from the next war scenario description:
"nextwar" may be played in two ways. you may play the scenario, in which you are faced with a pre-created situation in the near-future, where earth is divided into five mega-empires locked in an escalating struggle for dwindling resources. or you can play this as a mod, in effect playing a standard civilization game where you can access the futuristic weapons of nextwar when you achieve the appropriate tech levels.
yessssssssssss!!!!!
Rule Brittania Jun 27, 2007, 01:50 PM but that is just an option right? for people wanting to play the epic game till just the techs like stealth and such, we still can can't we???
s0ulst0rms Jun 27, 2007, 02:11 PM yeah of course, i was just excited that the nextwar scenario is also optional as an additional "future era" for epic game. now we have room to advance past modern armors instead of waiting for everyone else to catch up. only issue is its limited to 8 players for epic game... does anyone know how to extend this limit?
cybrxkhan Jun 27, 2007, 02:16 PM oooooooooooooooooooooh sounds nice
jkp1187 Jun 27, 2007, 02:48 PM This is interesting. Thanks for the heads-up. :goodjob:
Twenty SIX days. Grumble.
JavalTigar Jun 27, 2007, 02:51 PM Excellent!!
Mechs vs tanks! Kick A$$!!!
Ikael Jun 27, 2007, 03:09 PM Yes. Oh yes. Oh, f*ck yes. I have been waiting for a futuristic era to be included in civilization for so much long! at last! and optional, so noone can whine about. Yahooo!!! *sings happily*

Virulent Jun 27, 2007, 04:03 PM I wonder if the epic Next War game will extend the tech tree or will they attach the Next War units to pre-existing techs (mechs to robotics for example).
GIR Jun 27, 2007, 05:10 PM nice post! very very nice!!
thx
Lucky The Fox Jun 27, 2007, 06:42 PM That is a nice compromise yes.
Algan Jun 27, 2007, 06:44 PM Can't wait to unleash those giant killer Robots against Isabella! :goodjob:

Kushluk Jun 27, 2007, 06:52 PM I so agree with this situation so much it's outrageous. :) I hated the arbirary 2050 end of Civ...its like the rapture occurs and Zeus, Jesus and Bhudda come on off the mountain and tally up everyone's score to declare a winner. Too arbitrary and way too close to now.
I dont want to be living in the end times! scary!
Dom Pedro II Jun 27, 2007, 07:09 PM Nevermind...
SonicLlama Jun 27, 2007, 07:13 PM I look forward to mercilessly crushing my enemies with my gigantic Aztec mech-walkers.
Someone should totally make a mod making civ-specific future units. The idea of massive, gold, feather-covered Mesoamerican robo-tanks is just too cool to pass up.
TheLastOne36 Jun 27, 2007, 07:16 PM well if it's optional and not a necessity then it's fine with me.
winddbourne Jun 28, 2007, 02:40 AM So long as it's optional, it's not my optimal solution. I'd prefer a longer modern period with more techs pre-2000, but . .. if you want giant killer robots you got giant killer robots.
I might even play with it on a few times, especially if they lift that 8 player limit, I tend to play with as many oponents as possible. It's more fun for me that way. Gives me more of the feeling that I'm one civilization in a huge world.
Frimlin Jun 28, 2007, 04:57 AM Great news! Especially for those of us longing for a SMAC style future age... ok so it won't be SMAC style, but still future age. Cool. :)
chopstyx Jun 28, 2007, 05:04 AM Very nice if it flows straight into this after the Epic game.
