View Full Version : NCG 4: The Triumph of the Mind Pre-Game Show
Hackapell Jun 21, 2007, 04:09 PM The next NCG is starting up, mostly because I am on a time restriction. this will be an open-forum game; similar to the Lonely Hearts Club, I will give you the starting pic and the save, and you can play it out and post reports
in spoiler tags please.
We had a relatively peaceful game with Ghandi, but I would like to unleash my inner warmongerer :ar15: I need a good warmongerer to do this with, but if no one signs on, I will just pick a civ and give you the data. This challenge will last until July 23, so don't feel rushed to post and to experiment.
Well, we need a leader. My picks for this are Washington, Victoria, Alexander, Napoleon, and Tokugawa.
Thoughts?
Hackapell Jun 21, 2007, 07:56 PM Hello? anyone out there?
tycoonist Jun 22, 2007, 12:44 AM go with alexander
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 06:34 AM one vote for Alex...
polls close at 1 pm EST.
mice Jun 22, 2007, 06:40 AM I'd be happy with Alex (as a civ choice that is)
Hackapell, are you going to set checkpoint dates like Futurehermit's open game or are you just going to leave it up to people to post at key moments in their game?
I'm in favor of checkpoints so you can compare your game to others.
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 06:46 AM Checkpoints sound fine.
So, checkpoints at 2000 BC, 1000BC, 0AD, 1000AD, 1500 AD, finish.
2 votes for Alex; anyone else?
r_rolo1 Jun 22, 2007, 07:56 AM Out of proper time ( I'm in Europe .... ) ,but I would like Toku. His Org trait helps a growing empire.
Mu'min Jun 22, 2007, 08:48 AM Alex sounds fine. Though im not sure how these things work. Do we all play Alex and then compare notes to see who did what? and what about victory conditions? are we free to pick any victory or are we all going for the same one?
r_rolo1 Jun 22, 2007, 08:55 AM If it is like LHC ( I'm a proud member :D ), Hackapell will play the game as usual and everyone is invited to do a shadow game doing things in their way ( victory conditions, targets,...), posting a spoiler with a description of the game and the victory save.
From my opinion, is a good format, because the people that discuss in thread already tried the game and are in a better positon to discuss things than only looking at the saves or at the pictures ( if they don't spoil the hoster's game, of course  )
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 09:01 AM Right mu'min, like r_rolo1 said, except since I won't be here for a month, I will be the last to post my game.
you are free to pursue any VC you want, which is why if we are going to pick a warmongerer, you might as well have an economic trait in case someone wants to go try a space race. That is possible with Alex. Trust me, I've tried, but it ain't easy. :D
on a side note, I've finished the last NCG, so you are free to post about it.
ParadigmShifter Jun 22, 2007, 09:03 AM Hey my first Prince win was a space race with Alex!
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 09:08 AM no no, paradigmshifter, you misunderstand me. I think, of the "warmongerers" we could pick, the one with the AGG trait and the best chance for a space-race IS Alex.
ParadigmShifter Jun 22, 2007, 09:30 AM OK fair enough. I only went space when I didn't have quite enough for domination.
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 09:32 AM ditto.
anyway, total point scoring ( I should really do a poll, shouldn't I?)
Alex: 3 votes
Toku: 1
Vicky: 1
everyone else: 0
ParadigmShifter Jun 22, 2007, 10:12 AM Well I'm British so I will chip in with a Victoria vote - "We are not amused".
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 10:21 AM edited above.
tycoonist Jun 22, 2007, 11:25 AM is this on vanilla?
Hackapell Jun 22, 2007, 11:32 AM Yes. 5678910
