Alliance. I propose that all European nations, no matter your financial position to sign the document beneath. It will form the EA - The European Alliance. My wish is that a mighty European Alliance will bring back balance to the International Arena. Nations who already belong to Alliances, you can also join and do not need to give up your position in another alliance.

I know that Russia has already tried to forge a similar alliance. I hope that the nations involved with that will join this alliance.

Proposed European Alliance:

A rotating presidency, starting with Russia as First President. Presidency will change every to years (i.e. two weeks).

An attack on or by any Alliance member will be viewed as an attack on or by all Alliance members. Members must assist other members in their wars - however you may only assist diplomaticly (i.e. trade embargo's or official repriamands towards opposing nations) and you DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO WAR IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO.

Furthermore: Alliance members must support each other in case of Civil War, Uprisings of Financial Crisis. In other words, you may not support a rebel group in case of a coup, you have to support the original governemt.

Please, mail me (not PM, in thread) if you want to join;

My apologies if i no longer surgar coat the situation, but the fact is, all the evidence POINTS to Sweden, as we've said before in the past, it doesn't matter if they've said "We had nothing to do with it" The fact is, weapons are coming from Swedish South America and it must be stopped, Sweden failed to take swift action, so were doing it for them.

And to Britian..

Do not try to lecture us on how the AA is Imperalising the world..

This is a measure to stop the Terrorists attacking Brazillian and Panamanian citizens.

As for Imperalisim, how do you think Britian recieved 90% of her colonies? Asking nicely? The fact is, Britian was founded on the basis of occupation, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, all these nations had former governments before yours came and disposed of it.

I am sick of your whining.

Either declare war or stop making threats. But the simple truth is, we are not occupying Swedish South America, we are expelling the Terrorists, stopping the flow of weapons and then seeing what the people of Swedish South America feel what they want in the Future, to remain with the AA, become an independent nation, or join with Sweden.

But your right, Britian will not be fighting alone, they'll simply be fighting a losing battle.

TRINITY ALLIANCE COMMANDING GENERAL VISITS FEUDING NATIONS

Prince Alexander of Greece, Commanding General of the Armed Forces of the Trinity Alliance(AFTA) will stop in London for a one day visit to meet President Mitchell of Britain. He hopes the President of Sweden will also be there to meet him. Then he will cross the Atlantic to Washington, where he hopes to meet all the leaders of the American Alliance. He hopes some kind of deal can be sorted, and warns:

"If the American Alliance thinks it will push the Europeans totally from South America, it is wrong. The Trinity Alliance will not sit back and let Europeans living in the Falkland Islands and Swedish South America be ruled by a foreign and anti-European country.

"My words are backed up with force. All six carrier battlegroups of the AFTA are on their way to the South Atlantic, along with their 30 wings of aircraft. The Egyptian Rapid Response Unit and over 30 regiments of infantry are on transports ready to deploy.

"So I give this warning to the American Alliance. Halt with what you have at the moment, or be destroyed."

Sweden has 90 gold to spend, Brazil has 110. Everyone else has 100 gold, as I haven't had any PMs concerning embargoes(I know they've been mentioned on here, but they have to be PMed to me).

The new combat system has been scrapped, as I've figured out an easier way of deciding whether a unit is attacking or defending, meaning that the old combat system can continue.

Civil war almost at an end: Hotzendorf prepares for "Final Push"
In Berlin today, a parade was held, not only for the removal of the rebels, but for the commemoration of the Weimar Republic's 18th birthday.

With the rebels gone from all German territory except the province of Helvetia, several of the DKP forces have merely laid down their arms as opposed to fighting. Chancellor Hotzendorf today made a plea for the remaining fighters to do the same and realize that their cause cannot be won.

The IX Army Corps and the X Army Corps, specifically raised for defeating the rebels, will be used in Helvetia to put an end to any resistance that may be left.

Germany Joins Great Britain and Russia in AA embargo

With the recent developments in South America over the Swedish colony, Germany has declared a full embargo of the American Alliance not only because of the atrocities reported against Swedish colonists but also because of Persident Cain's personal attack on the European peoples.

"Were we at full strength it would absolutely be war," Chancellor Hotzendorf reported in a Today interview--a morning news show in America. "We do not wish to do battle with the American people and can only hope they'll respect Sweden as a just and sovreign nation. We can't allow the poor bastards to go down the crapper like this, can we?"

The embargo is meant to take place immediately. The Chancellor has also called on his newfound friends in France to do the same in hoping to force the AA to lay down its arms before military action is taken.

1. Swedish South America will choose which nation it wants to rule by referendum.

Also, he warns that there is no need for referendums, as it was these that drew the borders at the end of the 100 Years War.

And he dislikes the tone that the American Alliance uses against European countries, as if they are the masters of the world.

He says:

"Maybe they should get off their high horses and realise they have more chance of being beamed up by Scotty than getting an invasion force into Europe, as it would have to go through the huge naval force of the Trinity Alliance! I find their speeches laughable, and their threats empty. But I must be willing to forget this. Also, I propose if Moscow cannot be seen as a fair meeting place for the League of Nations, then I propose the small island of Ibiza to become an independent nation defended by the Trinity Alliance that can be the HQ of the League of Nations. All Ibiza's citizens(all 78 of them as tourism hasn't really taken off yet) will be moved to their bigger neighbour, Majorca where they will be moved into luxury apartments."

Also, President Shaka of South Africa had this to say:

I propose that 5 regiments of infantry are sent from every nation that joins the League of Nations to guard Ibiza. This force can also act as the League of Nations peacekeepers. With 16 nations making up the world, that would be 80 regiments of infantry, a deadly force. Also perhaps each nation providing two fighter wings and one bomber wing, creating an air force of 8 bomber wings and 16 fighter wings. These forces would add up to 100 gold per nation, and make the League a force to be reckoned with, not ignored. This is only an idea, no one actually has to go along with it if they don't want, or just provide the infantry."

