View Full Version : Cabinet Vote to accept or decline Grey Fox's resignation

As acting President in Grey Fox's absence, I propose that, for administrative reasons and because of the close elections period, we refuse to accept Grey Fox's resignation, and run the country according to the chain of command, but without an actual president, until the new elections. This will avoid a couple of major changes, particularly in the executive and domestic departments, and allow the country to move forward without any problems. Discussion of these changes, and other possible solutions took place here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22871). A poll has not been taken, as this, I believe, qualifies as an emergency. As I am acting president ( at least until the conclusion of this vote), the deputy of the domestic department, Donsig, will be representing the domestic department in this cabinet vote.

Cabinet members: Please read the discussion in the other thread, and then vote here. This vote will close as soon as enough cabinet members have voted to get a majority or in 48 hours, whichever comes first.

"We cannot let that damn President get out of this without a fight!

Place all our defensive forces outside the palace, he is going to lead us even if he don't want to!"

We are just making a lifesize statue to sit in your office for a couple weeks. The forces are there to safely escort you to your retirement home.

I vote to accept, as the demogame should be allowed to interfer too much with real life.

From what I understand, he wouldn't actually be playing anymore Chieftess, but he would still retain his title to avoid complications in the cabinet. He would be simply a puppet with a sash (just kidding).

Wasn't this a movie script? The president wants to leave, or maybe he died, but the country can't handle the truth, so they pick out a look-alike as a decoy to be the front-man, while the aides keep the country running! Wierd!

Anyway, I vote to accept, I also wouldn't want to imply that we should override his real life commitments. However, if he would withdraw the resignation until the end of the term, and instead take a leave of absence, I would be in favor of that.

Finally, I'm not sure if anyone else notices this, but I think this whole debate points out a problem with our general structure, in that the president actually has very little power. We are running smoothly without him, and some people don't even want to be president, because they have more input as a minister. (Nothing personal, Eryei, I would feel the same way, it seems that unless you are at the chats, the president has very little to do).

I'm not sure what the answer is either, maybe if we end the turn chats, the president gets more power, or else we give him more ability to decide some of the gray areas we have been debating (new cities, budget, etc). In fact, I would think the Budget should be a presidential perogative, and then submit it to the cabinet for a vote. Not meaning to start a new constitutional debate, but it just seems like something is wrong when an absent president is our best solution?

Yeah, the movie is 'Dave' or something like that. Dave impersonates the real pres then at the end has a fake stroke and 'dies' so that there is no constitutional crisis...

I vote to ignore the resignation, and he can just not do his duties as the Pres. and we'd just use the CoC.

I vote this only because of the complexities of recognizing the resignation so close to election time.

It's a darn good thing Immortal resigned leaving us with seven cabinet members. If we still had eight we could end in a tie vote and god only knows how long it would take us to figure out who could break the tie!

The citizens' vote will be cast by the result of this poll:

Citizens' Poll: Accepting the President's resignation (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22903)

You may refer to it at the closing of this poll for my vote, in case I don't make it.

As Civinator is still absent and Chiefpaco's vote will be to accept the nomination (based on the citizen poll results) it looks like we will have our first tie vote in a Council Poll. As Eyrei is the acting President, his vote will break the tie.

I would like to wait a few more hours to see if Civanator shows up. I will send him a PM.

The poll has lapsed 48 hours, Eyrei. I know you want to wait for Civanator to reply but the rules are the rules. Please cast the tie-breaking vote.

Yep, my vote is "Yes". It is too bad that citizens don't get 2 votes any more....

I'm sorry, Civanator, but we have to follow the rules. The poll closed before you responded.

Eyrei - Please cast the tie breaking vote.

Well. My vote is to accept, based on two things. First, the citizens poll reflected a majority wish to accept Grey Fox's resignation, and second, I could use a little vacation from domestic leader. It is kind of funny that becoming president qualifies as a vacation....

Anyway, enjoy your retirement, Grey Fox!

Okee dokee. Eyrei is President and Donsig is Domestic Minister. What do we do for deputies? My suggestion is to have Donsig as VP and Eyrei as Domestic Deputy. We've got about a week left in this term.

Since there is no VP, the domestic leader (the third highest in the COC) becomes VP. Congratulations Donsig, you just got a major promotion....
