I began to play Civ 4 reacantly(haven't played it since Civ 1) and in the moment, like every newbie, i'm looking for some help.
The dilemma in my mind is should I take Stalin or Capac. The UB of the Incans is far superior then that of the Russians, but Stalin has the aggressive trait which gives me an advantage when the time comes to visit the neighbors.
The UU of the Russians is not so powerful as that of the Incas but it lives a little longer in my book(I always play a quick game).
My games are mostly peaceful though, building wonders and if possible grabbing the Space Victory here and there(played a few games). Harassing and in rare cases annihilating that guy and the other.
When I'm with Stalin I don't have a problem with money, but then again money aren't my strong point.
So who should I chose and if possible could you guys give me some tips for the specific leader(I know there is a topic about hint's but spaciely for those leaders)?

As a newbie, spam cottages. With that respect, go with Huayan for the Financial trait.

I'd say more but really its all up to you. Play a few games, its the best way to get back on the ropes

Traun,

Welcome to CivFanatics! :)

You're looking at two leaders where one has an Ancient Age Unique Unit and Unique Building, whereas the other has an Industrial Age Unique Unit with a Modern Age Unique Building (which happens to be well suited to Space Race victories), so I guess it depends how you want to approach the game and how much emphasis you place on the advantages lent by these tribe-specific features.

Both Aggressive (Stalin) and Financial (Huayna Capac) are strong useful traits throughout the game, although one could argue that it takes a little while for Financial to 'shine' (debatable - I know).

Perhaps rather than 'rabbit on' about what I might think, I guess I'd refer you to a few threads that might be of interest if you've yet to see them;

I think each will give you some ideas about particular tactics for Stalin and Huayna Capac.

Personally, I think that if you want to improve quickly, try playing games where you build no great wonders. Reason is this: at low levels, you can build wonders and still expand nicely. As you move up the levels, you cannot build many wonders without sacrificing expansion, so you need to learn how to play without those wonders. Chose someone without the industrial trait. Someone spiritual will help you explore the civics, of which many are powerful. So I would advise monty, mansa or asoka to start with.

Thanks guys.
Cam_H I find the links useful and I'm gratefully for the information you gave me, I'll try to use the best of it.
Sooooo, thanks for the tip, but it seems that I personally have some wonder fetish and need building one at any time.
Once again guys, thanks for the help.

Huayna is unquestionably better than Stalin. Although you might end up getting hooked on Quecha. They allow you to do things that you can't do with any other UU.