NEW YORK POST - LATE EDITION

PRESIDENT CAIN IMPEACHED BY HOUSE, SENATE VOTES TONIGHT!

Washington, DC - President James Cain was impeached by the House of Representatives today by a vote of 401 to 125. The Senate will next hear the case and vote on his conviction tonight. If it is affirmative, and it appears it will be, President Cain will be the first U.S. President removed from power.

The rise and fall of the Cain presidency can be traced to one event - the Swedish War. The speechs of the President raised resentment in nearly every governemnt and nation in Europe. The entry of this nation into war with Sweden brought a surge of popularity to the President...until the casualty figures were reported. Hundreds of thousands of Americans died in the South American jungle, as many as 300,000, though this number has not been confirmed. When the President tried to conceal these figures from both the public and Congress, he had sealed his own fate. The nations of Europe all lined up against him, and the nation was wracked with riots unprecedented in its' history. His party, the most amazing success story in American politics, evaporated overnight. His vice president, Henry Jackson, has abandoned him. The felony charges, including perjury and obstruction of justice were handed down just three days ago, and now President James Cain, a man who seemed to havethe world in the palm of his hand, is about to be history.

Radio Address, June 19, 1938, 11:38 pm

Gentlemen, the United States wishes for peace, and has a proposal which might be acceptable to all parties involved.

1. A plebiscite is to be held in all of Swedish South America to determine what course that land wants to take - either independence, reunion with Sweden, or admission into any of the other American states. This plebiscite will be guaranteed fair by representatives of the League of Nations.

2. At the terms of the cease fire, all troops will withdraw to pre-war borders and observe a 20 mile demilitarized zonenorth and south of the line. This too will be guaranteed by League of Nations inspectors, or representatives of the EA and AA.

3. Once the plebiscite is held, any action by any nation to alter the result, by coercion or force, will be regarded as an international act of aggression.

The new Administration wishes only for a just peace to end this unjust war. Let the people in question decide, freely and fairly.

Dare I remind you that you, just as Britain, Germany, and I, have crushed movements that have committed heinous acts towards you in the misguided belief that this will bring about independence?

I never, EVER said that there weren't people who weren't unhappy about being ruled by me, as you see. All I said was that, as Greece pointed out, the world nations were formed by referendum in the first place! Hence, one nation who has absolutely no right to have any opinions about another nations citizens should not, nay, cannot assume a holier than-though attitude and say stupid, pompous, and self-defeating things like
"I think Russia should give up Latvia", or
"The English colonies must surely yearn to be free", or
"There should be an Eskimo/Spanish/Indian/Carribean/What have you? free nation"
It's an incredibly clear-cut case of the pot calling the kettle black, and if certain of the illustrious heads of state around the world did not have the faculties to understand the irony when I, who heads the largest connected country in the world, based purely on the conquest of my peoples' tsarist forefathers, started yelling about other people giving up bits and pieces of themselves, then I'm sorry. In future, I shall try and express myself in monosyllabic words only.

As for representation, I am hurt that such senseless, badly researched, and completely unfounded claims as: "You have no non-russians in your parliament!", could come from what tries to pass as a sound government. The Duma is composed of representation according to population, so of course there are more Russians than there are other ethnic groups in the Duma. There are more Russians! But in any case, this is a silly argument. The people in almost all of the territories you listed, have lived under the rule of Moscow for over a hundred years at least! They are all people of Russia, regardless of ethnicity! My homeland was one of the few whose borders changed very little after the hundred-years war settlement. The people in these areas have had countless opportunities to rebel and leave, as my nation has been wracked by internal strife countless times, and has endured several different types of government, some worse than others. I assure you, the people of these ethnic groups have never been better off than under the democracy. Many of these would not survive as free nations anyway, simply for lack of resources in their heartland, rivalling tribes, etc! We brought peace and order to a fractured asian steppe, and we have no wish to see our work undone by the whimsy of other nations, as I'm sure the other nations do not wish to see themselves undone by people like me.

Yours, hurt and bewildered
Premier Romanov

To those who wish for a peaceful forum for discussion and solution between the world's nations
It seems as though the people of the world have lost faith in Russia, the gentle giant, who has not once since the end of the hundred-years war waged war on a sovereign state, and do not wish to see a Sovereign League of Nations territory within my lands. Although this saddens me greatly, I understand it. I may have stepped on many toes by coming with the criticism I came with, and therefore I see I must step down. Russia will give up land for the League if the rest of the world will allow us, but if not, I will give my whole-hearted support to the Greek suggestions, both the one about placing the HQ on Ibiza, and the one about a peace-keeping force. If everyone else votes aye, I will immediately set aside 450,000 rubles (50 gold) in this years' budget for the purpose, and will follow up the next two years with the remaining 450,000, in two installments of 225,00 each.

Humbly and regretfully yours

From: Great Britain

RGB wishes to make it perfectly clear: We will not call back our various fleets, armies and squadrons on their way to the Americas until all forces withdraw immediately from ALL occupied areas in Swedish Argentina.

Furthermore, Britain will only allow a referendum to be conducted by RUSSIA, the decision to be made public also by Russia. We do not think that the Trinity Alliance is totally impartial.

ONLY once these terms have been met will Britain call of the Attack on America.

To: Nations of the World

Britain wishes to repeat her pledge of support for Russia to be the host of the League of Nations. We do not support the idea of forming an independent nation in previously owned Trinity Alliance areas. Britain's joining of the Alliance will greatly be determined by where the LoN is situated.

Furthermore, Britain wishes to make it clear that, any nation in the future openly discussing private domestic matters, or any nation openly talking about occupying Britain or her allies, will face an immediate embargo and possible military action. This IS a direct reference to Canada's untactful insult towards Britain.

To: America

RGB welcomes you in peace, as long as you quickly show signs that you are really serious. This means that you need to openly declare a withdrawel from Swedish Argentina to avoid a military invasion by Britain.

