View Full Version : Which new leader do you want to demolish the most?
Melyerk Jun 26, 2007, 08:00 PM Of all the new leaders in BtS, there must be one you're reallying looking forward to KO'ing...
But which one...?
I'm looking forward to punishing de Gaulle for taking a third French spot instead of standing aside for another leader of a one leader civ...
(And for being French, but that's a different subject...)
(Nothing personal against him, he just took up an extra spot another leader could have had in BtS)
Kushluk Jun 26, 2007, 08:09 PM Im not sure what a Yaqob is, if its anything as strange as a Yak I dont want it leading my country.
dutchking Jun 26, 2007, 08:14 PM I say Suryavarman II cause his photo creeps me out, otherwise it would be Gilgamesh because if he's anything like Mansa Musa I'm gonna die...
EDIT: He's gonna die...
BtW, Melyerk. I noticed you just joined, welcome to Civfanatics! [party]
LightSpectra Jun 26, 2007, 08:17 PM Boudica, because the Celts are not significant enough to have two leaders. If they wanted to fulfill their Affirmative Action quota, they could've added Wu for China.
Melyerk Jun 26, 2007, 08:18 PM BtW, Melyerk. I noticed you just joined, welcome to Civfanatics! [party]
Why, thank you dutchking...Always feels good to be noticed...:D
Phoenix1595 Jun 26, 2007, 08:21 PM Boudicca. I always love beating up the Celts when I play as Rome. She will be a worthy opponent for my praets!
dutchking Jun 26, 2007, 08:37 PM Why, thank you dutchking...Always feels good to be noticed...:D
Anytime man, I love you...
:joke:
Slobadog Jun 26, 2007, 08:54 PM Pacal's leaderhead expression is just asking to be wacked.
sydhe Jun 26, 2007, 08:57 PM Im not sure what a Yaqob is, if its anything as strange as a Yak I dont want it leading my country.
Yacob looks like a nice, friendly fellow. I think I'll ally with him to wipe out that Mayan lunatic.
soylenterin Jun 26, 2007, 09:00 PM Suryavarman II, he is SO SCARY... he looks like an evil lizard.
Grimus Jun 26, 2007, 09:15 PM Pacal... he looks like a whiney, little brat.
Da_V_Man Jun 27, 2007, 12:14 AM Pacal... he looks like a whiney, little brat.
He reminds me of a Chipmunk. As long as he isn't like Monty, I'm fine with him. I'd like to get Hammaurabi, he doesn't look half as fly as he did a civ ago.
scy12 Jun 27, 2007, 12:20 AM Boudica ... I will demolish her doggy style , alright...
The_CatSnack Jun 27, 2007, 02:06 AM :) I second that
Martinus Jun 27, 2007, 03:11 AM I don't dislike any of them yet.
I'm pretty sure some can end up with a rather nasty AI. My personal candidates are Boudica (a cross between Shaka and Isabela) and Pacal (Monty MK2).
AriochIV Jun 27, 2007, 03:20 AM Death to "General" De Gaulle.
Drago Askani Jun 27, 2007, 03:22 AM Sitting Bull, for some reason I just want to kill him. :assimilate:
Stilgar08 Jun 27, 2007, 03:37 AM voted for William of Orange - No particular reason, I love the Dutch (really) but I had this association with football - and when it comes to football you know how Germans and Dutchs are... ;)
Onagan Jun 27, 2007, 04:23 AM voted for William of Orange - No particular reason, I love the Dutch (really) but I had this association with football - and when it comes to football you know how Germans and Dutchs are... ;)That's why i voted for Charlemange
Kao'chai Jun 27, 2007, 04:28 AM Europe is over-represent with both leaders and civs .
Charlemagne should have been added next time .If I can vote two , De gaulle is next because Spain and Japn are still one-leadered , The 3rd leaders should be for the next expansion pack or civ5
sneaky Jun 27, 2007, 04:48 AM Sitting Bull must die! Stupid Indians with their protective super-archers. De Gaulle comes close though.
pi-r8 Jun 27, 2007, 05:52 AM This poll reminds me of the "Scorpio" simpsons episode.
Scorpio: hey homer, what's your least favorite country, Italy or France?
Homer:France
Scorpio:Nobody ever says Italy...
*launches nuclear missile at France
Yeah, I voted for de Gaulle.

Yeah, I voted for de Gaulle.
Although I voted de Gaulle as well, I would have said Italy if I were Homer. ;)
lord_joakim Jun 27, 2007, 06:18 AM Pericles' gonna die. I can just smell the Tech Racing aroma from him!!
Grimz101 Jun 27, 2007, 06:23 AM Poland in the WW2 Scenario, Then Hitler, Then the world mwuhahahahaha
Ill be Russia of course :)
Churchill's Hat Jun 27, 2007, 06:26 AM I'll ax-- I mean, vulture-rush Boudicca. Hehehe...Knowing the AI, it'll probably try building spears to counter...
Melyerk Jun 27, 2007, 07:46 AM UPDATE:
De Gaulle has taken the lead with 12...
Boudica, Charlemagne, and Lincoln are tied for second with 7...
Pacal and Suryavarman II are tied for third with 6...
And Sitting Bull coming in with 5 at fourth...
Didn't think Lincoln would be placed so high...Must be some resentment for taking a third spot...
That or a lot of resentful southerners...

