On the website are the Darius and Gilgamesh leaderheads mixed up? Cause in Civ III I don't remember Gilgamesh looking anything like that. And the Gilgamesh leaderhead on the Website looks (its a stretch) a tad like Darius might have...Any thoughts?
Here they are on Wiki:
Gilgamesh (http://www.mega.nu:8080/ampp/eden/gilgamesh.jpg)
Darius (http://www.livius.org/a/1/iran/darius.JPG)
I think it's a close draw...but I really don't know. Go here to compare the leaderheads: Civs>Sumeria&Darius (http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/beyondthesword/)

Using Civ III as a reference isn't necessarily for the best.
I'm 99% certain that there is no mix-up between the two ; look at the beards of the leaderhead and those of the statues you posted, and you'll clearly see it.

I don't think so. Gilgamesh in the game looks a lot like the picture on wiki. However, Darius does not look Darius, actually Gilgamesh resembles Darius more then he does, weird? I think they did a good job with Gilgamesh, he looks tough!

Gilgamesh creeps me out, when I first saw Darius, I thought he was Gilgamesh. The way his crown is and everything...it's weird...In civ III and everything...and Gilgamesh just looks plain weird to me...

It is a bit of a good reference, not the best though. But Darius in Civ IV looks just like Gilgamesh in Civ III and Gilgamesh in Civ IV looks just like Xerxes**(I think Xerxes was Darius's SON) in Civ III, its confusing...:crazyeye:

I like how they made Gilgamesh look rather primative. No fancy colors or ornate headresses. Apt for the 'first' Civilization.

Xerxes was Darius' son, actually (and Cyrus' grandson via his mother)
At least so sayeth Wiki.

Wiki is usually right... (people can edit it, right?)

Could you post a link? :please:, thanks...
Do any of you really know how dark he was? Does ANYONE? I doubt it. Perhaps Persians today look lighter - gotcha. But does that mean that EVERY Persian is light-skinned? It's not like it is not at all possible that he could have been dark - maybe he has some Nubian blood or something.
I think it was the right decision not to add Xerxes again....after the 300 movie, I don't think they could ever pin down an image of the fellow. I'd love to see them just put in the actor from the movie...hehe "THE THOUSAND NATION OF THE PERSIAN EMPIRE DESCEND UPON YOU!"
Hehe...nice...