I do hope that you will accept this as a stern, yet friendly offer for conditional peace. I also hope that you will be more tactfull than the previous American Administration and that you will not, like Canada, insult Britain or meddle in our domestic affairs.

Please, let us reach a peace agreement. This however, can only be done once you have COMPLETELY withdrawn from Swedish territories. I agree on the other terms of your proposal for peace. I therefore think we might soon be allies again.

To: SWEDEN

Good friend! We are winning the struggle. Soon Argentina will be liberated again. I want to pledge my support that Argentina should be governed by SWEDEN, not by foreign or "independent (i.e. incabable) forces". Argentina is a ligitimate part of Sweden and, until ALL the worlds colonies are freed, there is NO reason for you to give up land that rightfully belongs to you.

If all goes well, I envite you to join me and the First Lady for a private dinner on the RAS Constantia in two days. Hope to see you there. We might discuss future cooperation between our two great nations.

We would like to see the American Alliance continue, because it could indeed bring peace to this hemisphere, as its' charter suggests. I believe also it could be the beginning of something greater, that once free trade is allowed up and down this continent, that we may one day elect an American Senate, composed of Americans from all over the hemisphere, to decide public policy, and ensure peace is never robbed from us again. For these reasons, I propose we keep the AA in place, or sign a new series of treaties if this wouldbe more acceptable to put the AA in the past. In any case, I look forward to hearing from you.

Russia does, as previously stated, NOT support the idea of a plebiscite in the holdings of a single country, particularly not when the holdings are as great as Swedish South America. If such a plebescite were to happen, all nations in the world would have to hold one in an area of similar value, or else their high words amount to naught! I, for one, am not overly willing to run the risk of my provinces leaving, and I don't think anyone else is either.
This does, however, NOT mean I support any further acts of war either by the Swedes or the AA. This conflict is over, and should be solved at the negotiating table, not on the battlefield!
Sweden can count on diplomatic support only. If he wishes to continue, he continues alone. If, however, the AA persists in demanding his relinquishment of control without holding similar sentiments about their own areas, I will have to rethink my stance in the matter.

Dispatch from the government of Conrad von Hotzendorf

I am completely AGAINST this idea. It saps our countries of money and creates an international 'peacekeeping' force that we really don't need. In hard times like this, Germany not only cannot afford to put her money into the LoN, but will not.

If people want an international organization make it an unarmed one. Their job should be to resolve conflicts and not end them with force. It should be a negotiating table, not a war room.

Not only that, but it discourages any kind of war. We've barely had any, and everyone refuses to let the Argentine war escalate. Let 'em have at it! Why not now? If you're interested in saving face, I'd like it more if there were someone out there who actually WASN'T condemning Sweden and Great Britain.

The LoN should be completely trashed as a military organization. We cannot go so far as to make peace with force. Also, for game reasons, it would make it even more bland. We need war once in a while, why try and prevent it so much?

Russia has rethought it's stance in the LoN case. We do not wish any power setting themselves up as the armed arbiters of the world, as we have expressed earlier in relation to other situations. Therefore, we would love to see an LoN that can mediate, but we do not wish to see one that has the power to declare that one nation is the "good guy" and the other the "bad guy" in a conflict.
Besides, imagine what may happen if someone usurps control. Russia has decided to no longer provide monetary support for an armed LoN.

South Africa was nearly obliterated in the last war, so if anyone's looking for some fresh land, they're weak!

Prince Alexander looked grim as he stepped up to the podium.

"Peace is being declared by many sides, but the Swedish refuse to budge. I can understand their anger, but war for them is not the answer. They were routed in Swedish South America at the beginning of the war, and can never really have the strength again to oppose the American Alliance. The treaty from Brazil of all lands returned to normal seems fair to me, but Sweden doesn't accept it.

"If the war continues, as the Swedish no longer have the strength, it will be Sweden's allies whose troops are fighting this war! Why is the answer left to Sweden if they have hardly any strength left to fight the war? It isn't their troops that will die in the war if it continues, that's why Sweden wants to continue it!

"I say we no longer give Sweden a choice, they either accept the American Alliance's fair deal of all lands returned to normal, or face their allies withdrawing from the war. That means the TA will no longer back them.

"I hope all of their allies reconsider their stance, as their demand for Brazillian territory was staggering! They have no strength to hold their own territory let alone take more, yet that is what they intend to do with the blood of their allies!

"May the world join me in condemning Sweden!"

MAJOR RULE CHANGE

To make war more frequent, as it is boring without it, I introduce the SKIRMISH concept.

You can order your troops to skirmish along the border, which can result in hightened tensions but not war, as it is a "misunderstanding". Skirmishes don't activate alliances, and are usually not that costly.

To reflect this, the fight is only one round of combat per defender(in comparison to 1 round per attacker normally). A draw, which is usually lethal in normal combat, is just that, a draw between those troops. This will hopefully make skirmishes less costly.

Winning a skirmish can give you a bit of land, not as much as a war though.

Prince Alexander glanced around the room, daring someone to disagree with him.

"The war must be brought to an end." agreed Juan Carlos, President of Spain.

"Yes, it must. Skirmishes occur all the time, but all out war is a most devastating event." President of Greece, Justin Daniels spoke.

"I think we shouldn't intervene in this war." President Marc Anthony of Egypt was the one to disagree with the Prince.

"But Sweden must be taught that when peace is offered on reasonable terms, it must be accepted!"

"I will not sign the authorisation for war, but you may begin a skirmish if you must." Marc spoke firmly.

"I have an idea that may bring Sweden to her knees, and force her to accept peace." Alexander grinned.

He glanced at his troop deployments. Each nation in the Alliance contributed troops to a regular AFTA army, and would donate extra in a crisis. Even at full mobilisation, the arrangement left enough troops at home for each nation to be able to defend themselves. As was traditional, while he had tabs on every person so he would know which nation to send the letters of condolences to, the men in AFTA only wore AFTA uniforms, no insignia denoting what nation in the Trinity Alliance they were from.