I really don't get this, I'm happy with all of the new leaders...since you guys are on pc's you can mod the game to make whatever leaders you want...Abraham Lincoln was a good man...so was Charles De Gaulle...
Melyerk Jun 27, 2007, 08:13 AM Abraham Lincoln was a good man...so was Charles De Gaulle...
Oh, I agree...De Gaulle was a great leader for France, but I also felt he was a unneeded addition to BtS...
I don't mind Lincoln being in because I thought he deserved Roosevelt's spot in Civ IV...
dutchking Jun 27, 2007, 08:20 AM Oh, I agree...De Gaulle was a great leader for France, but I also felt he was a unneeded addition to BtS...

I'd say that De Gaulle is actually a pretty cool addition, some people don't...
About Lincoln: I'd say if America only had two leaders I'd make it Roosevelt and Lincoln. Just 'cause Washington was first doesn't mean he's best. Roosevelt and Lincoln had MUCH bigger issues of dealing with while in office. Great Depression, Civil War, WWII. I'm not saying Washington wasn't important, but I like having all three of them honestly...:goodjob:
Melyerk Jun 27, 2007, 10:17 AM ...but I like having all three of them honestly...:goodjob:
I agree...In the end, having Lincoln now is better than not having him at all...
Better late then never...
cybrxkhan Jun 27, 2007, 01:02 PM i voted De Gaulle. :D
sooooo Jun 27, 2007, 01:14 PM I checked out the leaderhead animations at the official site just to answer this poll. And my conclusion: De Gaulle needs a good slapping! Gilgamesh looks pretty cool though.
dutchking Jun 27, 2007, 02:31 PM I agree...In the end, having Lincoln now is better than not having him at all...
Better late then never...
Yeah, totally, he was a very important figure in American history...
cybrxkhan Jun 27, 2007, 03:32 PM And my conclusion: De Gaulle needs a good slapping!
from Catherine, may i add...
NYHunter Jun 27, 2007, 03:47 PM Hammurabi (personal distaste for him in Civ III)
dutchking Jun 27, 2007, 04:05 PM I wanna kill Justinian, he's such a ß∂∑ß∆¬∑¢¢¢™¢¢¢£££
Go to Civs>Justinian (http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/beyondthesword/)

WHOA! I don't know whether to throw up or poke out my eyes...
Man he needs some sun baaaaad...
TheLastOne36 Jun 27, 2007, 06:40 PM Lincoln. He doesn't deserve to be in the game.
Slobadog Jun 27, 2007, 06:46 PM You must be a southerner.
SonicLlama Jun 27, 2007, 06:57 PM I voted for De Gaulle. He's not a bad choice for a leader, but France doesn't need three. I'd rather have seen another Japanese, Spanish, or Chinese leader. Hell, if any civ deserves three leaders, it's China.
dutchking Jun 27, 2007, 07:03 PM Lincoln. He doesn't deserve to be in the game.
Are you kidding me??!!! As a decendant of a Civil War Veteran (for the Union) I'm insulted! Jeeze...
TheLastOne36 Jun 27, 2007, 07:05 PM Yes but De Gaulle, Boudica, and Lincoln had no business in the game instead of Spain, Japan and Arabia.
Everyone will have there own opinions and you have to respect that.
dutchking Jun 27, 2007, 07:09 PM Yes but De Gaulle, Boudica, and Lincoln had no business in the game instead of Spain, Japan and Arabia.

I do respect your opinion, but I don't understand it. So what if one civ has more leaders then another, it just means they were either more "important" than the other civ or they had many great leaders.
geebo Jun 27, 2007, 07:13 PM I do respect your opinion, but I don't understand it. So what if one civ has more leaders then another, it just means they were either more "important" than the other civ or they had many great leaders.
The Celts were neither more important then Spain, Arabia, and Japan, or had more great leaders...
TheLastOne36 Jun 27, 2007, 07:20 PM ^ Exactly.
Melyerk Jun 27, 2007, 08:35 PM The Celts were neither more important then Spain, Arabia, and Japan, or had more great leaders...
I have to agree there...
Celts were important enough to deserve one leader...But two is over kill...
dutchking Jun 27, 2007, 08:58 PM I never said the Celts were more "important" than either of those civs, but the Celts fall into the other category I said and Firaxis had the obligation to add Boudica. I think they felt like they made a mistake with Brennus.
But that's not what I was talking about. You said "Lincoln doesn't deserve to be in the game." And I said I felt insulted. Nothing else.
Melyerk Jun 28, 2007, 08:17 AM I never said the Celts were more "important" than either of those civs, but the Celts fall into the other category I said and Firaxis had the obligation to add Boudica. I think they felt like they made a mistake with Brennus.

