Thats just awful!

Yeah... you're right about that.

I always mute the gamemenu music of civ IV anyway. It is annoying. Especially that one of civ IV vanilla.

Civ IV Vanilla's music was the best ever! They should just stick to that...

Christopher Tin, the man who did Baba Yetu from vanilla is going to be doing the theme for BtS too IIRC.

Are u sure about that? I thought it was all done "in-house" at firaxis. Wasnt the Baba Yetu an outside job?

In my opinion the music is very good, much better than Warlords-menu music.

Its what I call "musak"... just a lot of background-noise imo

i haven't heard it yet... argh.

i think on the chat they said he wasn't doing something, the music was "in-house", aka, done by Firaxis people... not so sure, though.

I agree about the introductory music to vanilla Civ IV. Anyway, when it comes to awfulness, nothing beats the menu music for "Warlords". And I am looking forward to never having to look at that leering, sword-waggling orc-chieftain again.

I don't think it's that bad.

Yes, they did say that "all the new music is in-house".

In an interview some months ago, Christopher Tin said he was composing music for "the next Civ", but he must have referred to Civ V, unless he and Firaxis have fallen out.

The music is fairly irritating indeed. But the Warlords music is still worse.

i just heard it. it gets annoying... ive heard worse, but i dunno... if thats the menu music, i'll just put in Baba Yetu or somehting.

Dom Pedro II
Jun 27, 2007, 03:56 PM
Are they doing it in-house? There had been an announcement a while back that he was going to be doing it, but I guess that fell through. I only read through a little bit of the chat log, so I'll take people's word for it that they said they're doing it in house.

For once I'm going to have to agree, the music on the BtS site is God-awful! If it's indeed the menu music for BtS, my first order of business will be to replace it with something else. Though at the moment I'm hoping it's just for the site or one of the scenarios.

I liked the music, but I don't think it's active enough to be menu music. I think it's just meant as background music to the site. I didn't mind Warlord's menu music either.

Its not so bad, I like it better than the lion king music.

However, I was expecting something along the lines of a millitary march sousa type thing...this is supposed to be about modern warefare I guess.. "Beyond the sword and all that".

The Warlords menu theme is great. Baba Yetu is terrible.

Come on, I loved both Vanilla and Warlords menu themes! Though vanilla's is too much disney-like.
But this new one... err... yeah, I didnt like

Firaxis better have a god damn option that lets you use the vanilla Civ IV intro.

Perhaps an easy-access option to insert your own music....

You guys would wuss about being hung with a new rope.

Every thread is now:

I hate this!

That civ was never a real civ!

Why wasn't my favorite civ included!

Why did they mess with that!

Why didn't they fix that!

and now This music sucks!

I have the simple solution.

Wait for it

DON'T BUY THE FARKING GAME!!!!

LEAVE THE FORUM TO THOSE WHO ARE EXCITED ABOUT PLAYING WHAT THEY HAVE DEVELOPED!

AND HAVE A NICE HOT CUP OF STFU!!!!

If it is alright with you, then I'm gonna buy the game because of all the additions and their fix to the "MAF". And having nothing better to do than wait, why not discuss just about everything - including the crappy music on the website?

Actually it’s not alright.

This forum used to be a place where other could have interesting discussions about a game that had brought so much fun to our gaming lives.

Now it has turned into a sounding board for whining and complaining about every detail of a game that none of us has experienced. Or better yet, lets discuss which leader is hotter!!!

Sorry that my venom had to fall on you, but the music complaint was the last straw.

I’m done. Maybe after the game is released I can once again see intelligent discussion return.

I think you, my friend, are in the wrong forum; "Civ4 - Beyond the Sword". This part of the forum deals with an expansion none of us have tried or experienced. Would you rather that we didnt post at all and let this forum die?

Agreed. Preferably with that magnificent view of the lights coming up in the Middle East and the spreading over the world.

If you don' enjoy discussions about BtS, then you shouldn't read messages in this section of the Civfanatics forums, because it is specifically called Civ4 - Beyond the Sword. It's quite simple, actually.