REGULAR AFTA TROOPS(donated by Trinity Alliance Nations)

3 tank regiments
5 infantry regiments
5 parachute regiments
5 transport wings
3 ground-based fighter wings
2 ground-based bomber wings

3 aircraft carriers
9 carrier-based fighter wings
6 carrier-based bomber wings
9 tank regiments
15 infantry regiments
9 fighter wings
6 bomber wings

He sighed, knowing that some of these men would die in the fight.

Sweden had three months(OOC - by Wed.'s orders) to declare peace in South America, and return to the pre-war lines, or face the full mobilised might of AFTA.

He knew it was a gamble, but he hoped for a return to the times when it was just skirmishing along borders, not these horrific wars that cost so many men and leave nations defenceless against others.

The Trinity Alliance's close neighbour, South Africa, had been weakened in such a way by supporting Sweden, who hadn't send enough air cover to defend the South African troops, who had to rely on their own air force to defend them. And with South Africa not being a major air-faring nation, their troops had been hit hard from the air.

Now he had plans in his desk for an attack on South Africa, due to it's weakness. He never knew if it would be put into practice or not. He hoped it wouldn't. But if it did, the plan included invading South Africa, splitting it three ways between the Trinity Alliance nations, giving each an extra 25 gold each.

Then Madagascar, south of the French part, would be split between other nations to prevent them attacking the Trinity Alliance in revenge.

He shook his head clear of those thoughts. He didn't want to attack an old ally, not even for money.

Well I have the day off tomorrow, as my last exam is the day after. That means I can post the results tomorrow instead.

I hope there is little combat to resolve, lol, it's time consuming to say the least. But at least the results are accurate.

Everyone remember the new order of skirmishing! You have to give a skirmish order in one of three ways:

Land - you may skirmish against an enemy border in the hope of gaining a bit of land. You may also amphibiously skirmish, and drop parachutists from the air. The last two can be used to set up small beachheads behind enemy lines. But a major skirmish by the enemy may push you back into the sea, and if their navy rules the waves, you may lose the entire army as it has nowhere to retreat to.

Sea - ships may skirmish against each other, as may submarines and naval air wings, like the US/Russia submarine battles during the Cold War.

Air - your pilots may "accidentally" start a bit of a gunfight against another nation's air force.

Sea skirmishes can gain control of the sea in that area, land ones can take land, and air ones can gain air superiority.

Skirmishes DON'T have to be declared, except in the orders. The nation doesn't need to be informed, and while it will show up on the map which nation it was, it will never be revealed in the combat reports.

Skirmishes MAY NOT be declared this Sat/Sun, as I created them after most orders were in. Only from this Wednesday on may skirmish orders be given.

Article from the Berliner Zeitung.
Chancellor von Hotzendorf declares day of reckoning for South Africa; for unjust action in South America, he claims.

By Otto Goshart

"Germany has assembled a great army today to attack the South African savages," he said at the Reichstag. "Because of their illegitimate involvement in South Africa and the consequential hostilities between Europe and America we must resolve this problem."

A huge army, reportedly involved over 5 Kreigsmarine divisions, Army Corps & Air divisions, was assembled to take action against the South Africans (whose forces were largely detroyed in war).

"Not only that, but this nation violently sought world monopoly through the militant LoN. If they are to continue such blatant agression at creating hostility and mistrust between the world, we must solve anything that would cause innapropriate misconduct resulting from their actions."

Foreign minister Ribbentrop reportedly stated that "Germany does not call on her allies for help." The government is confident of success, as the Berliner Zeitung is, against this undemocratic and despotic government.

Ultimate success is expected. Germany now drives deep into South Africa.

President Shaka addressed the world:

"I know I have not been a democratic ruler, holding onto power far longer than I should have, but I can make amends. I supported an ally in need of help in South America, and it wasn't I who suggested the military of the League of Nations, but that warmongering Alexander! Nations of the world, support me please!"

"But isn't Alexander one of the generals that ended the Great War due to his quest for peace? And wasn't he the one who rescued Spanish citizens from their civil war by taking Madrid for the democrats without loss of civilian life?" one reporter asked.

Damn, Shaka thought. Alexander's knight in shining armour routine was showing him up yet again. Didn't people understand the Zulu's natural warrior instinct? Although he had once faced Alexander on the battlefield, and had to admit the younger man had the same instinctive military skill, but not the will to use it in the way a warrior should.

Warriors should conquer! he thought glumly. Alexander has all that power, yet he uses it for peace.

Moron.

**************************************************

"I condemn South Africa's militant ways, and the Trinity Alliance will not support them." Alexander felt cheated. Damned Germans took South Africa first, he thought. I could have created a new colony for the Trinity Alliance, and have made the South Africans better educated, etc.

But the Germans will do well, I'm sure, he thought.

NEWS FROM BRITAIN - important that everyone reads this!!!!

BRITAIN COMES CLEAN ABOUT ARGENTINA

In an emergency press conference in London, Pres. Mitchell came clean about the alleged British involvement in Argentina. He said that it is Britain who is sending troops to support Sweden and that the civilian ships and flags were for protection while the troops were in International Waters.

"Now that our fleets are in Brazilian waters, I might as well tell the world the truth," he said. He then delivered an emotional speech which had this reporter reaching for his Cleenex.

"For months now my allies have been talking about a peace settlement in Argentina. However, this settlement calls for "peace at all costs". Britain has always supported the theory of peace at all costs...but what, my dear allies, if the cost is too great?

How great was the cost of thousands of innoscent Swedish civilians and soldiers who were massacred. How great was the cost suffered by Sweden when their pride and dignity was taken away from them.

Peace at all costs, can become a very expensive bargain. Although we appreciate the attitude of our allies and understand that some of them (France) might even condem and insult us, we cannot change our beliefs. Britain is a nation committed to peace, yes, but also to justice. And the atrocities commited by the Brazilian forces cannot go unpunished. What respect would that show towards the concept of justice, my friends? And when we start ignoring justice, we open the gates to chaos.