True...Brennus should have come after Boudica, or not at all...
White Elk Jun 28, 2007, 08:54 AM Since Andrew Jackson is not in the game I will have to demolish Lincoln in his stead. As in playing as the Native Americans and resisting Jacksons Indian Removal Act. I can't wait to kick those murdering imperialists right off this continent. All in fun of course ;~)
dutchking Jun 28, 2007, 08:55 AM True...Brennus should have come after Boudica, or not at all...
I don't think he should've been in at all. And if the Celts absolutely needed a new leader I'd say it should be Vercingtorix...:king: But otherwise I think "Brennus is a useless waste of space as far as I am concerned" (reference to diplomacy)...
Dutch Canuck Jun 28, 2007, 12:02 PM In reading the bio of Justinian the I (at the official website) it turns out Justinian was a coward: he ran and hid leaving his wife Theodora, and his top general Belisarius, behind to stem a riot and potential coup. Cowardice like that deserves a thorough demolishing!
dutchking Jun 28, 2007, 12:10 PM In reading the bio of Justinian the I (at the official website) it turns out Justinian was a coward: he ran and hid leaving his wife Theodora, and his top general Belisarius, behind to stem a riot and potential coup. They should've put Theodora in instead, another female leader and one less coward...:goodjob:

Theodora was a... um... you know... ancient equivilent of a callgirl, but she was (supposedlY) a pretty good administrator, you know... i think Firaxis should've put her in, even if she wasn't the actual leader. more fun the Justinian. :D
TheLastOne36 Jun 28, 2007, 04:30 PM Theodora was a... um... you know... ancient equivilent of a callgirl, but she was (supposedlY) a pretty good administrator, you know... i think Firaxis should've put her in, even if she wasn't the actual leader. more fun the Justinian. :D
And hopefully hotter ;)
cybrxkhan Jun 28, 2007, 04:32 PM oh wait... i said she was a:
pretty good administrator
:groucho:
i dunno... maybe i'll beat up the Byzantines and give them a ton of units in their last city, then we can have an epic seige like the real one at Constantinople in 1453.
Melyerk Jun 28, 2007, 07:49 PM ...But otherwise I think "Brennus is a useless waste of space as far as I am concerned" (reference to diplomacy)...

QFT
But atleast we got Darius and Pericles instead of Xerxes and Leonidas ;)

well atleast your agreeing with me here. In the other threads we're having an all out war

lol He does:lol:
Öjevind Lång Jun 29, 2007, 09:48 AM UPDATE:

That or a lot of resentful southerners...
And I'd say de Gaulle is in the lead simply because of some resentful Britons and Americans who harbour a grudge agaisnt the *historical* de Gaulle (not the leader of that name in this game) because he refused to run errands for them. As a matter of fact, he did many good things for his country, and if France really needed a third leader, I think he was a good choice.
I voted for Boudica, because I am sure she'll be lots of trouble if she turns out to be your next-door neighbour.
Öjevind Lång Jun 29, 2007, 09:52 AM I don't think he should've been in at all. And if the Celts absolutely needed a new leader I'd say it should be Vercingtorix...:king: But otherwise I think "Brennus is a useless waste of space as far as I am concerned" (reference to diplomacy)...
True. Vercingetorix would have been a much better choice than Brennus. As for Boudica, I think she was just included as eye candy.
aelf Jun 29, 2007, 03:25 PM De Gaulle was a good leader, and if he doesn't deserve to be there by virtue of being a 3rd leader, neither does Lincoln, Churchill or Stalin. You guys are just being dumb.
Where is the hypothetical second Japanese leader option? I would vote for that just to annoy the historically challenged fanboys.
ds61514 Jun 29, 2007, 03:58 PM The polish one.
Bongo-Bongo Jun 29, 2007, 04:42 PM Lincoln must die!!!
I don't like the fact that any civ has three leaders, but when the Americans get a third, when China, Rome and India would be much more deserving, and more importantly, there are still several civs that have just one leader.
De Gualle comes a close second. That makes two leader spots wasted on civs that already have two leaders.
Traun Jun 29, 2007, 05:57 PM Lincoln must die!!!
but when the Americans get a third
The weird thing is that America do have a leader who deserves to be in the CIVs series, however in his place there are people with only local success and influence, but are more popular in the current age(such as Washington and Roosevelt)
P.S.Lincoln must die!!!
dutchking Jun 30, 2007, 09:31 AM De Gaulle was a good leader, and if he doesn't deserve to be there by virtue of being a 3rd leader, neither does Lincoln, Churchill or Stalin. You guys are just being dumb.
Thank you! I'm not dumb...but Lincoln, Churchill, Stalin, and De Gaulle all "deserve" to be "in". :goodjob:
cybrxkhan Jun 30, 2007, 11:48 AM I don't like the fact that any civ has three leaders, but when the Americans get a third, when China, Rome and India would be much more deserving, and more importantly, there are still several civs that have just one leader.

Saim Jul 05, 2007, 11:46 AM Thank god not the WHOLE board is Euro/America-centric!
Maybe now Firaxis will figure that out and start representing Asia and Africa more? Heck, we've already got the Khmer and Ethiopia (more than what you could say about Civ III).