These nations belittleing and insulting Britain must reconsider. Your actions may be far worse than ours. I am not a man who supports war, and Britain is not a nation that is trigger happy. We are simply making it our responsibility to deliver justice upon the criminals - Brazil.

Maybe, France, Germany, Russia and the AA should stop critisizing and look at themselves. Arn't you perhaps sacrificing justice at the cost of peace. Then my friends, peace has become too expensive.

I cannot claim to be the leader of a democratic and just nation and then stand by as Brazil gets away with murder. My reconciliation efforts towards America and Canada has proven that I am a forgiving man. But forgiveness can only go so far before it becomes ignorance.

Britain will stand by Sweden, and even if we fight alone, we will rest with the sure knowledge that we are fighting for a noble cause."

Do not confuse this with the Swedish South America invasions, while they should have never occured, there was a reason for declaring war behind it, Terrorists using Swedish weapons and coming from Swedish South America.

I understand your concerns as you too are a democratic nation; however, I can assure that Germany means no ill-will to the world but seeks to eliminate a menace appearant in South Africa.

South Africa has committed crimes to escalate the Agentine crises, and must be punished and the threat must be eliminated; therefore, once South Africa has been defeated (and I am sure it will be immediately), it will become a part of Germany in a state similar to German Indonesia and German West Africa.

We are only taking this course of action to ensure that such things do not happen again. As soon as the situation has resolved we can hammer out our differences.

Germany has for the larger part turned the other cheek on you and your allies' actions in Swedish South America and we now ask you to do the same to ours in South Africa.

However, I am guided by the beliefs of my people and therefore I cannot change my foreign stance towards the S.S.A. crisis. I am saddened that you might think that I am a Communist ruler and can assure you that we have a multi-party Capitilist government. I also hope that the elections that will be held in two months (i.e. this week) will convince you that I am not a tirant. Please, could you postpone your declaration of war till after the election. Then, you may not need to remove me by force, if my people are really unsatisfied with my foreign policy, then they will democratically vote me out. Otherwise, you will see that they infact support me, which I believe is the case. I beg you to reconsider, despite your recent resentments, Britain still has the highest opinion of France and its people and would not wish to got to war.

To: Germany
Britain supports your efforts in South Africa. We would however like to echo the calls by CANADA (who evidently hates our guts) that you should not annex SA as a cologny. We however respect your opion and thank you for subtly supporting Britain's sovereignty concerning the French isssue.

NEWS FROM BRITAIN - British Republican Press/Reuters/AP

BRITAIN SHUDDERS - MITCHELL IN COMA
Britain was shocked today at the news that President Mitchell suffered a severe stroke this morning at his home in Harwich. He has since fallen into a coma.

Vice-president, Herbert Kitchener, has since taken office as acting president, according to the Constitution. "I call on all Britons, and all other nations, to, despite the grievences you might have with Britain, to stand by us in this time of shock. We hope that you will pray for us...", a somewhat bewildered Kitchener said.

ELECTION TO CONTINUE
Despite Pres. Mitchell's stroke, the National Election, scheduled for next week (i.e. tomorrow) is set to continue.

According to British law, a party must have a majority vote (50%+) to govern. If a party gets less than 50% support, it must form an coalition government with another party. Whoever can form the biggest coalition (adding % votes together) will govern.

It is expected that the Federal Alliance who currently governs the country will stay in coalition the way they are. The two parties, teh Federal Party and the Concervative Front, have to split up for the duration of the election however (according to law) so that citizens may vote for a specific party and to see whether one party cannot get clear majority. After the election they can reunite again.

The major British parties (with candidates) are:

1. Federal Alliance (FA) - Concervative:
1.1 Federal Party (FP) - Pres. Hjalmar Mitchell (27% in 1934)
1.2 Concervative Front (CF) - Vice-pres. Kitchener (25% ")

2. Democratic Party (DP) - Liberal (33%):
Governor William Markham

3. National Socialist Party (NSP) - Far Right (13%):
Cecil John Rhodes

4. New Communist Party (NCP) - Communist (2%):
Jo Slovo

There are rumors that the FP might align with the far right NSP to form a new coalition governement - you'd have to wait till Wednesday evening to find out what happened.

WAR IMMINENT - CHURCHILL
Adressing a shocked Parliament today in an emergency session, Foreign Secretary, Winston Churchill announced today that war with France seems imminent. He called on all Britain's allie, especially Russia, China and Japan to try and convince France to step down, especially after president Mitchells stroke.

"We hope to have peace, because the British people need some good news now".

Henry Refuses To Stand Down!
In a shocking announcement today President Phillipe Henry said he would not back down on his declaration of war on Britain, but he did say he would post-pone the attack until after the British elections. Should a new and fair government take control of Britain then the attacks would be post-poned indeffinately.
According to a recent poll among French people, 78% are in favour of war with Britain, these results are said to be due to an increase in the belief of liberty and freedom among French people.

Dear friends (and foes)

I have heard your calls to stop the invasion of Brazil. However, according to the British constitution, only the Executive President (it is president, not PM, America) may declare or end an invasion or war. In the case of the absense of an Executive President, Parliament must vote on such issues.

As it is clear that the world wants to end this war, I will do my best to try and convince Parliament to vote against the invasion. However, my party (CF) only enjoys about 25% support, whilst the Federal Party with whom we share an alliance, has 27% of the vote. It would then be difficult to convince the Federalists to vote against the invasion, as they fully back pres. Mitchell and he has also enjoyed renewd backing by some other parties as well (the National Socialist Party).

I will try my best, but in the end it is up to the British parliament to decide. I thank you for your comforting words in this time of crises.

To: Brazil
As a true Christian as well, my thanks go out to you for your heartfelt words in this time of crisis. I am saddened by the escalating situation in Argentina and wish I could end it right now. But, as I mentioned, it is up to the Parliament, who will convine tomorrow, despite the elections.

Well Britain, your orders for peace will have to wait for tomorrow's orders.

"Good day, world. This is Gillian Fox of CNN." Gillian looked carefully at the camera.

"In our first news of the day, German troops have invaded South Africa. The resistance was powerful from the South African Navy, but once that was eventually overcome, it split the nation's army, as it was divided between Madagascar and the mainland.

"German troops took the mainland after a fierce battle, including the capital. President Shaka fled to Madagascar by plane, where only one South African army and squadron remain to defend him.

"In other news, things heated up in South America today, with huge casualties on both sides. Out of the five carriers involved in naval actions, three lay on the ocean floor. Luckily, the 5th Brazilian Fleet was out of the area, in the Pacific rather than the Atlantic, where all the action was. The fighting began on land with an airborne invasion of North Brazil by British paratroopers, but without enough transports for the number of paratroopers, only one regiment was used. That regiment was massacred easily.

"In the south, an early counter-attack by the Canadian and Brazilian forces defending South America encircled the 2nd Swedish Army and decimated it. Then came the Allied landings, which forced the American allies right back to the pre-war border. There they dug in and held the line, and terrible cost to both sides.

"Rumours say that the Americans are now outnumbered by at the very least 2 to 1 by the Allies, and it is a matter of time before the whole of Brazil falls."

Gillian glanced at her producer, who was holding up a sign.

"Wait, there seems to be some hope for the American Alliance. We cross now to the headquarters of the Trinity Alliance, on the island of Crete."

[Picture changes to one of Prince Alexander standing at a podium]

"I have heard of the dreadful cost suffered by the people of South America by the imperialistic Swedish. That is why I must now do this, to bring an end to this war.

"Sweden, declare peace with your allies NOW, or face your own country being invaded by AFTA forces. Our mobilised force is near Sweden now, and if you continue this war, your country will fall. That is a promise."

[Cuts back to the studio]

"Well, it seems we have a threat against Sweden and her allies. Will they respond with peace? Join us next time on CNN."

BRITAIN, YOU HAVE NO LAND IN NORTHERN BRAZIL! I told you, your forces lost that battle! Sending two paratroopers in with one transport(which means only one could deploy!) meant you lost that battle easily! No way did you gain any land there I'm afraid.

And the border that I showed is the one being held by American Alliance forces, but they are weak, and so it may very well collapse in the next combat phase.

But the Swedish alliance was reclaiming land, it was claimed all for Sweden, even what your troops took. If you'd wanted it to be your colour, you should have said, as I thought you were fighting to help an ally.

Anyway, if you declare what you took back for Sweden as British soil, I will paint it as that in tomorrow night's map.

Our intelligence agencies have tracked rogue former Prime Minister Farid Al-Qafar to Indian soil, where we believe he is orchestrating insurrectionist activities against my rightfully elected party's control. It is vital to the security of Iran that this traitor is returned to us immediately, and we cannot take any risks of allowing him to escape; we have no choice but to authorize an armed incursion into Indian territory. As the northwest has a heavy loyal Muslim population we expect little local resistance and believe we can secure it quickly, provided that the British colonial government does not resist. Given full cooperation we can guarantee that there will be no lasting repercussions and all damages will be paid for by my government, but if British forces resist this action I make no promises.

WAR WITH BRITAIN! PRESIDENT JACKSON DECRIES BRITISH INVASION, SAYS U.S. WILL HONOR ALLIANCES

Washington, DC - President Jackson strongly condemned the British invasion of Brazil today, and followed it up with a declaration or war being approved by Congress.

"Peace was all but assured. But in one motion, all the hard work was undone. The British invasion of Brazil cannot stand. The United Staes will fully support our Brazilian and Canadian allies in their war against Britain. The United States also wishes to recognize France for their declaration of war upon imperialistic Albion."

American troops are again on the move, with factories across the nation ordered to war-time production. The initial forces heading into Brazil to contest the british and Swedish were not disclosed, but the President stated the U.S. would fight in more theaters than just the South American.

"The United States intends to take this war to the British, not the innocent people, but the seats of power and government. The rotten wood must be cleaned out."

Unlike Pres. Mitchell, I am a peace-loving man. I do however see through your lie and know for sure that you only want to cease Indian territory for your own wealth. It is Iranian terrorists who are fuelling the violent Rebellion in India, and therefore actually Britain who should be mad.

However, to keep the good peace, I am allowing you to claim, free, without any skirmish, the area that I have shown in black in the attached map.

We have to talk about what fate lies ahead for the territory after you have settled the terrorist issue. We cannot let you have it permanently, that is for sure, but for the moment, you might administrate it. Britain cannot give land away you now.

I hope this ussue can be resolved peacefully and that Britain and our powerful ally, Japan, would not have to act (we seriously do not want to).

OOC: Granted, I'm not so sure that "terrorism" is quite so appropriate; it seems to me to be more of a modern buzzword. But it's still accurate; the excuse WWI was started on was an assassination, and minor sabotage and small-scale raids have often been used to provoke war (sometimes staged, sometimes not)--the Nazis faked a Polish raid in order to give some semblance of legitmacy to their invasion of Poland. It's a matter of posturing, really; it tends to make one look like a better leader than if you just said "I'm greedy land-hungry conqueror and you look weak. I declare war!"

Right, I will sort this combat out tomorrow night(GMT). You have until then to change orders due to peace treaties etc.

After this, I will be changing the system(yet again :p ). I know it's hard to keep up, but I'm trying to refine the NES as I go along.

Anyway, now buys for the week ahead will still have to be in on Saturday or Sunday.

Due to trade embargoes no longer existing, your salary will always be 100 gold unless you have extra territory, in which case I will have told you how valuable it is, or you have lost territory, in which case I will have told you how much you lost.

Orders will now be given out at any time during the week, and finally, on Wednesday nights, combat will be resolved. There will be no combat resolution on Sat/Sun, and orders will be allowed at all times.

This is to make the game more free-flowing.

Skirmish attacks are still included, but trade embargoes are to be got rid of, as they're too damned hard to keep track of(pity me, I'm overworked :p )

But to make a more deadly way of threatening a nation, the hydrogen bomb will be introduced. They cost 100 gold, but will wipe between 0% and 50%(on average, 25%) of the enemy hit's salary away for that turn. Hydrogen bomb attacks must be declared before Wed., and will be resolved on Wednesday with other combat. Then I will tell the hit nation how much they have lost.

A cheaper version, so that smaller nations have some defence, will be the atom bomb. These cost 50 gold, and do between 0 and 25% salary damage.

Thoughts?

Please don't condemn me for removing trade embargoes, and the second combat, have pity on a hard working soul! ;) :p

I consider the exclusion of European arrests provided in point #3 a minor slight, but as I remain confident in my assumption that these subversive activities are being masterminded by my ousted rival Farid al-Qafar I do not expect it to become an issue. I will sign the accord immediately, and propose the following collorary, although your rapidly progressing negotiations with the American Alliance may make it a moot point:

6. In the event that British-controlled India is invaded by a third party and threatens the occupied zone, Iran will continue to occupy and defend the territory until Britain has firmly secured India or the war ends, at which time British control would resume. In such an event Iran makes no obligation to participate further than continuing to hold the occupied territories for eventual return to Britain.

For two reasons:

Some nations have more than 100 gold income(Germany for example) and therefore 50% would be 87.5(rounded up to 90) gold from her salary.

Also, nations can gang up with their nukes, especially the 25 gold ones, 4 nations could gang up on one and use it to remove their salary(possibly) for that turn.

Though you are right, I may up the chances to 0 to 100 for 100 gold, and 0 to 50 for 50 gold.

In the recent elections, the party behind the Premier who united the country after the long years of war gained a second term with a popular vote of 73.7%, and it has once again fallen upon Nicolay Romanov to form a new government. Despite international friction and frequent heated exchanges with other world leaders, it seems Romanovs first period as Premier was a complete success, mostly due to the enactment of several key reforms. The closest runner up was the Rodina National-Socialist Party, the socalled Ronatso, with 13,88% of the votes. He is expected to return to his duties after a lengthy period of comparative silence in anticipation of the elections with great vigour.

The people of Russia are overjoyed that finally the South American disaster can be put behind us, and many of my people have already concluded that you seem a far wiser and more reflected man than your rather trigger-happy predecessor (for who's recovery we, as true christians should, do of course pray).
In order to cement our newly refreshed friendship with you, we offer to you an MPP, along the lines of the one offered by China.
The deep-rooted friendship between our peoples which was demonstrated when we were at loggerheads with Brazil and you supported us, even to the point of going to war (a hasty act i hope we will never see the likes of in your presidency), makes it prudent for me to offer you such a deal.
In addition, we, the people of Russia, will reopen procedures to try and grant you access to the alliance shared between myself, France and Germany, provided they will agree to it as well. This European Union may in future prove to be just the kind of road block we need to prevent further escalation of hostilities between our nations.
Godspeed.

Although Russia never supports terorism on principle, we also never support armed invasion of another nations territory for the purpose of eliminating such terrorism. When such an invasion is conducted by one of our neighbours against one of our friends, in order to secure the arrest of a former leader of your nation, whom you merely suspect of terrorist acts, it worries me. It worries me a lot. I will support Britain in any decision they make on this matter, and should it come to war, you will find yourself dealing with another enemy. I suggest you simmer down, and let Britain deal with your ex-president as Britain sees fit. And when Britain says they want to deal with European insurrectors in their own country, I see that as only fair. You should not demand to be allowed to arrest European nationals.

Clearly this is a matter vital to the security of both Iran and British India, and Kitchener is wise enough to entrust such a delicate and important operation to those more experienced in local matters. Britain has already agreed not to oppose the temporary occupation, and your attempts to bring bloodshed into the already peacefully-resolved situation can only be seen as warmongering efforts to create disorder. ELECTION NIGHT, JACKSON CLAIMS PRESIDENCY WITH LANDSLIDE VOTE.

Washington, DC - onight's election saw the largest margin of victory ever for an American presidential candidate, with President Henry Jackson winning his first term through election by an electoral count of 370 - 23. Jackson, architect of peace in South America, and the first to renounce Neo-Conservative ties in the waning days of the Cain administration ran with the Continental Party, the new party of most right wing voters in the U.S. The Party's main planks are ensuring peace throughout the Americas, constructive and meaningful cooperation with the European nations, coupled with further reductions in federal spending and responsibility.

"Returning more power to the states that make up our Union, and limiting the power of centralized federal government is keeping with the intentions of our Founding Fathers. Thomas Jefferson said, "That government is best which governs least," and that statement shall dictate all domestic policy pursued in my first full term."

Jackson's opponent, Tyson Blackholder of the Labor and Worker Party, gained a majority in only a few areas, notably most of American Central America, where Communist ideas hve found fertile ground with the poor Spanish speaking population. Blackholder had almost no success in areas north of Texas, but vowed the Communist movement in America would not die.

The new Senate elections have changed the complexion of Congress, with the Continental Party holding about 1/3 of the seats, with the rest divided between the LWP, Republicans, Libertarians, and four seats going to the far-right National Pride Party.

I do however, wish to remind you that 1. the Iran incursion may not last longer than 2 years and 2. no Europeans are to be arrested, as they do not fall under your target group for terrorists and they have the right to be dealt with by the British authorities. I am afraid as a non-colonial country, Iran does not quite understand that it is sometimes necessary to make a distinction between races.

To: Brazil

Dear sir. I can assure you that neither Russia nor Britain has any plans of war. All we want Iran to understand is that, in case they do not respect the India Accord, we will have no choice but to act.

Just as you objected to Britain's involvement in South American issues, I must now object to your involvment in a matter clearly confined to India.

I DO VERY MUCH apologise for the actions of my predecessor, Mr. Mitchell. I was never a supporter of the campaign and can assure you that Brazil has nothing to fear from Britain. We apologise for any profane statements made during the crisis and for the uneccesary bloodshed. We hope that you will accept our most humble of apologies.

To: AMERICA, CANADA, FRANCE
Thank you friends, for accepting peace, even though Britain was, some time ago, unwilling to accept it herself. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope that the Atlantic will be a peaceful place and that Anglo-American and Anglo-French relations will be fruitfull, peaceful and prosperous.

To: Russia
Dearest of friends

Yours in peace
Pres. Herbert Franklin Kitchener

ECONOMY BOOM THREATENS RESOURCES

Although the recent news that Britain's economy is going from strenght to strenght, anylists are worried that Britain's Homeland and Offshore resources will be uable to provide the booming Industrial giant with the necessary resources.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Joanne Montgomery, said that Britain needs to concider broadening its resource base. "This will of course be done with land-purchases and NOT with force," she assured the reporter.

Meanwhile GDP growth exceeded the expected 4,5% and is currently 5,6%. This caused unemployment in Britain to drop from 2,4% in 1939 o 1,7% in 1940. The pound is also regaining ground after its sharp losses during the Swedish South American crises.

1 Pound = Russian Ruble 0,97
1 Pound = US$ 1,34
1 Pound = DM 1,67
1 Pound = French F 2,78
1 Pound = Canadian $ 3,23

Britains oil production has also soured, lowering prices. The oil price is currently Pound 19,02 ($25,9). International gold price dipped strongly due too saver political situation. Price of gold currently Pound 456,01 ($603).

MITCHELL RECOVERS FROM COMA
Britain greated the news of Mitchell's recovery with mixed emotions today. The National Socialist Party announced the Socialist Alliance with the Federal Party, making them the offical opposition party, at 40% of the vote.

HINDU's PROTEST IRANIAN OCCUPATION
Bearly a week after the Indian Accord passed into practise, the local Hindu population in India held massive demonstrations, protesting the planned Kashmir Occupation.

British Bobbies had to use teargas to break up angry crowds. A car bomb also exploded outside the IRANIAN embassy in New Delhi yesterday.

VIOLENCE IN NORTHERN IRELAND
Police had to break up recent violent clashes between Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland. Kitchener is sending a special team to the region to anylise the situation.

Dear friend
I am eager to keep our alliance standing, but on the basis of peace, not war. I propose we rename it to the Anglo-Swedish Alliance, as we are the only two nations who have this. This might become a special alliance in which our two nations might work together to protect the North Sea.

I urge you not to dwell on the old issue of the Argentine war, but to look ahead. If your country has significant problems with governing Argentina, I propose you read the offer I have made to you in your pm.

Yours sincerely
Pieter

Britain wishes to make it clear that we will for now not participate in the nuclear weapon's race, but will be using nuclear technology for the generation of electricity.

Articles from the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

South African invasion goes off without a hitch!
The sudden and quick defeat of the South Africans brought about a huge economy boom in Germany. Despite heavy losses to the Kriegsmarine and some moderate losses to the Army Corps, the new income was said to be "Well Worth it" by Chancellor von Hotzendorf.

While this move seemed to upset the Swedish and the Canadians no intense international pressure was applied as in the Argentine crisis. President Shaka, admittedly a despot, did little and could do little to gain international support. Because of his actions in escalating the Argentine crisis no one in America wanted to help him, and no one anywhere else wanted to hurt Germany.

However, the losses sustained by the Army Corps and Kriegsmarine will take some time to replace. Chancellor von Hotzendorf claims that "this will not be a problem because we are surrounded by friends."

The German economy is reported to have a three-quarter increase with the annexation of South Africa. However, the long time it will take to fill the ranks of the lost men will pay the price and the full power of this bonus cannot be brought in for some time.

Germany rejects EU proposal

In a stunning display of national sovreignty, Chancellor Gothart von Hotzendorf refused to join the EU as proposed by Britain and Russia. The national release, which contained the point that "We have a bad habit of creating large, unwieldy alliances...We should stay away from this whole "huge alliance" process--we saw what happened 22 years ago. It shouldn't happen again."

Few citizens seem to resent this. It has caused some minor riots outside the Reichstag, though they did eventually fall in, not because of force but because of lack of supplies. Most did not arrive with more than a sleeping bag and a few cans of food; after a week, all of the protestors were gone.

Chancellor Gothart von Hotzendorf appears to maintain his policy for an independent and strong Germany. Germany retains her only alliance, the one with Russia, and has made a great show on the world stage.

Russia expected to finish off Shaka in Madagascar

Chancellor Gothart von Hotzendorf was said to have "painfully" given Russia the green light to take over Madagascar. The island, which holds a quarter of South Africa's wealth and industry, (OOC: That still is a load of trash, UK :p) is expected to be taken by an aerial landing of the same Russian paratroops that fought the DKP in Berlin.

Germany's Kriegsmarine, which suffered the loss of all but a carrier, simply could not take the island without pouring huge amounts of money into it. It wasn't worth it to many of the highest government officials.

"We give our sword to Russia," Foreign Minister Ribbentrop said. "We have chopped off Shaka's limbs; we now ask Romanov to take his head."

Elections in Germany: 1942
German elections are scheduled to take place in 1942, the end of Hotzendorf's six-year term as Chancellor. Since the death of Hindenburg he has managed to lead the nation successfully through Civil War, an invasion of South Africa, stay a great ways out of the Argentine crisis and grab a huge economic increase for the nation.

The problem that seems to face the Reichstag is, who to run against Hotzendorf? While the nation has rallied behind him in bad times, which seemed to follow throughout his reign, a great deal of the populations was swayed by the DKPs actions. Rainart Heidelsdt, the German Free People's Socialist Party leader, was arrested and shot by a firing squad for treason. The DKP leader was killed in battle.

We shall yet see, but as it stands, only 48% of the nation still approves of Hotzendorf's work. While this is certainly enough to get him past the preliminaries, what happens when he's up against a serious opponent?
